The hotel is nice, clean and provides great hospitality. It gives you almost every facilities. The staffs are very accommodating. The room in which we' ve stayed at 12th floor gave us a wonderful view of the city.
I stayed their for 2 nights on two separate occasions booked by my tour company. I am actually surprised by the reading the good ratings below. My first night - 7th floor room - smelled like cigar smoke, room was old and disgusting, woke up all my clothes smelled like smoke too. My second stay was a second floor room, much nicer (looks like some of the pictures posted), no heavy smoke smell, but there was an smell like bleach and smoke mixed together. A/C unit could not get cold - had the temperature set at 18 over night and room temp was 23.5 and the side of the bath tub leaked every time we took a shower. Everyone on our tour complained of the smell of their rooms. I would rate the room quality as poor. The breakfast buffet was pretty good - mix of western and local. The main lobby and rest of the facilities look good but a little dated. The service is pretty good. The area is very nice with park and river nearby. KFC and Dunken Donuts or local stuff - Chai tea & Royal Dates within short walking distance. I am not sure if I would stay here again, but would definitely look at different places if possible.
Booked here as we thought we could get to Dubai easy and save a bit of money compared to Dubai prices. This hotel is located in Shahjar which is north of Dubai about £20 in a taxi from Dubai Airport. What we did not realise is Shahjar is actually a emirate that is independent of Dubai. First of all its a dry state. No alcohol at all in this state or any hotel. No bars nothing. Second its a way out of dubai and really there is no transport links to tourist areas. You have to use Taxi all the time. This soon leads to extra expense so we would be better off staying in Dubai. Also taxi from Dubai do not like taking you to Shahjar as the traffic jams are horrendous. Sharjar is a working area and not really for tourists and the infastructure is very limited to get around. So be warned, if you like a social drink in the hotel after a busy tourist day then your out if in sharjar and your limited to transportation services except taxi. You really cant walk anywhere too. Hotel is fine and staff friendly. Very tired hotel but is value for money. I would class this as a local hotel and probably great in its day.
