We have been to the Grand Del Mar on two previous occasions (prior to it becoming a Fairmont property) and experienced EXCELLENT SERVICE, AMENITIES AND CLEANLINESS. We were disappointed with the lack of service this time. We sat in the bar twice and the staff was congregating in the back room instead of waiting on guests. Their livelihood includes tips, so we were surprised at their lack of attention. The guest bathroom did not have lotion. The lobby carpet had significant carpet stains. The upholstery on at least one chair in the bar was torn. The valet and front desk staff were great. Thanks for listening.
