Too much noise hard to sleep Not good location for family's
This hotel was awesome for the price and for its location. Read the reviews and had mixed feelings about the area, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't sketchy at all! We were only a 5-10 min walk to union square. Room was very clean and staff was great. I would stay there again!
No air conditioning. If San Francisco is warm, it will be uncomfortable.
Hotel was nice , older than what I had expected but remodeled and clean. Internet was poor and very slow. Staff was friendly and helpful with transportation except rental car. Overall a good place to stay.
The hotel is in a great location and the staffs are friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little outdated in decor. All in all a good experience.
Was a great hotel. Perfect location to go out to Polk Street bars at night. Parking was a little expensive.
We stayed here for a one night stay during our road trip through CA, OR & WA. The hotel was centrally located with kits to do around. On the suggestion of our check in Agent we went to dinner at a place nearby that was pretty good. The hotel looks and feel pretty old and worn out. They do a good job of trying to keep it young with furnishings here and there, but you can tell in the hallways and floors how old it is. Also the noise level is very present, thankfully it seemed to come down when it was time for bed. We had a good stay but would most likely look elsewhere for a better value.
This hotel was very comfortable and in a nice location near to Union Square. The room was spacious and exactly as it is pictured on website. The staff was very pleasant. We selected this hotel due to the price, it was less expensive then the others at the time and it worked out to be great for us. There was a little convenient store and a laundry may just a few doors down which was great! We are very pleased with our stay.
Nice hotel, friendly, perfect location to Union Square. knowledgeable staff recommended very good sushi just down the hill, coffee on the corner (and in the lobby, Would stay here again with out doubt. Enjoy
The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. They even gave us their only wine opener!! The room looked just like the picture including the cool bay window. Close to Union Square and other cool attractions. The only somewhat negative thing I can think of would be that the hotel is in the Tenderloin area which is known for the crazies. Its far enough removed from the "bad area" so it was fine, we felt safe walking etc. I would stay there again for sure.
location was amazing right in the center of everything, few blocks away from the electric car, buses service, bart station, china town, Japanese town, and pier 39. The service was very friendly and helpful. we will definitely go back
The hotel is located at nice place - walkable distance from union square, china town and piers. The room was also clean and comfortable. But the price for this much of niceness was a little higher than I expected. Tight room size and over $40 valet fee gives less rating it deserves.
The hotel was only good for the following things, sleep, shower, change of clothes. The staff was awesome. They helped in every possible way. However, the bad. Being an older building, you could hear everything in the rooms around you. The TV was horrible. The first 2 days, we had maybe 10 channels. The last night we were there, we had none. The staff apologized, but there was nothing that could be done till Monday, (this was Saturday night). Being that we had a 6am flight the following morning, we wanted to stay in and rest up, instead of going out on the town. The previous couple of nights it didn't matter, as we were out late, and came in to shower and sleep. Overall, this hotel met our needs. It was clean, the staff was awesome, and we slept very well once the noise calmed down.
I like this neighborhood boutique hotel. It is comfy. Bed and room were spacious and quiet. Walking distance from pretty cool restaurants and bar/lounges, yet located far enough north as to avoid the ever growing homeless population of the Tenderloin area.
Hotel Vertigo is a more affordable hotel in SF, and you essentially get what you pay for. It was not bad, it wasn't great...for under $100 a night, I'll take it. The Pros: good location that is in the center of the city, but not TOO near the craziness that is Union Square...an updated, fun lobby with pops of orange and white ceramic animals...convenient valet parking for $35 a night (we found this to be worth the extra cost [over finding a public garage] since we just called the front desk and had our car right outside the door within 15-20 minutes#...it was relatively quiet! I heard our neighbors close their door loudly a few times, but otherwise nothing...magazines and SF Chronicle in the lobby The Cons: bed and pillows weren't super comfortable....most TV channels didn't work #not that I was in SF to watch TV, but still)...the staff at the front desk never really made an effort, one was ALWAYS on the phone and wouldn't even pause to say "hi" when we were returning. Overall, Hotel Vertigo was a perfect place to stay in the city, strictly because we were in our room strictly to get ready and to sleep. I would recommend it to people for that use!
Simple boutique hotel with nice decor. Very friendly and professional staff. Valet parking. Great shower.
From the moment, we arrived at the hotel. We experienced great staff who were very friendly and attentive. Sean at the front desk checked us in efficiently. He made our visitors from The Netherlands feel comfortable and at home when he mentioned the change to the orange decor in the lobby, etc. Rooms /bathroom were clean. Perfectly located 4 blocks from Union SQ
Location far enough from and close enough to shopping
Such a cool hotel, from outside to inside with its stylish orange and white. Antiques are not my thing, so this hotel is a great fit: art deco, modern, cool. Staff was extremely hospitable, and room, lobby, sidewalk impeccably clean. The one very small issue is its temperature control--no ventilation, then a bit tough to regulate the temperature, so it tended to be a bit too warm if we were moving around much. I will definitely return to Hotel Vertigo, without hesitation!
Cute hotel, funky decor. The beds were nothing to write home about. Great location and staff was very friendly.
