Doubletree by Hilton Sanya Haitang Bay4.0 out of 5.0

We booked 2 nights at double tree sanya to stay with our 2 kids. Our panoramic view was actually very spacious, with very nice view on the pool, the garden and of course the sea. Room was well arranged, clean but not spotless. Service in general is good but catered to Chinese mass tourism. On the good side, I would say, pools were nice, garden well arranged, hotel has a nice access to a private beach and the outdoor are somehow not to crowded. On the wrong side, beach is not clean, you can't swim in the sea (forbidden in haitang bay), breakfast is decent but so crowded it looks like a war scene, restaurants options are average and pricy. One more things, kids playground are as well quite limited. To sum up, it is a good middle upper hotel for family but no where near a luxury hotel.
Our rooms were perfect! We booked garden view and two rooms, they were interconnecting with a shared balcony. Our friends booked the same, we could put the kids to bed and then relax on the outdoor space. Although a little tired, the functionality was more important to us. The breakfast buffet was lovely, and despite the number of people (a long weekend) all stations were well replenished. A good selection of Chinese and western food. The pools were great, due to low season not all were open, but enough for us and the kids to enjoy a whole day poolside! The kids did some craft activities and despite the ages ranging from 5-9 they loved it... some great take home crafts. There was live music every night, our girls enjoyed dancing to the music! Throughout our stay the staff have been wonderful and very helpful, even with the occasional language barriers :-) The only disappointment was the government has closed all beaches in Haitang Bay for swimming.
Finally arrived after nearly 24 hours flight in the evening around 20h, heading to the restaurant's buffet, we are told it will be closed at 21h by the manager who seems very unhappy to see us. The breakfast is a war! 5 stars hotel asks you to go to find your coffee by yourself. Nobody clean your place where you sit on. Need to push chinese people around to get sth to eat (or you will be get pushed). No towel around the pool. If you ask, the staff told you "help yourself".Waste dropped in the middle of the hall may stay there during 3 days. Nobody speaks Chinese. It takes a century to make a poor cocktail in the bar each time. There's no spa, for this hotel located in nowhere and you have to be in the hotel, it's really lame. It's was Christmas day, many clients but many equipments don't work. In a world, nobody smiled to you from the beginning to the end during 5 days stay. It's typically a chinese village hotel, nothing to do with the 5 stars brand. It's a shame and a waste of money. I wonder how Hilton could be so bad.
I stayed here for 3 nights some time ago but got so busy I forgot to write a review. This hotel was very comfortable and I particularly enjoyed the open lounge areas with live entertainment during the hot weather. My room was modern and up to date and the facilities at the hotel were in good order. I'll stay here again on my future trips to Sanya.
Just a short stay but this is a fabulous location. A little out of the way compared to Yalong bay but worth the extra distance. Rooms are bright and well maintained. Food choices are varied and of good quality. This is a lovely location for a romantic getaway or a family holiday. The staff have some English which is good for a foreigner. Will definitely return.
This property is very far from anything, as with all the resorts in Haitang Bay, so you are pretty much stuck on the property unless you have a car. There were lots of pools, but when I stayed there, it was low occupancy so half of them, including the best one in from of the beach, were closed off. The result was that everyone was packed into the main hotel in the center of the property, and it was filled with huge inflatable toys. Also, there was an entertainment event scheduled for the day of my departure, and the setting up of the stage and sound system made the who place feel like it was under construction. Positive side was great recognition to Diamond members. One benefit was the option to sit in the VIP area of the restaurant during the breakfast buffet - it was a great option to escape the chaos of the buffet.
Two nights stayed here, a great welcome by the staff, Wendy in particular. A pleasant room but slightly damp atmosphere when it was raining. The food was excellent, we took the buffet option each night and as well as a fabulous selection on offer, the staff again were ultra attentive. We found the pool arrangements a little confusing. There are 4 pools but only 3 are referred to in any literature: children's pool, family pool and adults only pool. As the adult pool did not open until 3pm we opted for the family pool which was quite noisy and bizarrely we had to wade through the pool to get to a quieter corner. Then, when the adult pool did open, small children were allowed to use it.... That said we did have a very pleasant stay here.
The Doubletree and Conrad both by Hilton are next to each other so you can enjoy pools and restaurants in both. These two hotels are similar in setup to the Sheraton and Royal Begonia by SPG down the street. The Doubletree probably edges out the Sheraton in terms of breakfast buffet and swimming pools. The seafood restaurant is pricy but is of good quality. Their surf and turf was well done though on the expensive side. The Doubletree is a close walk to the movie theatre next door. There's a kids play club and kids pools as well as kids activities. For couples, the Conrad is the better Hilton Honors hotel. Less kids and more quiet.
The Hilton Haitang Bay is a very nice resort hotel in Haitang Bay. the pools are good, childrens activities are good the gym is good, the beach is nice. The staff is very friendly the only thing that I found un-inspiring is the breakfast. WE stayed for five days and every day it was the same buffet. When I challenged them for a poached egg I had to wait 30 minutes until they found the head chef. Great hotel for families but more suitable for Chinese than for foreigners. There is nothing to do outside of the hotel on that side of Sanya so be prepared to stay in the hotel. The happy hour is great because it starts at 1pm at the pool bar then shifts to the restaurant and end's at around 10 pm in the lobby lounge. ;-)
Large impressive hotel with attentive service from the start. Being someone that enjoys water sports such as sailing and jet ski-ing I was sorely disappointed that the beach is closed and there are no water sport activities available, booked the room for 3 days but the hotel totally understood my concerns and the reason for shortening our stay. Let us check out early with no charge so we could find another hotel that actually has these activities available. Breakfast was impressive with a large selection on offer and good quality food and beverages. The evening meal was slightly pricey and only soft drinks were on the Buffett, beer cost extra, but I have to say the meal and quality were excellent, steak was perfect and cooked on demand as was the pasta and shell fish BBQ, I was impressed. A few pools were available in the general public areas, we had a pool access room which seemed to have a slight condensation/damp problem. Overall a nice large impressive hotel with good service and understanding of the customers needs. Although we are a childless couple there was a kids club and kids pools available so I would say also good for families to stay there.
