Stayed here two nights on business. After the first night I discovered the air conditioner was leaking leaving the floor soaked! I requested a room change and was told they were about full but they would see what they could do. To my delight when I returned for the second night they gave me a new room and apologized for the inconvenience. Staff were all friendly and helpful!
Stayed here this week for 3 nights and must say it was a very decent option , right near the SFO Intln airport (just 20 mins drive). It was somewhat difficult to find when you are navigating to this place Its best if you have your own car, there is enough parking in there Staff in check in are very courteous and helpful They have a nice laundry if you want to get yours done - i did that before the trip back home Decent breakfast , lot of good options, getting seats during peak breakfast time could be a challenge The price is very reasonable compared to many others And being a Marriot Elite Gold gets you good privilege as well The rooms and bed were nice, the bath could have been slightly bigger, but its fine. Overall great value of money
We have stayed in this hotel numerous times over the last 4-5 years while travelling to soccer tournaments in the Bay area. The hotel has always been clean, and the breakfast is great. I would highly recommend staying here.
The pro's: Clean. Close to Highway 101. The con's: Close to Highway 101 - you'll hear noise all night long. When I ask for a "quiet room" I anticipate being as far away from a busy highway as possible-and on the top floor. Typical of many Marriott's they just put you wherever. Sad. At least I got the clerk to switch me to the top floor. When he said I'd face the museum I didn't know with the window open I'd hear the horrific noise of 101. I could close the window, but the AC was too cold-even on low. So another sleepless night..Rooms are small, TV's are small, breakfast room is small. Speaking of breakfast-go next door to Burger King. Tired, microwaved turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, white bread for toast...really pathetic. As a Marriott's reward member I hate to be so negative-if you want someplace nice-do go elsewhere.
I was pretty pleased, check in was nice and fast, room while smallish was nice and cleaner than most hotels, skipped breakfast but would have prolly been good. ample free parking, couldn't hear freeway noise inside room. BK next door had good service but closed early. Can't find anything wrong to say about. The area is overpriced but this is a solid choice in sf area especially if you choose to rent a car as hotels inside the city of san fran charge lots to park which is why I picked here. If I remember right, shower head was high which is a huge plus for me, loved it. Hotel is either new or well maintained.
The rooms were basic which was fine as we were visiting SF. The rooms were clean, shower was good. There was a small shopping center about a mile away that had an italian restaurant, bagel shop, and sandwich shop. Breakfast was included each day and was fine. They had fresh fruit each day, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, scrambled eggs. Very easy to get on 101 and get straight into the city. I would recommend this property.
This doesn't seem like the usual Marriott property in this class. The rooms are super cramped and marginally maintained, the dining room is too small with people shoulder to shoulder waiting for the toasters to pop up bagels and English muffins, the fitness room is dinky with no weights and a stationary bike with broken handles. Everything in this hotel is run extra-cheap, right down to no single serve coffee creamers... heaven forbid you might grab a couple for your room. Plus I just killed an ant that was crawling on my husband while he was lying in bed. And, oh yeah, the pool (in June) is completely empty of water while being 'maintained.' Major ugh all around.
We are very experienced travellers and have stayed in some of the nicest hotels in the world, and some dumps too. This property does not, in our experience, deserve the bad rap we've seen on some of the reviews here and on other sites. If you are expecting a Four Seasons or a JW, you'll be disappointed... although I'd also say you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer too. As far as hotels in the class and especially in this geographical location, this was great for us. Now to the facts: The location was great for us because it was close to the highway and the destinations in San Mateo and nearby, where we needed to be each day. It is a little off the beaten path, but very accessible. No highway noise. It is located right next door to a small airport - seriously you could hit it with a rock from your room. However, the small planes or helicopters are barely a distraction. We found the hotel staff very friendly, helpful, proactive and professional. There was a power outage in the area one afternoon, but the staff was all over it and helping guests wherever and however they could. The breakfast each morning offers a decent selection of hot and cold foods, and the coffee is very good. Each late afternoon and early evening, the front desk bakes up some fresh cookies. And, there is always cold, infused water at the front desk. Checkin and checkout were quick and easy. Our room was clean and adequately supplied. The layout of the bathroom with the sink outside the bathroom is perfect for more than one person. the shower was clean, hot and reliable. The beds were comfortable and clean. The airconditioning unit was noisy, but you can't expect any better from a window unit. There is a Burger King next door, as well as a very good restaurant called Izzy's. Both literally share the same parking lot as the hotel. I would recommend this Fairfield to anyone on business or pleasure. The pool was closed for repairs during our stay, so I can't comment on that. Frankly, we didn't have a single complaint and we stayed for 3 nights
I've stayed here many times. The staff have always been friendly and the rooms have always been comfortable. There's nothing especially charming or romantic about the venue, but you wouldn't expect that from a budget hotel, right? The hotel is adjacent to a small, private airport so sometimes there's a little bit of noise, but mostly during daylight hours. I've never been bothered by road noise from the 101 which is also nearby. They serve a hot breakfast in the morning that includes eggs, waffles, fruit, etc. with coffee and juice.
Perfect hotel for one night before going to the airport. Beds were not as comfortable as regular Marriott ones but they were fine. Sinks are outside the bathroom which was a bit strange. Friendly staff. Easy to get to and very convenient for the airport. The biggest drawbacks were that on one side of the hotel was the highway and the other side was the San Carlos airport which both were pretty loud.
