A good value hotel, near all the seaside facilities, but lacked any charm or character, staff were efficient and professional, but an odd smile would help, overall we got what we paid for but it could have been a lot better with with some effort on the hotel's behalf
We enjoyed this hotel very much. Very close to a lovely promenade and easy to take the local bus into the centre of the town. As it is the capital of the province, it has a character all of its own and doesn't exist solely as a ferry terminal. A very pleasant place to spend a few days.
We got here in the afternoon. The WIFI is very slow. When I said that at the reception the lady said I was wrong and the only person complaining about it. She was rude, very rude. The Hotel is old. The good thing about it is the location.
This is a 3 star hotel at best. No idea how it earned a 4 star rating. The rooms are old and need updating. The bathroom has laminate wood flooring. Add that to the fact that the shower has no door or curtain leaving the floors soaking wet...you do the math. The mini bar fridge was disgusting--the bottom of the inside had sticky, brown stuff dried all over. It clearly has not been wiped down in God knows how long. I will echo previous reviews--no sound proofing and you have to slam the doors to the get them the shut for some reason. I will give credit that the bed was comfortable and clean (crisp white sheets and white duvet). I refuse to stay at hotels that do not use duvets and white sheets. Also I smelled a lingering cigarette smell when you walk into the hotel and especially in the hallways. I get that this is Spain (good luck escaping cigarette smoke anywhere) but this is the first 4 star hotel I've stayed at in Spain that smells like people DO smoke inside somewhere... Overall not impressed and will not stay again. 3 stars for what it is.
Excellent Hotel, great accommodations, within walking distance of the most excellent beaches other hotels and restaurants, though the hotel is equipped with its own restaurant. Very cleaned and well staffed.
Good location near the beach and casino. It’s a pleasant hotel but as many other reviewers have said, the rooms are not soundproof, we could hear the people next door. The room was clean with attractive furnishings. It had a safe and mini bar. The shower was over the bath but there was no shower curtain and the water splashed all over the floor. But the towels were big, soft and fluffy. Fast wifi There were 12 of us on a tour and the 3 course set menu we were served was fairly ordinary, eg: desert was a small bowl of cold custard. The a la carte meals being brought in to other guests looked very good though, perhaps we should have ordered from the menu. Four of our group of 12 were English speaking and the waiters were surly and unfriendly toward us. They were happy enough to joke around with the Spanish speaking people however.
Only stay here if you do not mind hearing the people next door going to the toilet, farting, blowing their nose and their whole conversations. Rooms are not sound proof at all!!!!!!! Tried to sleep and all I could hear were people walking down the corridor, conversations and slamming foors! At one stage when I had my eyes closed I could hear a man laugh and I jumped up out of bed as I thought someone was in my room it was so loud
Just stayed at the hotel for several nights and it has some good features but as highlighted by other reviewers, the bedrooms have poor sound insulation and the locks work in such a way that nearly everyone bangs their door shut. You can hear most things going on around you from a flushing toilet to a shower in operation. The wifi is patchy but the rooms whilst on the small side, are comfortable and the air conditioning is good. The hotel has its own on site underground car park which is easily accessible.
Our usual hotel round the corner was fully booked so tried here instead. A bargain for €40. OK it's a typical, large hotel with little atmosphere, but the staff were friendly, checking in/out easy and there is underground parking. Not cheap at €12 but worth it as it's not easy to find any space nearby. The room was large, clean and comfortable with all you'd expect from a chain hotel. Yes the walls are thin and you may hear neighbours, and yes the free wi fi is very slow....but hey, at that price I'll put up with it. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we knew there were excellent tapas bars just two minutes down the road. Ideal for a night before or after a Brittany Ferry crossing. We would certainly stay there again.
Stayed here last year and it was a great deal around €45. This year it's €73! Ok prices change but nothing has changed with the terrible wifi!! Best signal is sat on the toilet where you get 3 bars but still continuous buffering. Tried 3 devices and all the same as good as useless. I'm using 3 g on my phone to write this. It's 22.50 now and for the last hour a party has been held on the terrace below and it sound like I'm sat in a chicken hut with a fox prowling !! Nothing but clucking. These days we all need to connect to Internet for a variety of reasons. To find that it's impossible to achieve is frustrating. I hope that others who stay here will comment on their experience and review the wifi. I was going to stay tomorrow also but the poor wifi has done it for me I'm moving on to another hotel solely due to the wifi. Santemar if you are reading this review get it sorted as you will lose customers. This is not recommended as a business hotel or transit hotel due to poor communication infrastructure.
