Great hotel to end our trip at, located near Santa Marta Airport and across the road from the Beach. Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff upon arrival & swift check in, we were offered iced tea which was very welcomed & refreshing after a 40 minute journey by taxi from our last location. The reception area does look a bit worn & tired but do not let this put you off your stay and the rest of the hotel. Our room was very clean, simplistic but with very stylish decor, large sliding doors onto a large balcony to sunbath with great views of the sunset. They provide two very large blankets which are great to sunbath on. The room had a very reasonable priced mini bar but no snacks. We fancied a massage which were reasonably priced but you had to book at least sat 24 hours in advance. The hotel has a business centre which is free to guests. We ate at the restaurant twice, the staff were very friendly, helpful & full of smiles, the food was freshly cooked to your specification so we didn’t mind the wait, the food was so good and would highly recommend eating there. We ordered 2 cocktails, starters and mains which came to £26- for two, which is very good value.we We were looking forward to having drinks at the rooftop bar (this was one of the reasons we booked this hotel for the views from the bar) and was told it opens at 18.00 however on the night we stayed it didn’t open and no explanation was given which was a little disappointing. We had a great night sleep. Due to our flight departure time we missed breakfast as it didn’t start until 6.30am and we had to leave by 6am however the reception staff did make enquiries for us to have fruit and a drink to take with us which was most helpful. Also reception booked a taxi for us (there’s usually yellow taxi cabs outside the hotel but as it was so early one was booked which arrived in minutes). The airport is 7 minutes away so we arrived feeling refreshed after a very relaxing stay at the Santorini Hotel & Resort. I would definitely stay at one of the 9 Santorini Hotels on the Santa Marta Coast again and would also highly recommend staying there, great service, food & value for money.
This is my first review on trip advisor. The Santorini Hotel was the dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed in. I don’t know when the pictures were taken but they’re completely misleading. The first room we were given smelled like urine. Smelled so bad that we requested a change which they were nice enough to give us. The elevator was out of services the majority of our trip. Breakfast- flies circling the food, rude kitchen staff. Pools- molded around the edges, stairs and ladders rickety (I felt like I was going to fall climbing them). Beach- NOT connected to hotel and there aren’t any chairs or cabanas like the pictures (nothing at all). And there are tons of vendors harassing you asking if you want a massage or to buy something. The grounds- there are a bunch of abandoned buildings with overgrown grass (apocalyptic looking). This hotel is overall so bad. It’s almost comical. The saving grace- you’re in Colombia and should be out exploring.
The hotel is nice if you like big ugly building. There is a rooftop with a view over the ocean which is nice. There is other building blocking the view though. There is not enough place for all of the people of the hotel to breakfast at he same time so can end up having to wait for people to leave before having a table. Food is not very good as well. Cleaning people knock on the door in the morning to do your room very early and insist even if you said no. It is way too expensive for what it is. Santa marta is not a nice city. I wouldn't recommend it.
I want to commend the staff in the restaurants & guards. They get 5 stars, they were very pleasant & accomodating at all times. Tthe rest of this location gets 2 stars from me. I stayed in Villa 1 which is for 9 people. The reservation had been made via Expedia.com at the time of registration, I only registered the 3 people I knew would be staying in the Villa. The rest were family members that would be joining me in Santa Marta, after not seeing them for 22 years. Big reunion plans. The receptionist gave me a hard time for the people that had not been registered ahead of time. Very embarrasing. The Villa's are located 3 blocks away from the main building where the restaurants, bar and reception are located. When we arrived, I was informed there was work being done in the Villa and offered me 2 Jr. Suites instead. Since I was reuniting with my family, we were excited on keeping the villa. We had a baby & other children under the age of 8. Since our villa was not ready, they kept us waiting over 1hr before we got the key. No complimentary services offered during this waiting period. Transportation to the villa was only offered at the time of check-in, otherwise, transportation between the villa and main hotel was not facilitated. It rained the 2 days that I stayed there. The flooding in the streets was bad, sidewalks are mostly broken and not well kept, keeping our feet out of the dirty water was extrely difficult. The wifi in the Villa was no good, we reported the issue and nothing was ever done. During check-out, the reception staff (Isabela) showed no interest or comments about my discomfort or unsatisfactory stay. The beach should be a bit more private (roped off) to keep the local vendors off the property. I got hit by a soccer ball by the locals playing right next to us, regardless of how many times I had requested for them to move away as we had children playing in the sand.
The personal, especially some of the women, are quite arrogant and not friendly at all. We had no warm water in our appartment. They would sent people over to fix it a few time without success, just leaving a mess without cleaning it up. We didn't get a discount when we asked for it. Best look for another hotel!
Originally booked the Boutique but when I saw had to go to hotel for breakfast I called. Diana was very easy to work with amd transferred to main hotel. The staff is great and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was good with a nice selection. Many pools to choose from and you can go to the other smaller hotels for pool etc. Connecting inside so they have supermarket and a nice plaza with restaurants nearby. Beach is in walking distance and can also cut thru their beach restaurant. My gf had massage at the beach from the locals. Constantly selling things but not annoying. Loved the stay here, the large rooms, the staff. The towels actually smelled really good. Rooms are large. Only down side is nothing to do nearby but for beach life it's great. Thank you to the staff for excellent service. Roof pool with bar and food service is great. Family functions like karaoke nights, live music etc makes it family friendly. Restaurant in first floor has big selection.
Santorini has multiple properties in Santa Marta and they are all close to each other. We actually rented a villa (about three block walk from main hotel) and had a good time. Ten of us stayed at the Villa and the rooms were clean and same with bathrooms. Yes, the service is not fast and efficient (by U.S. standards) but you can expect that when you travel to other countries. I would stay there again if I'm traveling with a big group.
After two nights se changed to another hotel. For the price they have poor service And the beach is crowded and noisy. The TV is too small for the size.few options for breakfast. Desapointed place overall
Looks better in the pictures than in person. Staff is cheap! Forgot a towel in the pool and they added a 15 dollar charge after we spend 200 dollars in the pool bar. Not very clean. Pool is small and the staff is rude
Good room with lovely terrace and mountain and sea views, good plumbing, nice rooftop cocktail space with pool. Very quiet when we stayed so the pool was nice and quiet but in busy times, it would be hopeless, only 10 beds, and no shade. However, it's all a bit scruffy around the edges, particularly the reception area, and the food is not great. Breakfast is particularly poor - very little choice, no healthy cereal option, no hot food to order. I think it's supposed to be a 4 star, but it definitely isn't.
