Park Hotel Calama3.5 out of 5.0

Near to motorway and easy to make stop over on the way to San Pedro de Atacama or back. The room was very comfortable but the windows were not in good condition. Big lobby and car park. Breakfast was above average.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while we toured that region of Chile. It was more affordable and accessible to tourist attractions near Calama, and within driving distance to the east and the south as far as San Pedro de Atacama and further by car. The Chuquicamata copper mine tour is in Calama and worth seeing. There's lots to do. Good restaurants can also be found in town. We enjoyed the room, the pool and the breakfast was very good. The hotel reception spoke English.
I'm not sure why this place is getting poor reviews. We stayed there one night before heading to atacama. The dinner was pretty expensive but tons of food. Breakfast was free and great. The room was nice and clean. The hotel overall was quiet and we slept well. The staff was helpful and of course spoke little English but what else would you expect in a small Chilean town? This place was great for a quick stopover.
Stayed here on our route from San Pedro to Santiago. Women at the counter at the airport said there were no flights with available seats so we had to stay a day. Found this place on hotels.com for a fraction of the price it usually goes for. $71 usd to be exact. Such a bargain considering we're already used to staying in hostels with crappy accommodations. Hot shower, Delicious breakfast buffet was included. The pool was refreshing although dirty with grass trimmings and a little on the green side. Rooms have No AC but the window opens wide and a cool breeze comes through, even after a hot day. The cold water shut off but a quick call to the front counter and it was back up in no time. Only real downside is the 1 plug in the room for charging mobile devices and cameras. Not dangerous at all!! I'm sure the fence around the property is for the protection of the mining workers vehicles. Definitely a mining town, but still a decent pit stop. I recommend for backpackers and businessmen alike.
Had one night here, as an in-between from the airport to San Pedro de Atacama. Staff is indeed Spanish speaking only, but were very understanding with the Spanish I mustered and helpful. Room very clean, only the shower and radiators are very dated. There is no "climate control" and heat is only during the winter months. We had read and asked for a room far far away from the basement disco. They were able to get us a good spot, so that we didn't hear any noise. Pool in the center also has a hot tub. Didn't have any time really to try either out, but looked enticing. All the rooms are interior hall rooms from what I could tell. So we had a bit of a walk, not bad. We only had breakfast, which was generous and good, continental plus eggs. Overall, this is a choice not only for airport travelers but locals too, and is well used. So some freshening is probably due. I would still recommend, but with the caveats.
now I would say maximum a 2.5 star. It's all old and dirty. Staff is unfriendly and don't make any effort. When you ask a question the only thing they say "claro"! Sure it used to be good, but those days are gone.
We spent a night in the Park Hotel before a flight transfer to Santiago connecting to our flight home to Australia. The hotel is tired and needs a revamp. You can see that once it would have been a quality hotel. We ate in the restaurant which we were the only customers of at the time we went. However the food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also good with freshly made eggs of choice. Our biggest gripe is the lack of sleep due to our room being located close to the hotel nightclub playing music that did not stop till 3am. Even earplugs (that we always travel with) did not block out the base in the music. Obviously not happy. As there was very few people staying in the hotel we are sure there would have been a room available away from this horrendous noise. If you book this hotel ask if the room is located near the nightclub. if it is avoid at all costs.
I stayed here before my flight out the next morning. The reception and check-in was great, and they were kind enough to order me a taxi for the next morning. The room was fair. You can't control the heat, but at least they have it, and there was no hairdryer. There were so hairs on top of the bed. The buffet breakfast was very good though.
This hotel is basic and offers basic facilities for its clients. The hotel was clean and tidy and fine for me as I was out all day. It's a hotel Close to the airport and used to businessmen and minors who all o out for the day. Breakfast was nice, all the staff were nice, only spoke Spanish but very friendly. Only problems I found was that the lunch and dinner were limited, a lot of the food had been sat out for a while and had dried out. The rooms need a little upgrade.
We stayed here for one night before an early-morning flight to Santiago. The rooms are spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. We opted for the buffet dinner which was of good quality and reasonable value. As is usual in the region, English is not widely spoken but the staff did their best to understand my terrible Spanish. The hotel is arranged around a pool with plenty of shade and greenery, which makes it feel like an oasis if you've had a long trip through the desert. This hotel is a far more pleasant prospect than your average airport hotel.
