We stayed at this hotel with a group of Pilgrims. It was a wonderful location...walking distance to the Fatima Shrine. However, the food our group was served was just so-so, and the internet in our room terrible. The lock on our door had to be fixed while we were there because the keys they gave us just weren't working. This isn't a hotel that I'd be excited about returning to.
Location to the Shrine is a 5 minute walk. Nice gift shop in lobby. Having arrived late in evening, we required dinner. We a party of 12 ate in the restaurant, not impressed. We were a tad shocked at the quality of the food. Fish was not fresh, omelettes were cold . Good Portuguese wine . Breakfast had a variety of fresh fruit which was lovely , powdered scramble eggs should not be served in a four star establishment. If its proximity to the Shrine you need, I'd give it 10 out if 10, comfy beds, clean bathrooms although shower in bath. Would come back for the location.
This is a large hotel which accommodates large groups often on a pilgrimage to the near by Fatima shrine. Ours was a group of 140 using 3 large tour buses. The common areas are modern and clean but nothing special. The lobby bar is comfortable for conversation and drinks. The rooms are somewhat worn and sparsely furnished. Ours had 2 lights not working due to broken bulbs and I dutifully put out a handy "please repair this..." door hanger, which was ignored and placed back in the room in the information book! The lights were only fixed when I personally took the broken bulbs to the lobby desk and after some delay a housekeeper brought first one bulb, then a second to the room which I installed myself. I never did figure out how to get the TV to work and the Wifi was unreliable. The food was adequate but rather plain and did not seem to have a particular Portuguese flair. The one highlight was the hotel gift shop which had items of the highest quality and most reasonable prices compared to much of the cheap souvenirs available from kiosks near the shrine. My recommendation would be to skip the hotel and try another just as close to the shrine as there were many hotels within walking distance, some of which might even have a view to the shrine, which this does not due to being in a bit of a hollow a little too far from the shrine plaza.
very quiet hotel ideally located in a very beautiful small city. Everything is pleasant there both the surroundings and the structure of the hotel. The persaonal is very amable and ready to help. Large space and shop in the lobby.
The hotel has a perfect location. Very near the Shrine and souvenir shops. The staff speak very good English and are very helpful. I noticed they put too much air freshners/aerosol in the rooms after cleaning thus making the it smell too much perfume. Their toilets are old but the rooms are spacious. No hot water available for coffee nor coffee being available in their reataurant for early morning risers. Parking is free though. Except for the location, I am not staying here again.
Our pilgrimage stay in Fatima has been delightful and solemn had we not stayed in Santa Maria Hotel situated very near the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. Although the staff are helpful polite and courteous the room provided to us has been problematic to say the least. Wi-fi is iffy and password supplied by the front desk does not work often times maybe because a lot of guests are log in. The room is average size and clean. The lights are ample and strategically placed. With one queen size bed, the two pillows per person are small and too soft. It's not wall to wall carpet but instead synthetic wood tiles or "fergo". By the way the small fridge does not work even if I had to plug in the power myself when we arrived. The bathroom is clean, sanitized and has nice fixtures, bide and stuff but floor is covered with cheap linoleum and outdated gray colored wall tiles. LED TV is available with many cable channels. The hotel lobby is large with many sofas for quests and adjacent to their restaurant and bar. We will probably try other hotels in the neighborhood when ever we return to Fatima.
Recently stayed at this hotel and was not disappointed. The location is VERY close (walking distance) to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating The rooms were very clean and spacious. Did not hear any outside noise and was able to get a good nights sleep. The beds are very comfortable. The food in their restaurant was very good and they offered a nice selection..
It is really great hotel: comfortable rooms, nice bathrooms, great location (5 minute walk to the shrine), great staff, excellent restaurant with fantastic service and really good food. Private garage free of charge. Highly recommended
The hotel, staff, and included breakfast were very good. The many souvenir shops are not pushy. The local wine is very good. I would not bother with the little train tour through town. The procession at the shrine in the evening is wonderful. This is an amazing pilgrimage.
Very good hotel; bedroom palatial, comfortable; staff helpful (and with fluent English) Positioned very close to the shrine. Plenty of variety in the food (which was all served buffet style). One morning, when we'd been told to have breakfast at 7 in order to be ready for an early start, it turned out the hotel didn't start serving breakfast until 7.30. Breakdown in communications somewhere. That's my only criticism.
