Ocean View Hotel

We enjoyed out time at Ocean View. There was not a pool as indicated by the photos associated with this hotel, but that did not deter our fun. The majority of the staff was accommodating with the exception of Carlos. He did not seem to care at all to check us in even though we paid for the room in advance. He treated us like we were a bother. I did not feel welcome. The hotel was great as far as location and general cleanliness, but I would not return and pay what we paid to be greeted in that way again. Hospitality has a meaning and it was not demonstrated in this hotel.

Great location, hotel is updated and very nice. Staff was helpful and professional. We had a great time.

Great location. Room decore is modern and clean. Comfortable and I imagine adding the ocean view which we did not have would be very nice.

The hotel is in a great location. Walking distance (few blocks) to the pier and promenade. If you go out of Santa Monica, easy and affordable uber ride. Hotel seems to be newly updated. Clean and staff is friendly. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel has an ideal location very close to beach, pier and promenade. Room was comfortable but not too fancy

Starting with the location and the ocean view, this place is great.

A very beatiful hotel. the location is the best, just across the street from santa monica's beaches, parks and few minutes walking from 3th street promenade.

The hotel was in an excellent location, close to everything and right across from the pier. The hotel was clean, comfortable and very nice BUT extremely noisy. Doors and walls weren't well insulated and we could hear EVERY conversation that took place in the hallway. We were awakened multiple times by loud music, yelling and drunk partiers....not the place to stay if you want quiet and relaxing.

The Ocean View Hotel is located right along Santa Monica beach and near the pier and Promenade. The location could not be any better for the money. Also, staff are extremely nice and are very respectful and friendly. I did not give a 5-star rating on its amenities because as far as I am concerned, there aren't many amenities available at this hotel. If you're looking for a hotel with a pool, spa, tennis courts, etc, you should probably look elsewhere. They have on site valet parking for $30 overnight. You can come in and out as you like so that is very nice. I also did not rate them 5 stars for room comfort only because right around midnight, other visitors started yelling and screaming at the atrium, which echoed into my room and was impossible to fall back asleep. This was probably out of their control and not their fault, but it annoyed me so I wanted to comment. The noise stopped after 5 minutes, which felt like 15. But overall, I highly recommed this hotel. I would stay here again on my next trip to Santa Monica!

Great location, beautiful view, good value. Amenities are few.

The only reason to book at this hotel is for the location. It is nothing fancy but totally acceptable and clean. Right on the beach.

Room was very average, but close to the beach and worked fine for my family.

It's right across from the water. Can't beat that.

Great location in Santa Monica (very short walking distance to the Santa Monica pier) and the hotel was really pretty. The lobby was beautiful, the room was great and we really enjoyed our stay here. No complaints!

It was a very expensive hotel for the low comfort. It was being remodeled and there was no true lobby, only one way to get in (that was mostly unsafe - where the cars came in), you had to pay to park (I hate when hotels do that!), and the room SMELLED. It was because it was newly remolded, but the new chemical smell was so strong that my eyes cried. Also, when I used the toilet it was not screwed into the ground - when I reached for the toilet paper I almost fell (lol)! They gave me a new room (with attitude - I don't know what that was about, I was nice about it), however this one smelled, too. Finally, there was horrible construction noise for most of the day (it was summer time so lots of daylight hours). I was underwhelmed.

Great Hotel Manager. Poor desk service. Poor phone answering, concierge service.

First of all, the lies based on the listing: -This is a 2 star hotel. The reasons are listed below. -Listed with Fitness Center or Spa. Instead, there is a gym nearby they will give you a discount for. It is not on property, and it is not included. -Restaurant. There is no restaurant on site. -Room Service. There is no room service on site. Instead, they will give you a listing for a private delivery service to deliver from local chain restaurants... If this is room service, than every hotel in Santa Monica has room service. -Parking is $30, and that price is not listed anywhere on their site or this one. -Barber/Beauty Shop - Again, not on property. In addition to not having half of the amenities they list on their page, the "courtyard view" is a view of the parking lot/back alley; The checkout is 11:00am, not 12:00pm as they list; and all of their hallways are exterior. The rooms themselves are dimly lit and not well cleaned (3 downstairs hairs in the tub were there at our arrival). Additionally, there is no food on property AT ALL other than your minibar offerings. No vending machines, no room service, no restaurant, no water stations...It's $8 M&Ms or you're leaving the hotel. Quite simply, I don't know anyone who would be happy here. No Frills Travelers: If you are looking for a no frills 2-2.5* in a good location, then this would be great, except they seem to charge roughly 200% more than the other 2* locations in the area. Romantic Travelers: Thin walls, and alley views Family Travelers: Thin walls (again), Exterior Hallways, No vending, No food, etc. For the price they charge (I just pulled a random date, and they priced themselves as more than the actual 3 stars AND some 4 stars in the area), you shouldn't stay here. You will be disappointed.

The hotel is in a great location. Room was nice. The night front deck had attitude. The building was being painted outside so we couldn't sit on our deck facing the ocean which we paid for. We had to complain, so they came and removed the film on the windows but couldn't find the deck furniture. When we arrived we didn't have any shampoo etc.

Our stay at the Ocean View apartments was short but sweet. Renovations and painting were still being done while we were there and the compulsory valet service was a slight pain, but the location is enviable; a 5 minute walk to the pier with restaurants and bars within even closer proximity.

We were severely disappointed in this hotel. Upon check in we were hit with a steep per night parking fee that was never mentioned in the reservation process. It's not in the hotel policies and additional billing information. Several parking lots within a block away charge less. Newly remodeled our television was not cabled correctly and did not work. After a 45 min wait someone came to fix it. The cable offerings were not as advertised, there were very few channels, no channel guide capability and no HBO which they touted on the website. They were short staffed and thus multiple trips to the front desk were required because phones not answered. The phone system was not set up and pushing speed dial buttons for customer service inoperable. Only one of the two elevators serviced the 2nd level parking so if we were on the wrong one, we had to switch elevators in the lobby - very inconvenient. This is an amazing location right across from the beach however for the high dollars charged, everything should work.
