We definately did not enjoy our stay at Anantara Sanya. 1. it's an old hotel and you can see that in every corner. Defect shower head in the room, mold in the restaurant around the climatisation and in the shower. 2.the service is awful.they don't speak a word of english!impossible to order a glass of wine or gin tonic. Even if those drinks are mentionned on the drink list, they were unable to understand what we wanted. 3. matresses at the pool area, which they normaly should put over the sunbeds, were wet and smell disgusting. They never entered them while it was raining outside and lying on wet matrasses while sunbathing is definately not fun 4. people, who were not guests at the hotel were occupying the sunbeds at the beach. 5.since there were not a lot of guests in the hotel, they closed the bar at 6 pm 6.Check in and out is very very long!!!40 minutes 7.no climatisation at the gym But the thai restaurant and the massages are good. However, we would never go back to that place,we definately did not enjoy our stay.
I stayed here for a few nights and was very happy with the room and facilities. Everything on the grounds were beautiful and the rooms were quite up to date and still maintained a Thai feel that coincides with the hotel chain. Large patios with great views, comfortable pillows and very large rooms. Great value for money for a 5 star hotel, as the room rate was surprisingly cheap. The bath tub was very large and cozy, as well as the beds. The staff is helpful, just maybe need to be reminded a time or two for some details. The only place that I felt fell short was the breakfast buffet. A bit flavorless and not as many options as I would hope for from a 5 star restaurant. I also had to pay extra for the buffet as it was not included in my room rate, which is fine had it been an adequate buffet, however, was not. Despite the morning buffet, I would still highly recommend staying here for your duration of stay in Sanya.
Pleasant, relaxing stay. If you want to go someplace to get away from the crowd, come here. It's a resort next to other resorts, but it's surprisingly quiet with little road noise or traffic. There are various activities to choose from, or you can choose to do nothing. I opted for the spa a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although only a few of them spoke English, and my Chinese is non-existent, they were able to satisfy my every need and assist me with every activity.
Overall the hotel is very modern, clean, and in a quiet location. The beach is in a great bay area which makes it ideal for swimming and relaxing in a secluded area. Water is semi-clear, murky at times, however could see fish and some simple coral. Pools are clean and well laid out. Staff should assist customers who want to eat poolside, when I asked to order food the worker pointed at the restaurant which was not the greatest since I had to stand in a classy restaurant in my swimming clothes dripping water all over the ground and freezing in the AC. Overall good experience though.
Location not convenience Hotel facilities need upgrade Not much activities can join within the hotel No function or event during the 5 days inside hotel Only Saturday has buffet Not much choice for food and the quality of food was bad
nice out side pool good service nice breakfast p but the waitresses can not speak english nice room and the location was really good . its a good snd reasonable place to stay and every one can enjoy it.
Anantara is a brand that we trust and Sanya was a place that we wanted to go to because it provides good weather in April and also because we want to explore new places. The biggest thing you will find out immediately about China, even in Shanghai, is that communicating in English is still close to impossible. Taxi drivers need the address you are going to in Chinese and even hotel staff. It was very difficult to communicate in Anantara Sanya, even when ordering room service (it could take 10-15 minutes for them to find the items). On the positive side, the villa is amazing, a lot of space and total privacy. You don't have to go out, unless you want to. The private pool is beautiful. The common pools look great but we did not try them. The sea is also good, although sometimes dirty outside and restricted in the areas that you can swim. Maybe Anantara and Intercontinental next door should work together a bit to make the beach more attractive. The Thai restaurant had excellent quality food, although it was almost empty. The buffet dinner on Saturday was really good as well. It seems to us that the tourists they get are mostly from China (or even HK), that we were one of the very few foreigners and therefore this Anantara has not geared up to international tourism. The DVD was not working for our own DVDs (probably region 6 only not multiregion and ours was region 2). Supposedly the Business Centre had a selection, but they only had 6-7 of which 1 in English and the rest in Chinese. Another thing to say is that generally China is expensive; maybe the RMB is overvalued because we really could not understand how the locals can exist with these prices (we tried the local supermarket and we did gauge the local pricing). GBPRMB 8.5 seems totally out of kilt, it seemed to us that it should be at least 10 if not more. Another awkward thing is the "pay as you go" system! You keep on making deposits with your credit card and if you run out of credit they chase you to make a new deposit. If you have underspent at checkout, they give you a refund. That's a very strange way of running a luxury hotel, as if we would run out and not pay our bill? The jewel in the crown is the Spa. You HAVE to try it. Excellent treatment, excellent staff, the best massages you will ever get. Anyway, overall an excellent experience and we would go back as the staff in Anantara did their absolute best for us, but be prepared for the fact that this is not an experienced international tourism set-up as something that you would find in Bali for example.
Good service, good environment！ The food is delicious, the room is clean and sanitary. The bathroom was large and spacious. It is quiet at night. The room was large and spacious. Everything in the hotel is full.
We picked it for location near scuba diving location. It was very nice. Not much to do other than pool and beach but that was a nice break for me who didn't dive. We are vegan, so the menu and buffet was a little challenging, but we managed OK. It was very quiet by the pool and it wasn't until the last day I discovered that they had pool drink service. I wish they came around to serve and take orders outside also.
Spent four nights at this hotel and much enjoyed the relaxing and peaceful ambiance at this boutique resort. We had a problem of the noise from the water generator on the top of our room the first night. We contacted Mr. zhu, the general manager, got the issue resolved right away. The room booked (ocean view suite) is so spacious facing the beautiful south sea. The breakfast buffet is served at the hotel's open air restaurant surrounding by tropical greens . The food is the best I ever had in the past ten years with so many selections. Great stay!!!
