Smallish, dark room in an otherwise attractive hotel.

Most everything about our stay was great. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The Sophia Hotel was a wise pick. Conveniently located to navigate San Diego without a car. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Only flor is the hotel parking for guest at $36 a day is very expensive!

After taking a shower in my room shortly after arrival, discovered the drain was clogged. Immediately after contacting the front desk, maintenance showed up and attempted to unclog the drain, when they couldn't we received a complimentary room upgrade. Weekend disaster averted!

Had to stay here for a work merting. Was great and easy to get around the area.

Hotel staff were excellent. Room was small and had no view out the window but a brick wall but it was enough space for one person. Walking distance to almost everything and never had to use my car. Coffee bean is next door and a good French restaurant is connected to the hotel lobby.

We had an excellent experience at the Sofia hotel. We ended up staying agin for a second night at the end of our vacation, because we had a great experience the first night earlier in the week. The staff was excellent, from the check in process to the bellhop. For the quality of the hotel, the price is very reasonable. The room was very clean and quiet. The hotel is in a great location for walking to many different restaurants, bars and the downtown waterfront. Each time we left for food we were given great recommendations by the front desk staff. They even let us check out a little late so we could try a brunch spot that was a farther walk. I would definitely stay here again if visiting downtown San Diego and would recommend to anyone else looking for a classy, yet affordable hotel.

Room too small, too much additional charges, valet and self parking too expensive.

The hotel was okay for us. We only stayed the one night, in town for a wedding. The biggest problem we had was the size of the room. We were three adults and the room was very small. It would have been tight for two of us, but three adults getting ready for an event was difficult at best.

Wonderful staff! Great location. The room is too small.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I assumed from the description and the price that our room would be very very tiny and uncomfortable. It was not. It was bigger than I expected and we were very comfortable during our stay. My only issues were that there was not much lighting in the room. So the room was rather dark even with all the lights on. Also, there was no bathtub, just a stand up shower. I would have liked to have a bathtub to soak in.

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Horton Plaza is within walking distance. Not too many places to eat. Parking daily rate is lower than other hotels.

This was my second time staying at this hotel great location and great price for a cute room. Friendly staff. My only suggestion is for the in room coffee. Would be nice to have better quality coffee and calorie free sweetener and creamer(not powder).

$36 a night for valet parking. Excellent staff, beautiful lobby. Room was kind of small and bathroom set up was a bit awkward

Small rooms in this historic hotel but brilliant design and detailing. Loved it.

I needed to attend a court hearing at the san diego superior court. our offices are in los angeles and did not wish to risk the "traffic" situation in getting to court on time. so, I booked for a one night stay. the front desk clerk was kind and courtesy and extended a late check out for us since our hearing lasted until noon. We were given a 1 pm check out which was much appreciated. We were also allowed to leave our vehicle for hours after check out to accommodate a lunch date after the hearing. all good...

The staff was very helpful at check in. The cleaning staff were dressed in classic cleaning attire for the historic hotel! A plus.

I didn't know what to expect when I booked the room online. I was interested in a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of my 2 day business training. I was very pleased with the hotel and would stay there again.

This was a nice place to stay for a weekend away in San Diego. It's within walking distance of several restaurants and the bay. It doesn't have a lot of extras, no breakfast, and the valet parking was very expensive; however, it had a very pleasant staff. Clearly, one is paying for its great location.
