Mexicana Sharm Resort3.0 out of 5.0

We were rebooked to Mexicana forcefully due to closure of grand sharm , unpleasant surprise to us without any consultation from interval international seeking our acceptance to this change. The resort infrastructure has the potential to be a good resort however there is a significant operation deficiency starting from furniture and minimum standard requirements (sofa is aging to an extent you cannot even sit without slipping every few mins) to maintenance (aircon is not properly operating , no hot water , TV channels few working with bad quality ) housekeeping is almost absent we had to clean cupboards to be able to use them bathrooms are way below minimum hygiene requirements (we had to buy towels from nearby carrefour for our personal use). One Individual at reception and another bellman is all what we saw they are trying but seemed very helpless not sure if this place have any level of management at least they were not physically visible or their influence on operation is notable during our first day , not sure if we will survive the whole week booked or will try to find booking in more decent place or just cut our vacation short and leave, but anyways if you are booked or planning to book here in the near future strongly recommend to reconsider or at least be prepared for what you are about to experience.
"Hello Mr Ali" and "Hello Miss Paula" they shout when they see us coming. Nothing was too much trouble. This hotel is a BARGAIN. Yes it is isn't 5* star it is like a UK 3* but the value for money is unbeatable. Wifi is patchy at hotel but you can buy a dongle at vodafone shop. The food isnt amazing but there is always something that is good if you look for it. They make pasta dishes fresh while you wait. The salad bar is 100% safe to eat from and very well stocked. Stay away from the sleazy spa staff but all other staff are pretty good indeed, especially the front desk, bar and restaurant. Our room boy was brilliant too. The hotel is well placed 50LE from airport if you haggle and 15 from the Old Market. There is a good little supermarket just next door to hotel and a bigger one at bottom of the road. There is a HUGE one £1 away by taxi. We have already booked again for first two weeks in April 2018 with our friends Raf and Ewa
We spent a week at this resort and found the people to be very nice. The resort was well kept and clean. The price was very reasonable and included breakfast and dinner buffets and nightly entertainment/activities.
Stayed here in September 2015, staff were really friendly and always happy to help. We stayed in a ground floor room with a pool view which included a small kitchen, a living room and also a dining area. Both pools were kept clean during our stay. This is a good hotel for groups or couples. However, food could be improved as there is not much selection for English eaters and there is a lot of cats walking about which didn't bother us but could be a problem for other travellers.
If you want a good clean hotel for an affordable price then choose this one especially for family or couples as its a quiet area, 30 mins drive from the airport Its not far from the old market and naama bay, taxi costs varies from 15 to 30 Egyptian pounds We had bed and breakfast and it's very limited food wise but again consider the price you are paying you can go to the market and eat good food for a cheap price Free shuttle to the beach at 9,11 and 2 pm Beach is quiet and perfect for snorkeling The personnel is very helpfull
We love this hotel. The staff are amazing. Arafa, moataz etc. Please answer me this question tho. How can you justify the huge price hike. Approx total holiday price in June 2016. £1300. Cost for same holiday in 2017. Hotel only approx £1300. With flights £2400. The hotel has more than doubled it price. ???????. Please explain how you expect people to come back their when you do this. ??????????
We had a one bedroomed apartment, our friends had a two bedroomed apartment. They were right next door to each other and over looking the end of the smaller quiet swimming pool. The rooms were big and spacious and everything was perfect with them. The room was kept very clean and tidy and Hassam pandered to our every tiny request. He is excellent. Reception and management staff are fast and efficient, very polite and helpful. This hotel is very well placed for trips down to the Old Market or to Naama Bay etc. Don't use the hotel taxi - local taxi's are better and much cheaper. Moutaz in the restaurant is brilliant. The best of service from him at all times. The older chef with the glasses was really great too. They need to get a new toaster though !! (and bring back the micro-wave for heating up things extra hot please - if we get back from diving or from the beach late). This hotel is by far the best value for money of any hotel we have stayed in during our many visits to Egypt. We will be back again for sure. We will keep flying via Amsterdam and Cairo until the flights start back up from Manchester or Edinburgh. Sharm is TOTALLY safe - just go!!!
Mexicana is a great hotel great staff and management . After a chat with hotel owner there's going to be other changes to the hotel including new lobby bar , this hotel is our second home but it's a shame people don't no how to get to Sharm via cairo or hugharda we will be back next year as always
