TRYP Sao Paulo Tatuape Hotel3.5 out of 5.0

Sao Paulo is HUGE and densely populated city with little or no real pattern or planning separatiing commercial industial and residential areas. The streets and drivers are challenging. This was quite an eye opener for us Californians from Orange County! We came for a wedding and, thankfully, had our daughter-in-law as our guide. She and my son selected the hotel. They had spent time there previously. If we had to return to Sao Paulo, we would be happy to return to this hotel.
Chose this hotel due to location. Service was abysmal. Breakfast was average at best. Unfortunately no other options in this area... Lack of competition has created a hotel that is complacent and lacks any king of customer service. As an international guest i experienced major problems checkin in and checkout out. staff barely spoke english
Stayed one night late November 2016. Pros: Clean room with marvels, etc. Excellent Brazilian style breakfast buffet with lots of yummy fresh fruits in nice setting. Hotel building appearance-wise seems out of place when looked at its location and neighborhood - not a tourist hotel. I feel cheated because I paid $90 per night but right now it's advertised as $60 per night in tripadvisor. But, my reason for 2 stars are: 1. Mini-refrigerator in room (filled with canned drinks for a charge) does not work. It's for the show. We needed to keep medication chilled so had to call reception and they promptly brought small bucket of ice to room. Ice was all but melt in few hours. 2. They had small mound of snacks in table for a charge. I thought it was rather tacky. 3. Air conditioner dial fooled me such that 21 degree C does nothing. Only when I set to the lowest setting that it kicked in, and even that after couple of hours. Bad. 4. Wifi is spotty.
I went to Tryp Tatuape to be near Arena Corinthians when I went there for Olympic Games. It is located near Tatuape subway station (10min walking from distance). From this station to Arena is 3 stops only. The hotel has a very good breakfast (included in room rates) and an excellent room with quiet floor. Parking fee is BRL 25/day.
I stayed here in January of 2016 & loved it! The neighborhood is "mixed" in that there are many big & small apartments/homes and lots of little shops. Walking around was easy, and the people were very friendly! It's not too far from a popular mall, and the many shops & parks along the way make it fun to walk. I can't wait to return!
I have stayed at this hotel for many years and unfortunately it's not the same as it used to be. For a business hotel the wifi is horrible, slow and constantly cutting off. In this part of São Paulo there are not very many choices so I guess there is not as much need to do as much customer service.
Spent a night here and found the hotel to be excellent. Rooms were very spacious, quiet and comfortable with everything I needed there. The breakfast was great with a good selection of food and drinks. Would definitely use this one again if I was in this area of São Paulo
The check in was horror. The front desk staff didn't tried to full fill my wishes, no help with the suitcases. I said clearly during check in this is the first and last time here. The staff didn't tried to convince me to come back again. The room was ok. But not totally clean especially the towels and the bed sheets. Even after changing I got again dirty towels. The breakfast was nothing special I would say the lower standard. The look of the breakfast room is also really not nice. The best was the checkout the front desk man was then really friendly! Just a little bit too late. If you can avoid this hotel!
This is a nice hotel in a convenient region of Sao Paulo (well connected both to the center and the other parts of the city via the nearby metro station Tatuape) and to Guarulhos airport by a direct public bus #257, also starting from the metro station - which is a particularly nice and cost effective solution. Going to Congonhas airport is also not a problem, you just need to take 2 metro lines and 1 bus to get there - but it also takes about an an hour, which for a huge city like Sao Paulo is not a big deal. The only bad things about its location, are that first, the hotel is about 1.4 km away from Tatuape metro station (15-20 minutes walk at least twice a day), and second, that Tatuape itself is not such a nice looking fancy area, even though it's safe and clean enough to feel okay walking around it. But apart from that, the hotel itself is well maintained, rooms are spacious, bathrooms are particularly good, breakfast is nice, service is also quite good. The only other weak feature about the hotel is the extremely slow wifi connection in the rooms (64 Kbps sounds like a good modem speed that would impress me 15 years ago, but today it's practically useless). There is an option to get a faster LAN internet for a weekly fee, but if you only carry mobile devices, you might just consider there's no internet in that Tryp hotel. Overall, for the money paid this is a very good hotel and I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding, my partner and I needed to have our phones to talk to people before the wedding and realised that there is only one wifi connection per room so only one of us could be connected to our phones at one time, the hotel charges you for a second connection. I had a long-haul flight and asked for my dress to be pressed and asked if they could have it done by a specific time because had to be at the church, they delivered it late so we missed the bus to the wedding then had the cheek to charge me 50% extra for express service and additional amount for the slip to the dress. The last nail in the coffin is when we went to pay and had told the receptionist that we had already paid for the rooms on arrival and just had to pay for the extras. She said that she would cancel the first payment and recharge everything in the same second payment. We checked our account after and they haven't cancelled the first payment so took double payment, we now have to spend time on the rest of our holiday rectifying their mistake and are that much shorter of money in our account.
