Housekeeping left something to be desired. Courtesy shampoos, etc were not left on one day, an unplugged lamp was not fixed and we had to move a heavy sofa bed/couch and do it ourselves (we are in our 70's!), a clean saucepan was placed in the dishwasher...nothing else in there...and we couldn't find it for a day. There seemed to be no pride in making the room comfortable for us....at $250+ a night this is not acceptable.

Good stay with family and friends. Stayed here for s wedding.

We have stayed at this hotel 2 now and each time is amazing. The only this that sticks to my mind that I did not really like was that the room smelled like curry. When my partner went in to check us in he was informed that there was a long term resident who was staying in that place and had a light smell. When we walked in, it was like a curry bomb hit your nose and even with the windows open and the air fresheners could not take the smell away. But besides that the place, staff was great.

I will stay here again if in the area, the price was very good considering our other option which was to stay in SF. Ok, outside is a bit old looking but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised on the size of the room, mini-apartment size, with full kitchen but small..separate dressing / bathroom area from the bed area. Nice (but small) flat screen TV and small coach. Nice change from the single 4 wall hotel room you typically get at this price range or higher. Bathroom was very clean and shower good water pressure / hot temperature. Parking was close to the room. Price / value was pretty high considering the very nice free breakfast & free wifi. Downside, as mentioned a bit dated looking, it could use some new paint on the outside door frames which look a bit moldy. Location was perfect for us..1/2 between our destinations of San Fran and Half Moon Bay...easy access to the highway and stores.

very comfortable, clean, spacious and friendly staff. I was in town for a conference, one evening, and it was ideal. I asked and received a room that was situated furthest away from the freeway as I like to have windows open at night and a good amount of quiet. If you are EMF sensitive, it would be worth noting that the property is situated in close proximity to high tension power lines. To some that matters while others not so, just thought I'd mention. Whole Foods Market is within 7 to 10 ten minutes away.

We were able to do an early check in. The staff was very helpful with everything. Breakfast area was clean and well stocked. Would recommend this hotel to everyone

This was an airport hotel with shuttle service. When I called upon arrival I was informed that they did not have shuttle service. When I arrived the shuttle bus was sitting in the parking lot. I am not sure if they use it anymore. An airport Hotel requires a shuttle service.

The kitchen and extra space were very helpful for taking care of the baby and eating in while he was a asleep. Staff good about providing a pack'n'play. Breakfast decent.

The Residence Inn in San Mateo is so comfortable and convenient. The rooms are lovely, the staff is so friendly, and it is in a great location. They serve a wonderful breakfast too. I highly recommend it.

Before having a family, I used to stay at 2 star hotels trying get the cheapest hotel for myself. But with a wife and daughter, I pay more attention to reviews and how safe the hotel is. I read several reviews on hotels near San Francisco. I noticed I had to get something 3 stars and above. I chose the Residence Inn. Great quiet spot for the family. It had the amenities we wanted. Free wifi, breakfast, and parking. And an extra that we didn't need but appreciated was the full kitchen. Overall, a very good experience and will go there again.

We stayed for 1 night with our two children. The pull out was perfect for the kids. The kitchen has everything we needed to make dinner. Lots of parking. Staff was extremely friendly. Housekeeper neatly arranged our kids stuff animals on the pull out. A great surprise for the kids, which made our day. Highly recommend.

First time at Residence Inn by Marriott at San Mateo, room super clean, kitchen included, will stay again soon, great price...

I like more than a room. Residence Inn is that and more. Friendly, efficient staff, apt style complex with nothing higher than 2 stories. Quick access to highways 92 and 101. Book far enough in advance excellent rates. Stay here again in a heart beat!

Spacious room . Very useful kitchen. Continent parking in front of house. It is like home.

The location is somewhat confusing to get to if coming from the East Bay. Stayed for 3 nights total during two stays: 2 nights in first stay and 1 night in last stay. Was in building 16 which is furthest from breakfast/exercise room on first stay and building 7 which was closest on second stay. I prefered being closer to avoid cold morning walk to the exercise room. The carpets seemed dated but clean. The layout is such that there's no view of the TV from the bathroom vanity or shower/toilet area. The bathrooms were completely clean with nice sparkly white clean caulking. Breakfast had good selection: waffles with strawberry, nuts and whipped cream for toppings as well as the typical syrup. Also eggs, sausage etc which varied from day to day. Use motion sensors for lights both in rooms and in exercise facility -- got caught off guard in the dark after exercising alone for more than 30 minutes. Not a big deal -- funny actually. Staff was very friendly and helpful at check-in.

The hotel is clean and the location is convenient to downtown San Francisco and near the airport.

it was my first trip to san francisco. the hotel was great, near shopping mall and restaurants. the complimentary breakfast and room with full kitchen was awesome for the price. i wish i have stayed more days. next time i go back, i will stay again in this hotel… love it!!!

For about $100, we had a suite with full kitchen, full hot breakfast each morning and free parking. That is an amazing deal in the bay area, where a tiny hotel room alone can run you twice that much (and 2 days of breakfast and parking are easily $100 on top of the room rate). The negatives: Low-end, not very comfortable bed, and difficult access. Although it was far from luxurious, it was more than adequate and a very good deal.

I loved everything except wet didn't have enough hot water. Our showers had to be 10 minutes and still had to rinse with cold water. The breakfast was great but their staff was rude and stopped serving it 45 minutes before it ended. Very disappointed since our breakfast was included with our booking.

We stayed here for one night before we were going to fly out from San Francisco and the room was great. We didn't get to take advantage of the full kitchen, but it was nice to have all that available. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff at the front desk was nice and we were not too far from the airport, so it was an easy ride there in the morning before our flight.

Thank you for your review! We are reviewing ways to mitigate the odor problem caused by our long term guests. We apologize and appreciate that you stayed despite the odor. We'll continue to work hard and hopefully we'll find a way to eliminate the curry smells.
