The property was well updated, the onsite restaurant was good but the staff really stood out and made the stay excellent (especially the valet staff).

Horrible. Booked a 2 day trip to this place and we checked out after 1 night. It was under renovations, pool/ jacuzzi was closed I asked for balcony and I got a juliet balcony. What is that anyway a door with a rail. I want a balcony. The worst thing of it all is that they are still charging $866 a night with all taxes. That seems like taking advantage of people, because you don't get your monies worth. No R and R by the pool, not good for business. I would like to come back another time when there is no construction and pool with bar is all done, because it is a nice place, when they got there stuff together.

The Canary is the perfect base of operations for Santa Barbara Wine tours and fine dining. It is a lovely hotel, with a great staff!
I really wanted to give this hotel a good review but I honestly can't. Here are the issues I had with my stay: The mini bar wasn't cleaned up from the previous guests. The room they gave us was next to the elevator after we specifically requested a room away from the elevators when booking the room a month earlier. When calling Guest Services, they are not always available and will let the phone ring and ring-- no way to leave a message and no call-backs. Housekeeping left our room before they were done servicing it and never came back. We asked the front desk to have them return and they never did. For a 4-star hotel none of these issues should have occurred. A cleaned room, serviced minibar, simple room requests and being able to reach a hotel employee by phone are basic givens at any hotel- I don't know why I had to chase these things down. However, I will say that the valet/bellmen team were on point, as were the staff at Finch and Fork restaurant.
Great location and experience! If you're looking for a bargain, forget it. This is an upscale hotel with very nice rooms and a roof top bar that is awesome! It's a must see and do!!
Overpriced for what it offers. Staff are lovely but the facilities are run down and outdated.
Short walk to the Public Market which has a great wine bar.
The Canary Hotel was wonderful. My sister and I went to Santa Barbara for our birthday. Everyone was nice. I can't complain about anything. Loved it. Very beautiful rooftop.

We had a great experience at the Canary Hotel. It's tucked away in the historic center of Santa Barbara. We walked everywhere and loved everything about the hotel and the surroundings. Wine every evening from 5:00 till 6:00 in the lovely lobby. Hot coffee every morning from 5:00 am. The restaurant is nice; nice bar area; fantastic staff who could not have been more helpful and attentive. Our room was large and very comfortable and the sheets and bed linens are perfect. It was a spectacular stay. The rooftop was so nice and all very relaxing. Next time (and we are planning to return) we'll stay longer than 2 days. Santa Barbara is beautiful, as is so much of Southern California.
