We stayed for our Honeymoon, the room and decor was excellent. The location was perfect, and the Staff was amazing. We would definitely stay there again.

Great place, would stay here again, and recommend to my friends

Loved it. Staff was fantastic. Loved the old furniture and the overall vibe of the place. The whiskey bar was great. Good times!

The hotel was an older style place that we looked forward to staying in. Even the elevator had an interesting window to a couple rooms. Thought that was cool. Got into the room and it appeared nice. Fireplace, balcony, and comfortable bed. Really liked the main room. Unfortunately neighbors could be heard talking lightly. The shower drain did not keep up at all and you ended up filling the tub with water while showering. Friends stayed next door, they had same problem with shower drain but theirs was worse. The last day they had trouble turning on the water and once on could not turn off. Maintenace guy worked hard to beat the tub from over flowing. Other friends moved rooms twice. once because of the smell, the second time because the toilet came back up in the tub. Would be a great place if an investment was put into it to do needed repairs.

We chose this hotel because of its location. It is in the Gaslamp District and Seaport Village. The hotel is old, but still charming.

the hotel is a historical construction. it looks great. the location is great.

Positive points: -great location -interesting hotel in terms of architecture -friendly staff -loved having a balcony -very nice oatmeal soap Negative aspects/ aspects to be improved: -They had wedding parties right under my room and they are VERY loud with the music. They go until 10:30 even though the staff says it finishes at 10. Then the drunk wedding party yells and runs in the hallways until 2am. I would definitely ask if a wedding takes place prior to staying there!! Not good if you come from a different time zone. I was surprised that they did not offer reimbursement/ good discounts for these loud nights! - Small room/ cannot open the windows. You have a balcony door but no screen to keeps insects out - the staff is a bit cheap with soap, coffee, tea. We had to ask for these instead of getting them automatically.

Very nice setting that added to the ex[erience. Thestafff gave us a warm welcome and had advice for our visit in area around the hotel. Wonderful experience that all who visit San Diego should experience. Nicely close to the Gaslamp district which is a wonderful place to visit. Don’t mis this wonderful hotel.

The Horton is such a cute hotel with lots of old SD charm. It’s in a convenient location in the Gaslamp district. Easy walking to restaurants and the marina area. Parking is only valet and expensive but we didn’t need a car and just used taxis or uber. Our room was a little tight for 2 adults and a child but was clean and beds were comfy.

It was a nice stay, the staff seem to want to be there and was very helpful. I wish I had time to dine at their restaurant. It was a pleasant experience and I would recommend this place to anyone who wish to stay at a Victorian themed hotel with a rich historical background.

We stayed the Saturday before Halloween. It was a party in the streets. There was a party at the hotel but it was over time by 10:30. The hotel is a block from the party street with all the great restaurants so the all night party could not be heard. Some of the restaurants were very crowded but we found a great Italian restaurant and got right in. Our room was very spacious and the price very reasonable. We would definitely stay again.

This place has a lot of charm, the room was clean and the balcony to the center patio was super cute. You can walk to plenty of restaurants and nightlife plus they had live music at the bar that was very enjoyable. They charge $42 for valet parking but there’s a parking lot a block and a half away where it’s only $25 per 24hrs. Planning to come back soon.

No hotel parking... offered valet for $45 a day. Lot parking just two blocks away $15 for 12 hours or on street pay parking. Otherwise... very nice place to stay.

Was just on a quick business visit, but the Horton Grand is perfect. On site bar/restaurant, fireplace in room, and a comfortable bed is all I need. Lack of closet space can be an issue if your clothes don't fit in an armoire. Plenty of drawer space though. There is a fridge in the room for leftovers/bev's and the location is an easy walk to the convention center or Petco or the Broadway business corridor.

I found the reception staff to be, not rude, but rather distant and definitely unhelpful when we asked for restaurant recommendations or directions. Also, my sister’s room, oddly, was never cleaned properly. Trash not emptied, sink not cleaned, definitely lacking a little care and oversight. My room was lovely, comfortable and thoroughly cleaned every day! And a good location for the Gaslamp District,

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Horton. You can tell it is a historic place that has been renovated nicely but it still has a certain musty smell about it. We had a disappointing meal at Salt & Whiskey (the restaurant inside the hotel) but it was San Diego restaurant week and they did not seem able to keep up with the volume of patrons they received the night we ate there. It is in a very good location though and there are a wide variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance which was great!

The only complaint that I have is the toilets are too low to the floor. Although the vintage style was very charming. a HIP height Toilet would be much more practical and better well served to patrons.

I had called for a possible early check in & the person at the other end was unfriendly. When we arrived there was no valet staff around & when we finally track the guy down & told him we're going to be checking in & gave him our car key, he asked if we're sure we wanted to valet cuz it's $42, very rude since there's no available parking elsewhere! The receptionist was not welcoming & didn't warn us that there's a wedding scheduled for that night when gave us a room facing the courtyard so we heard loud music playing all night until 10pm, after which the noise from the lounge downstairs as well as from our neighbor room since the walls are thin. It was not a pleasant stay since we barely got any sleep. We will not be considering this hotel again!

Don't go when they have a wedding Very noisy in my room was directly over our wedding. I informed the front desk but they said that was the only room they had. It was so loud you could not hear the television so we were forced to go out and walk around town until about 11 PM. When we return the wedding guests we're leaving

The Horton Grand Hotel is located right in the Gaslamp District very accessible to all the bars, restaurants and clubs. Staff was very helpful and the accommodation was great. Great beddings, spacious room and lots of closet space. The shower head is a bit weak but the bathroom is pretty modern and very clean. Great stay in this hotel.
