A good small hotel with a nice rooftop bar (even in January). Close to major sites.

Located in Seville's Historical Center neighborhood, Hotel Rey Alfonso X is in the city center and near a metro station. Museum of Fine Arts and Seville Auditorium are cultural highlights, and some of the area's notable landmarks include Giralda Tower and Alcazar. Check out an event or a game at Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza, and consider making time for Isla Magica Theme Park, a top attraction not to be missed. Our guests love the hotel's location for the sightseeing.
The hotel is in a very central part of the city, a stone's throw away from all the monuments. That can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. You literally have to walk for a minute and reach everywhere but it's also loud and you constantly hear church bells. The biggest problem we ran into was that there was no air conditioning in the hotel. Apparently they only have heat during 'winter' which meant that in December with temperatures above 20c/65f, the room was a furnace. They advise you to open the windows, but it's so loud that you can't do that, and there were insects in the room already. We literally spent 2 minutes in the room on check-in and decided we couldn't stay here and changed our hotel. At least the staff was friendly and management kind enough to not charge us and allowed us to cancel our booking. Though, to be fair, it seems pretty standard in Seville to not have air conditioning at this time of year for a hotel in this price range. I just wish this was stated in the hotel's listing so we could have picked an alternative and not be surprised when we reached our room at night. The room was very small and basic as well, doesn't really feel like a "4 star" compared to what 4 stars are in the rest of the world. Seville being such a small and walkable city, I would stay a bit further away in a quieter area with larger hotel rooms.
