First let me say...that of all the choices in San Jose for this annual convention, I would very likely return to this property next year. If you analyze all the pros and cons of this and other options, I likely would stick with this property. Obviously this is an older hotel. But I'd say the rooms felt clean for sure. Their checkin processes feel a bit old and clunky...but most everything seemed to work out fine. There was only one BIG thing that I think they should change. The staff that checked us in took a photo copy of drivers licence and credit card. This is a very archaic process and for so many security reasons, it was very, very concerning. There is no way they can assure that all staff are honest and that your personal info will be shredded. I'm pretty sure this is a violation of the laws instituted that wouldn't allow CC receipts nor data bases to maintain full visa account numbers.
This practice should be stopped. The only other comment I would make is that it is a little on the noisier side...of which I do not fault the hotel at all (just the area and the age of the building). But the biggest irritant for noise was the squeakiness of the bathroom door in room 217. If the housekeeping staff could keep WD 40 on hand and give a little spray when they hear things start to get squeaky, it would go a long ways especially when there are multiple people sharing the room. those late night and early morning visits to the toilet...awoke everyone in the suite.
