Me and my girlfriend went to Korea last Nov 20 to Nov 26, 2016. We thought of booking via AirBnB but one of my officemates recommended Yim's Haus, so we booked a room there. We were not able to locate the place immediately but eventually we did manage to find it. We met the owner Mr. Yim and he was very accommodating and nice. He showed us a choice of rooms to looked at first because there were two rooms available. The place is also across Changdeokgung palace. Mr Yim and his son was also very helpful in telling us how to go from and to a certain place. Overall, it was a awesome experience staying at the place.
Yim's House is also called Yim House. It's run by two brothers and the son of one of them. it is located in a quiet alley off the main road. There are one or two small lodgings nearby. The location is ideal for visiting three of the four main palaces in Seoul. One is five minutes walk away from Yim! The Insadong tourist shopping mini-village is close by. Many nice souvenirs, and some serious (not tourist) calligraphy and brushes. Good choice of Korean food. My room was super clean. Yim House is a small place, and the room was small. For one person it is enough. For two people, you can have two twin beds. But the room may be cramped if there is a lot of luggage. Wifi and TV, a fridge is provided. The place is well maintained although not fancy. I was most impressed by the cleanliness of everything, especially the bathroom. Please note that my room (by choice) had a shower which (as in some European places) did not have a stall. The whole bathroom can get wet. A room with bath tub and shower is available in other rooms. I preferred the wet bathroom. You can hire their car to go back to Incheon Airport for around 70-75,000 Won. Good deal. Subways are nearby, about 10-15 minutes walk. From that you could switch to Seoul Station and transfer to the line which goes all the way to the airport.
Good price for this guesthouse and it is well located. Furthermore staff is very helpful and kind. They provide all kinds of details a traveller need (Forecast, Bus and train schedules, umbrella...etc). A good place
I came back and stayed this time on my own. Amazing how they remembered me from the last time I was there with a friend. As usual the friendly staff and the cozy feel of the hotel was the major plus for me. My room is cleaned daily and I really appreciate it. Being close to all the tourist attractions is also a plus since I can just walk and go back to the hotel to change clothes when it gets so cold or when Im too burdened with my shopping bags and go out again and walk back. I definitely will stay here again when I go on vacation next year.
Just stayed here 6 nights in October 2015, and I was more than satisfied with the place. First to mention is it's great location, few steps from Changdeokgung, about 10 minutes from Insadong and Gyongbokgung palace, and you can reach 3 metro lines within 10 minutes walk. Just a perfect starting point to explore the wonderful city of Seoul. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they all speak pretty good English. They were always up for a short talk and giving me advices about places and transportation. The rooms and services are quite basic, but for its really good price it's more than enough to have a good rest after the long days spent with sightseeing. Everything was clean and was working in the room, also the free Wifi was nice and fast. I will definitely consider staying here on my next visit in Seoul. Thank you for everything Mr Yim and all your dear staff!
Stayed here in 2011 Friendly staff & spoke good English With left Near to notable heritages A little far from the Metro by walk Around streets are black and quite in night Old-style room decoration Recommend for the travelers with limited budget
the staff were so helpful at Yim's House and gave us tips on where to go. The rooms are small but very clean - just what we were looking for. The only thing they could add is a place to have coffee and a simple breakfast. John, one of the staff, was fantastic. He drew mud maps of places we wanted to go and made suggestions.
After 2 years, i came again to Seoul Korea. First travel was on 2013. Frankly, Seoul are really close to my heart. Felt very comfortable during my stay. Definitely without any doubt Yims House is my priority option for accommodation. As previous years, kindness of Yims House staffs still remain unchanged. Mr Yim & Mr John always friendly and treat u well. I strongly recommended my friends to stay at Yims House if they intent to travel to Seoul Korea. Located at Jongno and surrounded with place of Interest such as Insadong, Hanok Village, Palace, Dongdaemun are the reasons why Yims House is always being my First Choice. Its Great Location with Affordable Price. And I will definitely come to Seoul again and again and Of Course Yims House will be my TOP CHOICE
A Short walk from the subway station, across the street and about 300 meters from the front gate of the Changdeokgung palace make for a fantastic location. We found the staff were amazingly helpful in showing us what to see and how to do it cheaply. In all of our travels we have never run in to this degree of exceptional service, and in a budget hotel no less!! The street is quiet, the mattress firm ( exactly what I prefer), the room very clean, and the neighborhood has everything you need within a short walk. We even checked the prices of a few guesthouses in the neighborhood and Yim's place was considerably cheaper. We stayed here for 5 nights and loved it.
Me and the wife stayed at this place for a long weekend. Despite the hostel being down a small quiet street, it was relatively easy to find. And was in an excellent location near the main shopping area and tourist hotspots. When checking in we found the staff at Yim's House were friendly and willing to help us and provided us with a lot of information. The room however, appeared somewhat dated, with very basic, old, yet comfortable furniture. However, the room did have a shield (see the picture) if you ever needed it to protect yourself in the middle of the night. Overall this place was OK, however, I probably won't stay here again and try my luck at another place in the same area.
