Walls felt paper thin. Especially when they were playing their nightly movie. I'm sure it was great and loud for the the crowd at the bar but for the couple in the room that had been on a plane most of the day, it just kept us up. If you need Ice, water, soda etc. you have to go to the bar and ask them for it. This is a hotel for people to stop by and have a drink or eat but not to sleep. The noise level ran high until midnight and construction started at 7am.For the price you can get a room closer to the water and a room you can move around in.

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the Pearl hotel. Close to Shelter Island and within walking distance to restaurants, bars and the bay. The hotel bar/restaurant had amazing food and drinks if you don't feel like walking. My only complaint was the traffic noise in our room. It was really loud in the morning, making it hard to sleep in but with so much to do that wasn't a problem.

This is a cool spot. Staff is super friendly and while the rooms are small and not very sound-proof, the style and aesthetic of the place made up the difference. Within walking distance of most anything you'd need and otherwise situated well as a takeoff spot to do anything else you'd want in the city and beach areas.

I went to SDCC and picked this hotel because it was far away from all the noise of downtown. I resonated with the aesthetics of the place and I've always wanted to stay here and see what it was like. Overall I had a good experience however there were little quirks that stood out to me. My key cards weren't functional after the first day so I had to get them reactivated (I've had this issue at several hotels so it's not just The Pearl). They wanted me to pay for parking, which to be fair wasn't a lot of money, but the rooms weren't cheap either. Plus street parking is free so why bother? There were no bedside outlets. There wasn't a door to the shower so the whole bathroom floor would get wet. The AC unit is such a stark contrast to the rest of the room's aesthetics which is a shame (although in a SD heat wave who really cares). There wasn't a mini fridge. But all of these minor inconveniences aside, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. This definitely get points for aesthetics, just know that you're giving up on certain conveniences.

Hotel is older, but has been renovated. Rooms are clean and spacious. The shower heads are too low if your over 5 foot and if you want hot water, its not much pressure. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

What a fantastic experience! We wanted to find a fun spot for our 15th anniversary and The Pearl was it! The room was fun, comfortable and the bathroom amenities were wonderful. We checked in, had already reserved a parking place (which I would strongly recommend) and were able to get a table out by the pool for our dinner. The food and wine were excellent quality and a good value. There were a few parties going on around the hotel, but they seemed to quiet down right around 11 or 12. All in all, a wonderful experience. So much so that we booked another night next month for their Dive-In Theatre.

You need to understand what kind of place this is. It's got a fun vibe to it. You need to be able to appreciate the design sense that's everywhere. If you can get into that this is a cool place to stay. Room is a bit snug--who cares? Built ins are modern and efficient. It's clean, staff is friendly. We did happy hour and small plates at the restaurant out by the pool and had a blast.

Was such a delight. My boyfriend and I will definitely stay there again

This was a special $99 a night. Opened door to room stepped in and almost ran into the wall on the other side of room. These rooms were small. Giant TV on wall. Only trouble was we were about 5 feet from screen.ambience was their theme, I get it, but you went a bit overboard.

This is a really nice hotel. There are some restaurants nearby. It's takes 10 minutes drive to the bench. You can find a golden fish in the room. It's really interesting.

Great room very stylish. Super nice staff. Parking is a bit hard. Food is great. Pool and bar area are fun.

We had a great time, dinner and a movie at the pool Wednesday night, its right by the marina, pet fish in the hotel room, the room is very clean and nice, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Be prepared to pay $10 for parking and don't make the mistake i did and ask for a room with a patio/balcony! Pretty sure we got the only room without one when we went and thats my only complaint.

Very unique hotel. Noisy on a Friday night due to the crowded restaurant on the premises. Lobby and pool were inaccessible due to the crowds in the restaurant. Noise went on until at least midnight. Other than that and the lack of parking we were ok with our stay

We had great experience staying here staff is super nice and attentive. It's a perfect place for young couple-they have wonderful restaurant inside hotel we loved everything about this place

Exceedingly warm and accommodating staff. Clean and modern room. Funky unpretentious vibe. Considering its affordability, this is my first choice when traveling to SD.

I loved this hotel! I visit San Diego regularly and will definitely check for availablity at the Pearl first before booking any other hotels. Incredibly cute decor, friendly staff and great food and drinks downstairs.

The Pearl has a great beach hotel vibe, nothing fancy but a lot if fun. The staff isn't particularly friendly but they get the job done.

When I arrived the staff Greeted me at the door and checked me in with smiles and where very polite. However, my room didn't look like the pictures and I was really shocked. Because the pictures are gorgeous and that's the main reason I picked the room. Anywho, the comfort and cleaniness of the room helped me forget how it didn't look how I expected. You also have to pay for parking, I didn't like that because you pay $10 a night you stay and sometimes not even get a parking spot, so basically you waste $10. I also wish they put microwaves and refrigerators in the rooms it would be a great help. Lastly the I've machine was no where to be found. Other than this little things I had a great time & house keeping was very nice and made sure the room(s) are clean in a timily fashion. I recommend this hotel as a plan B -- look else where first.

I booked The Pearl for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. They were so sweet and took great care of us during our stay. We had some friends meet us for dinner in the restaurant and we all agreed it was one of the best meals we've ever had!

We spent the past weekend at The Pearl and couldn't have picked a more fun place to celebrate my birthday. The staff is so kind and personable, the premises hip but not pretentious, the food and drinks out of this world and the location perfect.
