The hotel really made my day! I bought a little fragile antique and had it sent to the hotel before I arrived there, worrying somehow it might broke on the way. I wasn't familiar with the logistics on the mainland and it arrived late... since I had to go to another city, the hotel sent my parcel to the hotel I was staying in Shenyang. Thanks to them, the parcel arrived safe and sound! I couldn't help but wrote an email to thank them for their efficient and helpful staff. The view was awwwwesome with a fantastic view of sunset. Fantastic really!
Many people complained about the smoke smell in the non-smoking room but I do not mind it. The locals smoke in whatever rooms they are given. The location is good as it is near the train station. There is also a Carrfour nearby. The breakfast spread is good.
We stayed at the Rosedale Hotel the night of Sept 22. The room we were given had a mild case of cigarette smell. In addition, the mold factor around the base of the tub was pretty bad, so we reversed our steps, & asked the front desk for another room. The next room, as we entered, the smell was worst. It was as if something sucked the living oxygen out of the air.. it stunk that bad. Maybe an exaggeration but impressions are paramount. As I write, the Rosedale's Shenyang ranking is 14th of 1,076 hotels as rated by Tripadvisor. The hotel location is great.. it stares at you when you exit the North train station. Bed comforts 2nd to none. The read is very good. Very safe. So, I thought weeks before. I think there is some merit to the hotel ranking, but it wasn't to be for us that night. The hotel has 312 rooms. I suppose we could have tried a few more rooms, but after travel it is difficult to be proactive as a hotel customer. I am not one to mess with Chinese traditions. If business men, whoever, choose to smoke and the rooms accommodate this, than so be it. Business is business. But I think that with the hotels 312 rooms, some rooms I assume are more environmentally acceptable than other rooms. Maybe there is a disconnect of information between the front desk and housekeeping, but I think it would behoove management to inventory each of the rooms to some quality of health standard. In the least the front desk would appear to more professional with the public they serve. We stayed the night in the 1st room as it was paid for in advance. As indicated in a prior post a week ago, there may be some navigation involved in finding a decent room.. it all depends on their customer's well being and patience.
I booked this hotel for 1 night, but at the end had to stay for 3 nights. In general not bad hotel but I was a kind of dissapointed. First, very unclear guidance how to go from the railway station, as a result we came to the backdoor of the hotel. Second - requested guarantee deposit exceeded any reasonable limits - 3 nights' deposit for one night stay seems a kind of strange for me. But after bargaining we limited it for 1 night fee plus advance cash payment for one (upcoming) night. At the same time Chinese registering in this hotel next to me was allowed to stay in the hotel without guarantee deposit at all, and that was strange. Third, breakfast was not included in the booking price even though in confirmation that I received it was there, so we paid additionally. But the worst was that frontdesk staff never tried to help us - whether it was calling to local numbers, calling for long-distance taxies or whatever else. It was first and I hope unique case in China. Still the rooms were clean, hotel was quiet even with reconditioning going on, and breakfast was fantastically good. As a summary, good value for money, very close to railway station, but definetely not 4 stars... expecially considering the fact that nobody spoke English there.
Finally I found a comfortable bed in China! Hard beds seem to be the norm in China, if not Asia, but this is the best bed I've slept in since the one in Oriental Central Hotel in Hanoi. For the life of me I can't understand why hotels spend thousands of dollars buying beds and then skimp on or completely skip the top mattress which makes it comfortable. Luckily that's not a problem at Rosedale Hotel in Shenyang. The rooms had modern interior and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Unfortunately I only stayed here one night. With a bed like this I wish I could have stayed here longer, especially after having been lugging around in China and North Korea for a couple of weeks.
For 200+ RMB, this is the most value for money hotel in the vicinity to the massive Shenyang Train Station, it is located across the road. The hotel has a nice lobby but the check in counter seems under staffed. The room is of good size and the renovation still good. But the bed is the bed part, it is so comfy! There is free wifi and 2 large mall within walking distance.
Stayed a night in the Deluxe double room booked via Agoda. Despite the change in name to Rosedale Hotel, it is still commonly known as it's former name, Time Plaza Hotel by the locals, including my Shenyang friend. Comfortable and cozy room, strong open wifi in room (no password required), powerful hot shower and numerous international tv channels. It is located within 5mins walking distance from the Shenyang North Long Distance Bus terminal (Huyue) which the Airport shuttle is found. The hotel is also situated directly opposite the Shenyang North Train Station and entrance to the Shenyang North Metro Station. Because of the proximity to the Metro station, I took the Metro to visit places like the Shenyang imperial Palace, Beiling and other shopping areas, all within few stops. My room booking comes with buffet breakfast which consist of both local Chinese dishes and assortment of breads and cakes. I am fully satisfied with the facilities and service here. .
We stayed this hotel for a 2 day visit to Shenyang recently. This hotel is right across the street from the south exit of the North Station Terminal. The staff is very friendly and helpful although speaking Chinese is a must in order to communicate. The rooms are a good size and pretty clean although it is somewhat aged and could use a decent renovation. One important negativity about this hotel is the temperature inside the room is too hot and stuffy and if the temperature thermostat is in the "on" position, you're going to cook. The only way to lower the room temperature is to turn "off" the thermostat and allow the outside "cold" air to lower the inside "hot" air. This is what I had to do and eventually, the room temperature was lowered to a bearable "warm". Other than this, the location is convenient as it is a 5 minute walk to the subway station and bus station. Taxis are plentiful all over if the subway cannot get you to where you want to go. Will definitely stay here again...
The hotel is situated on a relatively busy thoroughfare close to Shenyang North Railway Station. All things considered I was very satisfied with the hotel and the staff were helpful and accommodating. My room was on the 17th floor and found to be clean and serviced thoroughly. However, the decor and fittings looked tired and, apart from a poor flowing hot tap in the handbasin that was fixed as soon as reported, everything else was adequate. Staff at reception who could speak English were either present or not too far away to respond to queries. Generally, younger staff spoke a reasonable standard of English so, well done! The minimal (bottled) contents of the mini-bar were all well past their date-stamp, so improvement is necessary in that department. The lounge area adjacent to reception could definitely do with an upgrade if residents are to be catered for properly. Breakfast choice was good but virtually the same every day. Someone from the hotel chain should travel to and stay at 4* hotels in the west and make lots of notes.
I did some research about this hotel before I booked it, thanks for NOOSA_4567＇s previous review and help. The location is good and there is a large super market next to the hotel. The lobby and room are large, the service is acceptable. I will stay again. The breakfast might not be suitable for vegetarian.
