Garretts Desert Inn

A true southwestern treasure is this tidy, quiet inn simply a stones throw away from the heart of the Plaza and Cathedral. Quaint decor, turbo air conditioning and abundant parking for all modes of transportation added to the retro ambience at Garretts Desert Inn. Morning strolls through central Santa Fe became a daily delight. Gorgeous views from the upper deck at sunrise and sunset offered authentic desert flavor. Office staff kindly called me two hours after my check out to offer to send my overlooked iPad that had been left behind. Walking distance from multiple restaurants, historic sites, and Canyon Road art makes this a jewel of a stay!

This hotel is 2 blocks from the plaza in downtown Santa Fe. It is clean and adequate though not luxurious. We enjoy being close to the plaza so we can walk in the winter.

Great staff and a very quiet hotel where you can get a goodnights rest.

We always choose Garrets Desert Inn when we come to town. The staff is always helpful and polite. The rooms are always clean. Its a great place to bring your kids and pups. I left my Sandals in the room and they called me right back to help me ship them back.

Stay was nice, good restaurant especially for breakfast Room was OK, TV awful and we wanted to watch the NCAA semifinal games Something was in the water or in the pipes......a black residue was in the sink after running the water As a result we did not shower

Adam, the front desk clerk was very accommodating. He is a real gem.

I was in this hotel for 3 nights and its a good for what you pay. It is located very close to the main square and close to everything. Don't need a car staying in this hotel. Walking distance to galleries, shops, restaurants and historic places. The rooms have a very good size. Service is friendly.

For the location and price, this hotel was great. Our room had a refrigerator, microwave (quite old) and coffee maker. It was just a few minutes walk from the Plaza and all the happenings' of Santa Fe. The restaurant was clean and friendly and I had the fluffiest omelet ever for breakfast. We went to Santa Fe to see the band The Mavericks play in the Plaza and after ending late, it was a safe and short walk to the hotel.

Right where I needed a hotel for not a lot of money. The pool looked inviting although I did not par-take and airport shuttle service right at the door.

This hotel is 3-4 blocks from Santa Fe's main plaza and all the shops. Don't forget the pastry shop at La Fonda 4 blocks away. However the room was very ordinary, beds new but too hard for me, lots of parking but you pay extra for each day. Only real reason to stay there is location but that is a good reason.

The building and rooms are a little outdated, there were also several stains on the rug in our room that I'm sure a professional cleaning would get rid of. Can't beat the location though, and the attached restaurant is pretty good. They charge $8 a day for parking which I think should be included. Overall the location is probably the best thing this place has going.

The rooms are clean, but dated. They need new flat screen TVs. Front desk was very nice. the location was excellent.

Garrett's Desert Inn is, in fact, a motel, but only in physical description. It is only 2 blocks from the Plaza, so many of the sights and shop are within easy walking distance. If you want to go farther, you can pick up a bus tour within the same area. My room was small but I didn't spend much time in it! I was given a choice of level and chose ground, which worked great because I had easy access to my car. (Just for unloading - I left my car parked for a day and a half and walked everywhere.) I sat outside the room in the evening and it was cool and shady, with bushes blocking the view of cars. The room was very clean and it had everything I needed. For history buffs, it's fun to know that Garrett's is located on "Old Santa Fe Trail." The staff were as friendly and professional as at any higher-priced hotel. I didn't use the outdoor pool but it was beautiful. This place is a gem and I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Santa Fe.

Great location. Hotel is dated but clean. There was an additional $8 parking fee.

A nice inexpensive place to stay right in the middle of Sante Fe

It was awesome, grewat food nice walk to everything all in all a great experiance.

Garret's Inn is really Garret's Motel. Okay, but NOTHING special other than its close proximity to Galleries and the Central Plaza. It will do in a pinch or as a last minuet option. And probably is as advertised, "The best deal in town.". Staff was helpful when not overwhelmed by many guests who behaved as though this was their first trip outta Kanas.

We wanted a reasonable price with a great location - and this hotel was it. Within quick walking distance to the Plaza and Canyon Road galleries. The hotel itself left us dreaming of home - which is never the point of vacation! The bed was too soft with a major dip in the middle. The bedding, while perhaps clean, had seen better days - the blanket had rips, holes, and burns (I think?). Otherwise the room and bathroom were clean, but dated. The shower head was bizarrely low - at 5 ft 2 in, I could barely get underneath it! Parking was an extra $8 per day, which seems to be quite a deal in the area. The staff was friendly and quick to answer questions. If you're looking for the cheapest hotel near the Plaza - this is it. Your room might be bare bones but the location cannot be beat!

It's one of just 2 or 3 bargain-priced places in Santa Fe's downtown. Nice staff, clean room, comfortable.
