We had a poor experience at this property. First, my colleague who arrived earlier than me was a bit frightened by the area; too dark and surrounded by thick foliage. Second, the outside of the unit and particularly the inside of the unit smelled of cat urine. I communicated this to the host who replied essentially (paraphrasing) 'that isn't possible because the upstairs tenants are very tidy and they clean out the litter box each day. Besides, all the other reviewers provided good reviews." Isn't it interesting that one could smell cat urine around the property as well as on the inside without actually knowing that there was a cat living in the other unit? The response was 'I guess each guest has different levels of sensitivity.'' I suppose that's true; if you have any sensitivity to smelling cat urine, I'd suggest this isn't the property for you. I'm sure the host will respond with the implication that my review is inaccurate; I can't control that, and don't care to argue about it. With respect to the property, it was a little weird that there was an access door that presumably leads to the upstairs apartment, but the lock required having a key. I don't know if that means on the other side of the door, there was a lock mechanism that allowed the upstairs tenant to access the lower unit? It seemed odd. Good luck in your property search; caveat emptor.
