Kensington Hotel Yoido

Day time temperatures in the 80s and 90s but the bedding was winter bedding with no alternative but to sweat it out or to have no cover at all. No information was available in the room on how to adjust the room temperature which was HOT. Lamp in bathroom was between the two sinks. It lit up only one side of your face at a time so one had to move from one sink to the other to shave well. No washcloths were provided so one had to wash with a heavy towel. The bath towels were as heavy as a rug and useless. Front desk staff had no idea where one could get a cup of coffee before the hotel restaurant opened yet close by (out the front door across the street and two blocks to the right) was a 'working class' restaurant open at 5 am for the workers heading to their job sites. A great destination to those who go out for an early walk or run and would enjoy a good cup of coffee or a traditional breakfast afterward at 1/3 the hotel price.

The hotel was very adequate for my business travel needs. Plenty of restaurants behind the hotel. The subway was only a 15 minute walk. Easy access to the Han river for jogging. The area is a bit dead at night but that's because Yeouido is mostly office buildings. The Yoido Gospel Church can be loud on Sunday mornings. Overall, I'd be happy to stay at the Kensington again.

The Kensington was a pleasure to stay at. Good location near the Han River and and easy walk to the wonderful subway system. We stayed in an executive room and the Benita were well worth it.

We were on the Executive Floor and the room was amazing. They provide exceptional service, food and beverages. Great Hotel and strongly recommend the upgraded rooms. Staying there again in a week and looking forward to it. Great bed, pillows and duvet!

The hotel is located in a nice place and there are many restaurants around.

this is a good enough hotel. good restaurants near by.

Location is perfect but rooms are smelling old. The hotel is need to be modernized.

this is an old hotel catering for business and church groups, however, have not renovated in recent years so in terms of cleanliness and liveliness, it is old, dark and not up to date. The lobby wifi was not working, and room service stops after 9:30pm which is quite inconvenient for business travelers.

I have been staying at this hotel a few times over the past year. I like the location (close to the National Assembly, close to the Han River, many restaurants and metro stop). You can go to almost any place in the central Seoul (Gangnam and Gangbuk) within 30 minutes of metro ride or taxi. Good value for money. Friendly staff. Comfortable room, wireless internet in rooms, etc.

The hotel was very nice with airport transportation right to the hotel. Subway was about 5-10 minutes away. The location was about 30 minutes from the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They could speak English. They were nice enough to upgrade us to an executive suite, because the room we were in did not have internet working. The only problem with the room was the hard bed. Wish it was more comfortable.

This has to be one of the best kept secrets of Seoul if you're trying to be practical. Hotel staff were very friendly, not very far from Myeong-dong, Yongsan-gu, and Gangnam-gu. Subway station is also close by. The room was a bit small but very homey. It almost felt like a 5-star hotel. Great selection of restaurants too.

This hotel in principle is pretty nice, but I would say it is overvalued other than the capacity to hold large gatherings and its location.

When looking at reviews for the Lexington online, I found them to be very polarized -- either very low, or fairly high. I had booked my room based on a recommendation from a colleague who had stayed there in January, and found it to be quite nice. After seeing my room (on the 9th floor) upon check-in, I found it was very rundown and had seen better days. The rug was grungy, the bathroom was quite basic and the A/C was barely functional (which was an issue considering it was about 35C outside). There was also a very musty/smokey smell coming from the hall way (this was a non-smoking floor) The second day we complained to the front desk about the condition of the rooms and my colleague mentioned that he had stayed on the 13th floor last time, and the rooms were much nicer. The staff informed us that those rooms were an upgrade, and would cost 33,000 KRW a day to upgrade (about $25), which we agreed to. What a difference -- it still wasn't 5 stars by any means, but much nicer, better furnishings, no smell, and the A/C functioned better. The first room looked like it hadn't seen any maintenance since the 80's, this one looked to be reasonably kept up. Location wise, it is no where near the tourist area, if that is what you are looking for. 10 minute walk to the financial district (which was convenient for us), but if you are nervous about not being able to communicate, you might want to look else where (hotel staff were fine, but many restaurants in the area require you to be adventurous and deal with non-English speakers)
