The room was great with shared bathrooms that worked out fine. The Keurig did not work properly and the coffee in the reception area was cold at the night and in the morning.

This was a nice little Lower Floor Room, that was initially hard to find as it and another room had a separate entrance from the rest of the building. It was a nice little apartment style of hotel room with Kitchen facilities that came in handy, as many restaurants in the area were not always open when they would have liked to have been, due as we heard, to staffing issues. Luckily we were next door to a grocery store, so we were able to get food there to prepare in our room. The only complaint about this particular room (probably the only room with this feature), was that there was a very small step between the Living Room and Kitchen areas that we kept tripping on as it was so visibly unnoticable. Luckily we didn't have any falls, but this could be a hazard for an older, less agile guest.

The property was very well maintained, clean, and updated with nice furniture, carpet, etc. We felt safe around the property and we were typically gone during the day, so the lack of parking during the day wasn't a big issue. We didn't necessarily care for the shared bathrooms, especially since there wasn't one on the third floor; however they were clean, required a code to enter, and were kept private while in use. The street noise in the morning was very loud - traffic coming off the early ferry and trucks unloading at the grocery store next to the hotel property.

The front desk staff was especially delightful. They were so sweet in answering our questions and making sure everything was perfect. Our room was set up well for us as we were traveling with my parents. It had two bedrooms, a living room, a spacious bath with a jet tub and dual shower head, and a mini kitchen area. Very clean and comfy. It is in walking distance of the ferry, and centrally located downtown, so we never had to pay to get anywhere. They had homemade scones at breakfast and warm cookies for a snack in the afternoon.

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in - extremely expensive for what we got! - and very noisy! - no air conditioning, so we had to deal with stuffy room or noise - and even with windows closed, loud street noise occurred at all hours of night - and bar across street was very noisy until after midnight - they know about this inconvenience as they supply ear plugs, but they didn't help - and bath tub and wash basin were in bedroom - breakfast was very sparse - not what would be expected for price we paid!

The room was cozy and comfortable. Everything was in good condition. I also liked the location. Next time I would want a room on an upper floor, however. It seemed a little awkward for our room door to be close and visible to the receptionist. The scones and granola w/ berries were excellent. Again just a little awkward to eat in the small lobby so close to the receptionist.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you don't bring a car to the island, the location is excellent, being just a short walk from either the ferry dock or the plane dock.

Lovely little spot, in what looks like an old house. Not what we expected but it was great. There were bathrobes and large towels. Breakfast included homemade scones.

Love this place! I’ve stayed three times at Friday’s Harbor- all three times at this hotel. The staff and the breakfast are wonderful. The rooms are cozy and clean. My only suggestion is the Lopez room shower is hard to get in/out of and could benefit from some hand rails.

We like the spaciousness of our room, its decor, and setting. There were some noise from outside of our room early in the morning, which is a little bothersome.

Besides lack of parking during the day it was a great experience. Great service, desk staff was very friendly.

Hi Anonymous, Thank you so much for your visit and your feedback I'm so sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We try so hard to be very clear about who we are and what we have to offer: a historic boutique hotel with renovated rooms in the heart of a bustling coastal town. We have not only detailed room descriptions (yes, not all our rooms have A/C), but also equally detailed floor plans on our website. We love the quirky lay-out (we were the first hotel to offer indoor plumbing on the entire island!) and amazing historic details (like the original tin ceiling), but understand it's not for everyone. I'm so sorry we weren't for you. Next time you visit, maybe check out our sister hotel, the Earthbox Inn & Spa? We have three room styles with A/C there (Sea, Water & Sun Places), plus it's a bit further from the core of town. We so much would love you to experience San Juan Island and be in awe and have fun. We hope we can help with that next time.

Hi there! Thank you so much for your visit and for letting us know about your stay! Our Bird Rock Hotel is actually one of the oldest hotels on San Juan Island. We totally agree, it looks like the super comfy house of your old, rich aunt. We are so happy you liked it. We can't wait for you to come back soon!
