Kimchee Guesthouse is conveniently located near the Gangnam office station, takes you about 5mins or less. Take note though that the way is quite hilly (in case you have big luggages) but I don’t really mind since it’s only for a few meters. The guesthouse has elevators which is always a plus for me! I booked a solo room and it’s really small. A meter from my bed is the toilet/shower while the available space to walk is already being occupied by my luggage. It’s cramped and kinda dated but nevertheless comfortable if you’re solo. I also loved the very hipster feel of the common area (where the kitchen is also located) in the basement. There had been days that they ran out of breakfast food (probably because there are a lot of guests) and there’s no refill. It was only 8am then so make sure to get up early for breakfast.
Located near Gangnam-gu office subway / line 7. Shops and cafes around, very quite at night time. You can use the subway to travel to the city center and other destinations. All you need is to change from line 7 to line 4 at the ISU station; it is a 5 -10 minutes walk underground to change the line. Taxis and buses are also available. I arrived late at night and my booking was automatically canceled because of now show, but many thanks to Diana, a wonderful girl at the reception, she sorted out everything with the manager and offered me a place. The guesthouse is clean and the rooms are very small. It is good place for friends to stay. The design of the dining area is nice, the breakfast is limited and the self catering is a lovely experience. Be prepared to do some washing while you stay there. Credit cards are accepted, but with a 10% charge. Free umbrellas are offered for use in case of rain.
I stayed in Kimchee guesthouse in Gangnam in the middle of september for over a week and it was the worst place ever for me to have stayed in the history of my personal trip. It was dirty af - I've asked to change my room three times, it was because the room ricked of mold to the level that I couldn't not bear. There were so many mosquitoes so that I couldn't even sleep. I eventually went down to the kitchen and tried to sleep there. Try not to be fooled by 'private room' - it's not bigger than Harry Potter's closet. Gangnam is an expensive area, I know. But it can offer more than this.
We recommend this guesthouse in Gangnam Gu Office, Seoul ! The guesthouse has a very good location since it`s not far from the subway, there are lots of restaurants/bars and convinience stores, cafes and shops around, and if you don't want to take public transportations, there is still complex malls around ! :D From there, you can easily go by walk to hot places in Gangnam (Sinsa Garosugil, Gangnam, Apujeong rodeo, Coex mall...) The decoration is nice and attractive ! It's a kind of vintage atmosphere. The staff is very nice, they can speak english and a lot of many languages !!! It's helpfull. The rooms are quite small but it`s ok, we had a private bathroom and it was just to sleep. The breakfast is good and you have a various things to eat, but you can still prepare your own food (big fridge available). The common are will help you to meet travellers :) You actually have anything you need at this place and it's a good deal for young / older people. We highly recommend it and Gangnan Gu Office is a good area, dynamic and attractive !! We will definitely come back ! #tchinguteam
I wanted to low price, and I was looking for a private room guest house and used it. There is a private shower room in the room and it is convenient. However, the inside of the cigarette was scattered around the room when the room was not cleaned. The shower room did not seem to have many hair of the previous guest falling or being cleaned. There was no room slippers and so there was no cleanliness.
Stayed four nights at the Kimchee Gangnam Guest house. The location was great, the staff were really helpful and I felt totally safe as a single female traveller. As others have said, the rooms are very small and dated. My sheets were clean but they did have some old stains on… The room had a window but it was frosted glass so it did give it a prison cell type feel! However, for the money, this was a great little stay. I had my own room, it was quiet, the shower was good, the wifi was great. I loved South Korea. If I was to go back, I’d probably pay a little bit more and stay in a hotel rather than a hostel. But if you’re on a budget this place will do just fine!
Stay here for my first time to Seoul, really nice one and staff are helpful and friendly. Good English Close to station, and easy to walk around. I stay in a Single Room, very small one but you pay what you get (I would say it really smaller than my room in Hong Kong). The only problem for me is this area are too quiet during the weekend (business area), most of restaurant were closed from Friday night - Sunday. So I just went to McDonald for my last dinner. I would recommend friend to stay if they are budget traveler.
Location is perfect - easy walking distance from the subway station. For its location, the price is excellent. The single rooms are in the basement but still have windows because of the sloped terrain. If you check-in after 11:30pm, you have to let them know. When I arrived after 2am, the entrance was open, and my name was placed on list and a corresponding key was left in a bin. The guest and staff all seemed relatively young and the hostel operation seemed to reflect their carefree behavior. Don't expect anything normally found at a hotel. This really runs like a youth hostel but with guests of all ages.
I booked single room and am satisfied with everything. Plus: - nice staff. When I asked recommendations of Korean restaurant nearby, she even helped calling it to make sure it was opened - location is near with gangnamgu mrt station (take exit 3) - common room is nice - good price!! Minus: Small room. However I personally don't think it's a minus since single room in hostels in Korea and Japan are generally small. So it's common here. Will I recommend to my friends? Yes!
漂亮有趣，花小錢住江南。房間非常小，但twin房間(上下舖)有私人洗手間，CP值高，而且可以結識外國背包客。 Gangnam is a famous and rich area, so it is really value for money to stay here.It is convenient as several minutes to subway station, and quite a lot famous food stores nearby. The hostel looks elegant outside and fancy inside, we love the common area, well equipped kitchen and great atmosphere, you can know people from every corners of the world here. It is great for single traveler or backpackers, bedrooms are very small... but recommend to save money and try something special. We (two) booked a twin room ~ the room was really small, with only a bunk bed and little toilet, BUT at least a private toilet in your room. Staff are friendly and the area is safe, interesting experience for us.
