Overpriced for very aged property. Numerous repairs needed, such as dead bolt, hole in the ceiling by light fixture over the bed, water drip from light fixture in bathroom every time room above us ran water. We had coffee pot and coffee but no cups.
Front desk employee is awesome, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. His name is Dave, I give him a round of applause!
General upkeep very poor and the extra price hike to $250/ night just for an event weekend totally not worth it.
I like the pictures and the free breakfast that was advertised. I didn’t like that the pictures made this place look larger and more upscale than it actually was, and there was no free breakfast offered. The room was dark and dingy. Two of the pillows did not have pillow cases and one of them was almost completely yellow from sweat. The shower head was loose and didn’t spray well. The ironing board was broken and it’s pad needed replaced. I stayed two nights and the towels were not replaced nor was anything wiped down by housekeeping, but they did put the dirty pillow back on the bed. Sadly this place was one of the more expensive hotels offered. I will not go back.
DO NOT believe the pictures they have on this site? All lies, very misleading to customers because Most customers use those pictures to decide if they want to book a hotel or not. I refused to stay here because it was horrible and nasty. The building is falling apart and in serious need of repairs. The pool is so small the only thing you can do is stick your feet in. I don't know when the last time this has been inspected. They would not refund my money and they had to nerve to charge a $100 to sleep in this dump I would spend 2 cents to stay here. They need that $100 more than me. If they are registered with the BBB I will be contacting them about how this hotel is misrepresenting themselves with outdated pictures. Also, I will be contacting Wyndham since I am a Wyndham owner and let them know who this place is very misleading to their customers and customers are not able to make the best decision based on pictures that are accurate. I would not recommend this place to anyone. No, I'm not a disgruntled customer. I just know that this place is not fitting for customers to stay even if you are on a budget. This place needs to be close down. Next time, I will secure my reservations so I can cancel if I need too.
The young man at reception is accommodating and nice but the room needs a total remodeling.Not all light fixtures are working.The bed has 3 small pillows,looks like the bedding has not been changed.Not a restful stay.The breakfast is stingy.No milk for the cereal.As early as 8:30 no pancakes.
According to the room rate, I was expecting more comforts. If you don't care the price, you should stay on another location.

Had a perfectly acceptable stay at the Howard Johnson San Marcos. They guy on the desk was friendly and efficient, the room was spacious and had what I needed; it was clean, reasonably comfortable, the shower worked, the TV worked etc. Sure, it was a bit tired - the microwave looked like something from the 1970s - but for the price point, I think it was a good deal.
Arrived Saturday afternoon, greeted promptly at front desk, check in a breeze. Not a fancy hotel, but clean answer comfortable. Definitely would stay again.

The cable wss disconnected and the doors did not lock from the inside and had trouble opening thr door.
The surrounding environment looks like abandoned area. Walking from the parking lot to the room, the ground was filthy with trash. The room smells bad... Poor insulations - you can hear any thing from the room next door.
