I debated 2 or 3 stars. In fairness, there was much to like about this hotel. But the negative experiences were significant; I would not stay here again. 1. Location. Perfect. Couple short blocks from the railroad station, and a few more yards to the Old Town, without being surrounded by tourists and travelers. Quiet, calm block. 2. Lobby. Big with lots of places to sit. leather chairs. Games for kids and adults (pool, fusball, ps4, etc). Registration desk is one end of a big rectangle bar. Can't fault them for creativity, but it was strange. The lobby was loud at times, and I personally found it uninviting, but I think most travelers would like it. 3. Service. Every interaction I had with staff was fine, but I got the impression that everyone had something else they needed to do. A little cold. 4. Room a) no fridge. Really? b) no coffee or tea in room. Again, really? c) door needed to be pulled very hard to close, otherwise it looked closed, but could be pushed open. On exiting, it was necessary to access the door from the outside with the room key, and then to lock it, otherwise it would lean to, but not lock. d) housekeeping entered the room twice when I was in it, both times without knocking, the second time an hour before checkout e) wifi was just abysmal f) water stopped flowing in the shower. I dried off, got dressed, and tried again before going to complain; it had come back. Management might complain that I did not bring this to them or give them a chance to fix it. They are right, and it still should never have happened. Penta was not the cheapest hotel in town. I chose it expecting some nice extras and comfortable surroundings. Instead, they missed on some big things. I would not stay here again.
A large number of rooms but attention to detail in the decor makes this hotel stand out from the rest The library in the lobby is beckoning (although 99% of the books are in German, not surprisingly) & even the lifts have been decorated with style. The room was light, air conditioned & a good size & looked out onto the 'courtyard' area in front of the hotel. Decor was a modern take on retro & very appealing Beds were very comfortable & had good pillows. Breakfast was the usual selection of cereals, cheeses, cold meats & fruit but was of a higher standard than average. Easy walk to the main railway station & staff extremely pleasant & helpful, even assisting us to make a call to Prague in an effort to recover some stolen property. Would definitely stay here again
Large, but well designed hotel, appealing rooms, nice and spacious spa area, great lobby area, but pricy drinks (hotel price level), combined reception and bar is a nice idea but can result in longer waiting times for service requests.
We were there several days but never used the pool, spa, or small exercise room. The bar was handy, immediately inside the door, but when things get busy, you'd better grab a dinner waiter when you can! Breakfasts were large, varied, and good. Cappucino came from a machine but was good.town is close enough to walk; there are taxis available. You can't leave anything behind in a drawer, since there are no drawers, but there is a small closet area by the door with shelves and boxes for your things, a spacious bathroom with tub/shower, and a nice full length mirror.
The hotel was compete surprise to us. Very nice design of the common space as well as very friendly staff. The hotel rooms are nice and tidy. We had our breakfast in the lounge on 2nd floor where we felt like in a super cozy living room.
I've stayed 3 times now and on the first two occasions I had a room high up at the back. On one of these earlier occasions I visited a friend's room at the front. Oh my god was it hot? Horribly so... This year I specifically asked in both my online booking and at the check-in desk, that I be given a room at the back. I was assured that although I had been given a room at the front, being on the 1st floor meant it would be fine. It wasn't. It was horrible and really spoilt by visit, making me unable to rest and feeling uncomfortable any time I was in the room. I am very disappointed and considering staying at the Radisson Blu next time. I mean seriously, I paid 100 euros a night for the room and a further 70 euros a night for Club Lounge access. The more I think about it, the more angry I am. Urgh. Great hotel ruined because you don't bother to have proper air conditioning.
The Pentahotel is a great hotel, stayed there many times over the years and the staff are very friendly...good location, great rooms and a wonderful bar (which is open in to the wee hours of the morning)...my only criticisms if I had to make one is that the towels in the room are too small, annoying to step out of the shower and only have what I consider to be a hand towel...and the air con can be hit or miss, has been quite hot this week but the air con only seems to blow the air around rather than cool it down...but still the hotel is brilliant, I will be back next year
The worst problem I have with your hotels is the WIFI. It is absolutely poor. I have to log back in about once each 2 hours even though I have paid for a 24 hour service and the download speeds are terrible. I have had to visit your front desk twice for them to call the internet provider to reset my service because it locks me out. This time my phone in my room did not work AND my a/c did not cool which I did not say anything to the front desk. I hope my ne t trip is better.
Stayed here for 3 nights in May 2017. Hotel is very nice and modern / boutique. We had a club room, which was excellent and the access to the club lounge was really good, and excellent value. Staff were helpful and spoke good English, which helped us !
I stay all over the world and in many different hotels and by far the wifi at the Penta Leipzig is without a doubt the worst internet of any hotel. You need to ditch "the cloud" and get something faster than dial-up speed. Your pillows are horrible too. Get real pillows.
