I spent the weekend at this hotel and I have to say, the best I can say was that it was very average indeed. The decor is straight from the 90s! When I checked in, I was informed that I had been given one of the nicest rooms in the hotel! It was fine but if that was one of the best rooms, I dread to think what the others were like. This hotel does not have aircon and was like a greenhouse! Nothing can be done about the weather of course, but perhaps the hotel could offer a fan? My Accor status wasn't recognized once here - not the end of the world but usually Accor hotels at least mention it! I had dinner in the bar after I arrived. Every hotel bar in the world does a decent burger so I thought I would try theirs. It arrived and whilst it looked good, it wasn't just cold in the middle, it was actually still frozen! There's absolutely no excuse for that! I wasn't offered a discount/refund - I was given 4 small slices of bread with olive oil with a comment that it was "with the complements" of the chef. Breakfast was pretty decent to be fair - there was a good selection of hot and cold food to cater for most palettes. Apparently this hotel has a 4 star rating - I would challenge that and say that it's 3 Star at a push. I am a regular guest at one of the Berlin Mercure hotels, which is a world apart from this and has a 3 star rating. Disappointing - I would not return to this hotel at all. I am a loyal Accor guest and hence chose this - however I would recommend looking at another Leipzig hotel - there are plenty better choices.
Apart from the check in, the staff i talked to to book a taxi or for direction were incredibly unprofessional and made you feel like you were annoying them. In the evening i asked a receptionist to call a taxi, she bearly acknowledged me, made a call -to the taxi company; they seemed to have a great laugh!- then went back to chatting with her colleagues. I called her back, asked if she did book it, she seemed bothered just answered "yes!" and went back to chatting. The room itself was ok, nothing special and looked old. I won't come back.
Perfect hotel if you are going to WGT. Close to Moritzbastei, the trams and the center of Leipzig. The hotel is wellknown Mercure quality - good rooms, nice personnelle and good facilities. Recommended.
The hotel is in a very quiet area near the Medecine school. The restaurant offers very good food. There are not so many restaurants option in that area so one can eat at the hotel three times a day. The staff is friendly.
In many ways, this Mercure hotel is absolutely perfect. Great location, nice rooms, friendly staff, etc... but how on earth can they be running a 4* hotel without air condition? Beats me. But heck, as long as it's not too hot outside, I'm always happy to stay here.
Hotel check in fast and quick,rooms superb and clean . Hotel was smart and clean and had a relaxing bar area. Breakfast room was large ,clean and airy . vast range of breakfast from full english to continental
This Hotel is great for a business stay in Leipzig. There is WiFi in the hotel, good service at the reception and at the bar. The rooms are clean and quiet. The center for shopping or restaurants is 7 minutes walking distance.
The hotel is easy to get to from the city, clean and the staff are both helpful and friendly. The breakfast bar is really good, though I didn't eat in the hotel in the evening. Check-out was smooth and the price was a little less than my booking confirmation.
This was my first stay at any Mercure hotel and I must say I expected more from a 4 star hotel. The most disappointing aspects were paper-thin, cheap towels which are not up to a 4-star hotel standard and the pillows which were a joke! They don't deserve to be called pillows. As another reviewer mentioned, it's like they're filled with air and the moment your head hits the pillow, it sinks right through it! Obviously I didn't sleep well and that's the biggest problem because I chose a superior room facing the courtyard precisely so that a good night's sleep would be guaranteed. The bathroom was also not up to standard and needs refurbishment. Maybe I'm being too critical of the hotel, but it was pretty expensive (105 EUR for one night, breakfast not included in the price) and the hotel is not even in the city centre, so I expected it to be really grand. And it could be, if only the management would pay attention to the issues I've listed above, pillows being the number one problem. Other than that, the hotel is good. As a silver Accor member, I got free drink vouchers for myself and my partner, which was a nice touch. Breakfast is a bit overpriced (16 EUR per person), but is excellent and includes anything you might wish for. The hot options are eggs (boiled and scrambled), bacon, beans, delicious meatballs. There is also salmon and other fish, I think, as well as typical continental options. I recommend the breakfast and the whole restaurant is very nice. The staff are all great, very polite, and both the check-in and the check-out were a breeze. So I do recommend the hotel, but wish the management would do something about the towels and the pillows so that they might leave a better impression.
This hotel is nice in most respects (rooms, the usual amenities), but if you need to use the Internet (and today-- who doesn't?), you should stay elsewhere. Logging in is a challenge-- it is one of those detestable schemes without a password, but with paid options and the need to fill some form with your name and some number, etc. When that fails (it will), you go downstairs to the reception desk and ask for help, where they have no idea how to get you logged in, and will hand you a sheet of paper with a telephone number to call for technical help. Eventually you might succeed in connecting to the internet, only to discover that the network "speed" is around 1 mbit/second, which is enough to slowly download emails that have no pictures, but is useless for anything else. I short, if you are into expensive (but wonderful) breakfasts, go there. If you need to use the internet for anything-- stay elsewhere.
