I wanted to low price, and I was looking for a private room guest house and used it. There is a private shower room in the room and it is convenient. However, the inside of the cigarette was scattered around the room when the room was not cleaned. The shower room did not seem to have many hair of the previous guest falling or being cleaned. There was no room slippers and so there was no cleanliness.
Stayed four nights at the Kimchee Gangnam Guest house. The location was great, the staff were really helpful and I felt totally safe as a single female traveller. As others have said, the rooms are very small and dated. My sheets were clean but they did have some old stains on… The room had a window but it was frosted glass so it did give it a prison cell type feel! However, for the money, this was a great little stay. I had my own room, it was quiet, the shower was good, the wifi was great. I loved South Korea. If I was to go back, I’d probably pay a little bit more and stay in a hotel rather than a hostel. But if you’re on a budget this place will do just fine!
Stay here for my first time to Seoul, really nice one and staff are helpful and friendly. Good English Close to station, and easy to walk around. I stay in a Single Room, very small one but you pay what you get (I would say it really smaller than my room in Hong Kong). The only problem for me is this area are too quiet during the weekend (business area), most of restaurant were closed from Friday night - Sunday. So I just went to McDonald for my last dinner. I would recommend friend to stay if they are budget traveler.
Location is perfect - easy walking distance from the subway station. For its location, the price is excellent. The single rooms are in the basement but still have windows because of the sloped terrain. If you check-in after 11:30pm, you have to let them know. When I arrived after 2am, the entrance was open, and my name was placed on list and a corresponding key was left in a bin. The guest and staff all seemed relatively young and the hostel operation seemed to reflect their carefree behavior. Don't expect anything normally found at a hotel. This really runs like a youth hostel but with guests of all ages.
I booked single room and am satisfied with everything. Plus: - nice staff. When I asked recommendations of Korean restaurant nearby, she even helped calling it to make sure it was opened - location is near with gangnamgu mrt station (take exit 3) - common room is nice - good price!! Minus: Small room. However I personally don't think it's a minus since single room in hostels in Korea and Japan are generally small. So it's common here. Will I recommend to my friends? Yes!
漂亮有趣，花小錢住江南。房間非常小，但twin房間(上下舖)有私人洗手間，CP值高，而且可以結識外國背包客。 Gangnam is a famous and rich area, so it is really value for money to stay here.It is convenient as several minutes to subway station, and quite a lot famous food stores nearby. The hostel looks elegant outside and fancy inside, we love the common area, well equipped kitchen and great atmosphere, you can know people from every corners of the world here. It is great for single traveler or backpackers, bedrooms are very small... but recommend to save money and try something special. We (two) booked a twin room ~ the room was really small, with only a bunk bed and little toilet, BUT at least a private toilet in your room. Staff are friendly and the area is safe, interesting experience for us.
I had booked single room, so the room quite tiny but have all everything you need and the stuffs was so nice and helpful, not far from the subway and too many restaurants nearby not expensive dish and so delicious.
Location - There is a convenient store very near the guesthouse which is open till ~1am. the guesthouse is very close to gangnam gu office station (line 7 and bundang line). there is a lift in the guesthouse and smoking rooms available. You can make your own breakfast in the morning. remember to clean your dishes and separate your wastes (important culture in korea). People - the staff were young, nice and fun to hang out with. some of them speak english/japanese Room- I stayed in a few different single rooms. it was very compact and i couldn't open my luggage full. the toilet was a sliding one right beside the bed. you can flood the room if you are not careful. You pay for what you get. the rooms are cleaned by volunteers and so they are not incredibly clean. The walls and floors were stained and could use some renovation. The staff will always do their best to help you if you have any issues.
I stayed here during mid September 2014 for two weeks in a single room, which was not bad. Like other people mention the room itself is quite small, yes indeed, but is perfect for the basic needs. Air conditioning was good, wifi was also good, the only bad thing about it is that you have to reconnect every time you change floors. Staff was good most of the times, you can make your own breakfast at the kitchen though I almost never did it. What I found quite disturbing was the turn down service, the staff was extremely noisy every time they clean out a room. In my first night I got lost, my Korean actually is quite none, so getting help was a lil bit difficult, but I manage to provide the guest house number and SAM (the manager) make the rest happen so I arrive nice and sound. That was really kind from him!! There is a small grocery store near by with awesome service, some coffee shops, some fast food restaurants, some restaurants also which I don't recommend if you don't speak korean, gangnam-gu station is quite near and basically is a quite neighborhood. I will definitely stay here next time I go to SK.
I stayed in a single room there for 2 weeks, so it was more of a goshiwon for me than a regular guesthouse. As all goshiwons, rooms are small and offer limited amenities, but this one was not the smallest one out there. Nethertheless, it offers very good value for your money, as long as you're aware of what kind of room this is (this is definitely not "hotel sized" by any means). The location is very good (near Gangnam Government Office station, on line 2 and Bundang line), although it's in the backstreets and could be indicated more clearly. But the great thing about this place is the staff. All the staff members were very freindly, and were ready to help out should have any question, and will be happy to order takeout food for you if you want. Another plus is that the communal room is nice and cozy, with a huge TV, multiple computers, ample room to sit, and also pretty much everything you would hope to find in a kitchen.
