I booked a room with see view, see the picture! The list of complains will be too long. Absolutely slum with problems ac, toilets, reception, personnel intolerable fried fish smells etc..nu will stay better on the beach
The Anemos Beach Lounge Hotel is in an excellent location. The staff was very helpful and professional. The hotel needs to revamp itself. It was clean, but not at all luxurious. The towels were like sandpaper. I don't know if it is because they are washed in salt water, but they were extremely rough. Although I didn't mind showering in salt water, it was not very nice brushing my teeth with it. Breakfast in the restaurant was quite pleasant. I did not like the location of my room, because it was close to the lobby, and I could hear the phone ringing at all hours of the night and the staff held noisy conversations outside my door.
When we arrived we were shown to a ground floor room. It was clean, fairly small but ok. We opened the windows to find that we looked out onto waste ground and a container. We unpacked with difficulty, one cupboard was screwed up and a drawer couldn't be opened because of the position of the bedside cabinet. There were 6 hangers in the wardrobe for 2 people. When we went for a shower the water was cold and became tepid. We spoke to a member of staff on Reception about our concerns. She was very sympathetic and said that there was a problem with the water. The next morning we met the Rep. We told him about our problems. -The Brochure was misleading - There were no facilities in the hotel - Still no hot water - no comfortable lounge in the hotel - no Fire or evacuation instructions - Access to 1st floor via marble staircase no handrail - No internet for over a day - Dangerous stairs with no hand rail - Lamp sparking - was changed - Had to ask for a hair dryer - Had to go out outside the building walk and down the road to get to the pool, there was no access from the hotel. - The bathrooms no hand rails ceramic tiles water from shower goes everywhere as no front screen. - The wifi only in public areas not consistent. Breakfast was served at a restaurant across the road. The Rep spoke to the hotel, they moved us to a smaller room with less storage but a much better view. We received 47Euros compensation for no hot water for 4 days. Some rooms have good views. Service from the Reception, the maintenance man and room maids was good, they appeared to be the only staff. The manager refused to meet me to discuss the issues. I would not return to this hotel, however I would return to this beautiful island and its lovely people. It is a very relaxed and welcoming place.
Wow, where do I begin. We booked a transfer through the hotel from the port to the hotel upon arrival and were charged €30 for the 15 minute ride. Note that a car rental is €25/day. Reception: The lady at the front desk is nice and I give them 1 star for that. She helped us with tips in the area and booked our car rental and excursion. Note that one of the bookings we did, we weren't able to do as the company refused to pick up on this side of the island. They always want to do pickups in Fira. Room: OMG!!! This was awful. This looks like a cheap motel room off a highway somewhere. It was SO small and smelled bad. The TV wasn't working as the previous guest broke the remote apparently. We were told they don't know when they would have that fixed (it was NEVER during our stay). The bathroom was SO tiny that you could barely close the door once inside. The toilet didn't always flush. The shower leaked all night one night and the water was salty and disgusting. We couldn't wait to get out of this hotel but were unfortunately booked for 4 nights. The bathroom would randomly smell like cigarettes (we don't smoke at all). The towels provided were so old and worn out. The door leading to the balcony that overlooked a parking lot/dumpster of junk had a rusty nail sticking out of it. There was nowhere to put your luggage, the safe in the tiny closet did not work. There was no hairdryer, iron, etc (normal amenities in a 4 star hotel). Breakfast: Horrible! Thankfully we didn't pay and we only ate there once in the end. The hard boiled eggs were overcooked (green ring around it), the juice was not fresh like at other hotels, only basic (and not good) coffee was included. Espresso was additional charge (this was not the case at the other hotels we stayed at). Area: This is a dodgy looking area. It is rundown, maybe was a developing place in the 70s that never took off. It is dusty and the road outside of the hotel has cars speeding by without a care of pedestrians. There isn't much around except an extremely over-priced mini market (we found one in Perissa that was more reasonably priced that was 10 minute walk). There is no public transport in this part of town so you will need to book a car, which we did on the last 2 days as we needed to get out of this hellish area. Pool: very small and the lounge bar looks like it has been open in 40 years. Wifi: There isn't wifi in the room. We had to constantly use our international data to look up things. Once again, not indicative of a 4 star hotel. Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. It was so overpriced for what it was and in a dead area. Do yourself a favor and ferry to Santorini for a day--bring your own water-- (the island is over priced and not much to do) and visit Oia/Fira areas. The rest can be skipped in favor of other areas in Greece.
We were with our group of 8 people in April 2017 staying here. Our first room on the first floor had no hot water and a broken air conditioner and was very tiny and overlooked the empty lot next door. The next day they upgraded our room to a bright airy upstairs room with a larger bathroom and beach view. Still NO HOT WATER for showers the entire time we stayed there! The upstairs room was very comfortable. The location is wonderful as it's right on the beach and there are great restaurants around and a mini-mart that can be walked to. The breakfast was pretty much nothing special. We ended up eating cereal and fruit each day. The view from breakfast of the beach is lovely. I do NOT recommend this hotel but the location was nice. Also the Free WIFI was in an out mostly and not available in the hotel room but only in the lobby.
It was the most terrible experience to stay in this "4"starred hotel I had ever been. Water was too cold for taking a shower. I wasn't able to take a shower on the next day. The staff wasn't helpful. My friends found the lightbulb in his room was broken after dinner. They called the staff to come up to change it but they were told to wait until tomorrow morning.
Was nice ppl working there. Helpful and nice. Was dissapointed about the lounge was not there. Which was a point we booked just there. Overall nice stay and can recommend general. No luxus. Plain and simple.
We booked this hotel via Thompson holiday paid extra to become half board, what a waste of money that was. The brochure portrays it as a big hotel, but really it's just rooms with a reception, you have to go to a fabrika Restaraunt over the road to eat. Breakfast was the normal buffet style and wasn't to bad it had choice, but when it came to evening meal you think you have the choice of there menu on the table, but no once they know your from the anemos and half board you only get a verbal choice of two , also we had a dessert and because we choose the same only one came out to share! We brought this up with the rep whilst we were there and also complained since back, not that it got us anywhere !! The pool area is very basic , no toilet no bar area, limited sun beds, rooms are basic but clean , towels are supplied, but they have seen better days. Wifi in the hotel is very poor sitting in the reception area is better, if your luck you may get it in the room. Very disappointed with Thompson holidays
We booked this holiday fairly late in July through Thomson Holidays (more of them later) and partly going off the positive reviews, which we appreciate are subjective. We booked via Thomsons a sea view room and paid a supplement for this. A week before we went (Our holiday was 20 September for 2 weeks) we noticed some awful reviews appeared which of course gave us much concern and we tried to get Thomson to look into it but they were overall pretty poor, mainly because it was booked through an independent travel agent. The holiday didn't start off the best with over 3 hour delay from Manchester and with it being an evening flight we knew we would be getting there late. We reached the hotel via our transfer bus after 1:00am and the Thomson rep simply pointed to the hotel entrance and left us which we thought was poor. The night porter came and collected our luggage and booked us in the took us to our room which I sensed was not heading towards the sea view area and once in the room to be honest it was very basic and wasn't at all what we thought we had booked given the pictures on the Thomson website. Whilst it was very clean throughout the bathroom was tiny and I expected seeing red blood marks around the room at shoulder height proving that someone had tried to see if you could indeed swing a cat in there! We asked where the sea was and the gentlemen opened the balcony doors and leaned over the balcony sideways and pointed in the direction of the sea. We live 50 miles from the sea and our sea view is as good as was the view from the room!! We expressed our concern to the gentlemen but in fairness there was nothing he could do about it at the time and suggested we speak with the management in the morning. The fridge was very old, small and looked horrible and you wouldn't want to put anything in it. By this time it was 1:30am and we decided not to unpack but to simply get to bed. We went to the welcome meeting at a nearby hotel the following morning and raised our concern with the Rep (Felicity) but she wasn't particularly interested to be honest simply saying that we should speak with the hotel who will have to move us , but she couldn't talk as she had meetings to attend - well thanks very much!! We went back to the hotel and met Nadia the receptionist who I shall say at this point was a breath of fresh air and she was exceedingly polite and helpful for the entire two weeks stay. We explained and she spoke with reservations who said that what we had paid for with Thomsons was what we had got (letter to Thomsons on its way shortly!!). We said there is no way we could stay in that room and she advised us that a room classed as a Superior pool/sea view room was coming available later that day and within the hour we had viewed it and it was like a different hotel. The room was much bigger, including lovely bathroom, very light with two large windows including french windows. and a leather sofa. The view was overlooking the pool and thereafter the sea and it was a fantastic room and we had no complaints whatsoever. It was on the middle floor also and accessed from the pool area rather than reception and via a lovely internal marble staircase within the suite. It was like having your own villa! The housemaid cleaned and changed all the bed linen and towels daily and she was a lovely friendly person as were all the staff we encountered during our stay. The A/C worked well and wasnt too noisey. The only downer on the room was the bed was a little too firm for our liking but it may be fine for others. We had the pool very much to ourselves as it was getting quieter and the pool and poolside areas were spotless. Fabrika was lovely for breakfast, yes it was a bit limited but how much do you want in a morning in those temperatures - there was cheese, tomatoes, bread, eggs, omelette, even bacon and sausage if required! Different cereals and yogurt, fresh orange juice which varied from powdery stuff to sometimes fresh juice which was nice. The coffee was really good and of course a basket of fruit. Perivolos offers a lovely long beach and the sunbeds allocated to the hotel were really good and we always had no problem in getting one. The bars and restaurants along the front near the hotel were lovely with very good food particularly Forty One and Seaside by Notos albeit perhaps a bit pricey as is most of Santorini to be honest. There is a good 30 minute walk along the front to Perissa where again there are an abundance of restaurants and it is busier than Perivolos. The local coop offers a pick up and return service from the hotel (reception simply ring for you and they arrive within 10 minutes so that you can buy your provisions from there and don't have to get taxis or a bus - very enterprising by the supermarket I thought. As aforementioned Nadia was very helpful with tourist advice. We hired cars through her and covered all the island easily seeing all the wonderful and dramatic views which Santorini has to offer. Eros wave bar about 10 mins away by car is fantastic for the day with great lounging facilities. Akritiri is well worth a visit both the old town and the Venetian castle and also Nicholas Cave Tavern on the beach front. As you drive there from the hotel you suddenly come across the stunning views of the Caldera and you can see why Santorini is so popular, particularly with cruise ships. The capital Thera or Fira is fabulous and I think is equal to if not better than Oia, the place where people bang on about for sunsets. If you want a classy sunset then be a bit decadent and book a front row table at Santo Winery where you can enjoy the sunset whilst drinking their gorgeous wine and eating platters etc. Cost us about 30 Euros for the bottle of wine and massive cheese platter. The wine generally is pretty expensive anywhere on the Island (cheapest we paid was 15 Euros but on average its 22-40 euros+ and one good tip to cut costs is to buy your wine from the aforementioned coop where you pay 2 Euros 95 for 1.5 litres of white, red or rose, You simply fill a plastic water bottle (Provided by the shop) from large barrels - the wine seriously was very good - then sit on your balcony with a few nibbles etc and people watch! Whilst everyone goes on about the sunsets I found that the sunrise from our balcony was fantastic and arguably better! I have previously said that the Rep was a waste of time and we never saw her the whole fortnight - she never tried to contact us to see whether we had sorted our initial room problem out which was very poor. When we asked reception if they had been given a time for our pick up a couple of days before we left she advised that the Thomsons folder had been removed from the hotel no doubt by the Rep and we never got any notification of our departure details. Nadia took it on herself to contact another nearby hotel reception who used Thomson and they told her the pick up details. Thomson overall from a Rep perspective get Nil points!!! Would we go back to Anemos? - yes of we booked it direct with them and thus reserved the same room or similar now we know the layout. Would we book with Thomsons again - at this stage probably not a;though I have to say the cabin crew on both flights were really good.
This is a great place. Ignore the negative reviews. Staff, reception and cleaners, are extremely polite and friendly. On the beach with no hidden extra costs for wifi, sun beds, safe, air con etc. Just about to watch my last sunrise before heading home after a two weeks fantastic stay.
