I stayed here because I came to Seoul to take a course. Boarding was included in my tuition. This was my first experience staying in a guest house/hostel. Front desk was excellent and very helpful. I read previous reviews so I did bring my own bath towel. Thanks to previous reviewers the bath towel is much needed. The room was small but sufficient, unfortunately there was zero closet space so you have to be creative about where to hang your clothes (window handle). Bathroom... toilet and shower all in once space, no shower curtain, just shower right in front of sink. Great water pressure though, better than some 5 star hotels. They say the rooms are cleaned every 2 days, mine was cleaned after 3 days so my room was cleaned ONCE for the entire week I was there. Luckily, I'm a very clean and tidy person. Location is excellent as subway and bus stop are right outside. To the left of the back door is an entire street of fabulous restaurants and covenience stores. Within a 10min walk away is the famous Garosu=gil Road where you will find amazing shopping and cafes. So overall a decent stay, the best thing was the location.
We are Taiwanese and for a couple trip to seoul. We choice this hotel cause of excellent location near by sinsa station exit 6 about 1~2 minutes and by the way exit 8 have elevator easy for baggage carrying. And chloe guesthouse have very good price and include simple and enough breakfast. But remaind other travelers, they don't have elevator to hotel and hotel in the third floor so carry baggage will be feel a little tired.
The stairs. It's a bit problem when you're carrying big luggage. But the staff always willing to help. But, very near to the subway station. Easy access to Garosugil (a walking distance) and other parts of Seoul. Simple breakfast but it's more than enough. Wifi is super! Other travelers complained about small room but we're OK with that. Well, most of guesthouse and economy hotels in Seoul have small room. Not much of a concern for us. It's just that the towel is not a bath towel but a hand towel. Hope the management can improve that.
I stayed there 2 nights in December then came back for 10 days in January. The stuff Helena and David were nice and helpful. Both times I stayed in spacious and clean rooms, if u are a light sleeper then just avoid the room by the reception, it gets to be noisy in the early morning but not that much anyway( just if there is a phone call or a customer checking in or out). The second time I came back Helena gave me the possibility to choose between two rooms since there was an availability and even recommended the most convenient to me, thanks to her I had calm and peaceful days :) and on top of that early check in. They can help if u need to order food or have any question. I recommend this guesthouse, the rooms were surprisingly in a good state than a 4stars hotel in the same area! It's not perfect but it's more than enough and all what You need especially if you are solo traveler.
Value for money! Around 5mins to Jogno 3-ga subway station, 5mins to Insadong market, 5-10mins to reach the main Cheonggyecheon Stream, 10mins to Gwanghwamun Square, 15-20mins to Gyeongbokgung Palace & Changdeokgung Palace, 30mins to Bukchon Hanok Village & Myeongdong if you prefer walking. Room and corridor has modern design. Ok for 2 Asian people but small for English men. Water is available 24hrs, for hot water we just boil it as there is an electric kettle on our room. You can also get coffee sachet anytime if it is available. We are not able to check their laundry and breakfast as we always go out early but they are free. Wifi is great! There is a tv and fridge. Only drawback is the private comfort room as it is small, can barely fit 1 person. But all in all this is a good choice for backpackers.
Very good location , bus directly from airport , and from front to air port. Near to subway exit 6 Nice hostel , good staff ()chez I prefer this Near to coex By bus no 8 exit 1 Coming back by metro is easy
My review is really 3.5 stars... CGH is great value and in a great area of Gangnam. Garosu-gil is around the corner and Apujeoungrodeo is about a 15-20 minute walk away. The hotel is adjacent to the #6 exit of Line 3. It's about a 30-minute ride to Myeondong. Restaurants and coffee shops abound in the neighborhood, The staff I dealt with was great and she was very helpful in providing me information on the airport limousine bus. Breakfast is basic, but enough to start the day (eggs, coffee machine, juice, toast, butter and jam). The kitchen is available for use should you want to cook. As others have written: the room is small, but expect that in a densely populated city like Seoul. If you want space, you'll pay higher or be farther out. The beds are also hard, but it's typical in Korea. There's a fridge and kettle inside the room. Bring yr own towel as well because the hotel only provides hand-size towels. On to the thing I had issue with the most... the bathroom. The bathroom is ensuite and the toilet is not separated from the shower head. I feel they need to install better ventilations to absorb the excess moisture. Every time I walked into the room, there was always a musty smell. I kept the window open, but it didn't really seem to help...I started to develop an allergy and having a dry throat and sneezing. Perhaps I should have asked for another room, but I expected other rooms to be more or less the same as far as ventilation went. All in all, CGH is great value and in an amazing location. However, I hope they can put in better a shower exhaust...I would definitely return.
The usual hotels I stay in were booked out or too expensive during a holiday weekend. I have stayed here before and had a pleasant experience, but I won't stay again. It's a good value, especially for the neighborhood, but it's not very clean and is no longer very well-maintained. Because of the layout, you start hearing breakfast prep at around 8am, which is inconvenient if you wish to sleep in. Check-out is at 11am. It's well-located and a private room with a bathoom is ideal, but it's not just that clean, comfortable or worth a repeat stay.
Jeun, the temp manager was excellent. He helped us with maps and Korean writing to taxis and attractions. We would have been lost w/out him! Great guy! Very hard to find location, it's on 3rd floor with no elevator. Travel light! :-). The rooms are clean, with fridge, the bed was comfy. You have to jump over your stuff as the room is very small, or just dive onto the bed from the door. Secruity is great, but if you remove the key from the key holder, all electricity goes dead and your water will be warm when you return. Saves energy though. We chose this hotel for the price and for something different. They even have breakfast items. Close to many cafes and restaurants. English is hard to come by, so make sure you have some translation or speak some simple Korean. We ended up with a taxi driver who spoke NO English, fortunately we had Chloe written down in Korean, and it being close to the Sinsa subway station and he was somehow able to find it. It was a great 3 day visit. Great country.
I have stayed at Chloe Guest House four times in the past 3 months now as the last bus to my home is 10:10pm; too early to get to Dongbu Bus Terminal after any night-time concert or activity. Chloe G.H.is extremely convenient (except for 2 flights of stairs to climb - no elevator) it is right next to exit 6 (or escalator at exit 7) of Sinsa Subway Station. The best thing at Chloe G.H. is the very decent cup of coffee their breakfast room coffee machine makes - it's nice knowing one can look forward to this for breakfast first thing in the morning! The beds are fairly hard (for many westerners) but comfortable and most importantly; they have clean, ironed, soft white cotton bed linen, pillows are fat and hard - I always take my own. Water pressure in the en-suite showers in every room I have stayed in is very strong. Towel provided is hand-towel size. Have found the place is quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only draw-back is the rooms I have stayed in only have a small window opening into the guest house corridor - one room I stayed in was especially stuffy and I felt the urge to go outside to breathe fresh air even when the air con was turned on. Sadly the room rate has gone up, the low price offer is no longer available - which has led to my booking another guest house for the night when I am in Seoul next week!
