Was just on a quick business visit, but the Horton Grand is perfect. On site bar/restaurant, fireplace in room, and a comfortable bed is all I need. Lack of closet space can be an issue if your clothes don't fit in an armoire. Plenty of drawer space though. There is a fridge in the room for leftovers/bev's and the location is an easy walk to the convention center or Petco or the Broadway business corridor.

I found the reception staff to be, not rude, but rather distant and definitely unhelpful when we asked for restaurant recommendations or directions. Also, my sister’s room, oddly, was never cleaned properly. Trash not emptied, sink not cleaned, definitely lacking a little care and oversight. My room was lovely, comfortable and thoroughly cleaned every day! And a good location for the Gaslamp District,

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Horton. You can tell it is a historic place that has been renovated nicely but it still has a certain musty smell about it. We had a disappointing meal at Salt & Whiskey (the restaurant inside the hotel) but it was San Diego restaurant week and they did not seem able to keep up with the volume of patrons they received the night we ate there. It is in a very good location though and there are a wide variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance which was great!

The only complaint that I have is the toilets are too low to the floor. Although the vintage style was very charming. a HIP height Toilet would be much more practical and better well served to patrons.

I had called for a possible early check in & the person at the other end was unfriendly. When we arrived there was no valet staff around & when we finally track the guy down & told him we're going to be checking in & gave him our car key, he asked if we're sure we wanted to valet cuz it's $42, very rude since there's no available parking elsewhere! The receptionist was not welcoming & didn't warn us that there's a wedding scheduled for that night when gave us a room facing the courtyard so we heard loud music playing all night until 10pm, after which the noise from the lounge downstairs as well as from our neighbor room since the walls are thin. It was not a pleasant stay since we barely got any sleep. We will not be considering this hotel again!

Don't go when they have a wedding Very noisy in my room was directly over our wedding. I informed the front desk but they said that was the only room they had. It was so loud you could not hear the television so we were forced to go out and walk around town until about 11 PM. When we return the wedding guests we're leaving

The Horton Grand Hotel is located right in the Gaslamp District very accessible to all the bars, restaurants and clubs. Staff was very helpful and the accommodation was great. Great beddings, spacious room and lots of closet space. The shower head is a bit weak but the bathroom is pretty modern and very clean. Great stay in this hotel.

Very cute hotel within walking distance from tons of restaurants and bars, perfect location. Easy to access Uber to nearby towns also. The water pressure in the bathroom was so little it's the only reason I knocked a star off it was really hard to wash my hair or even my face in the sink! But other then that great staff, great location, good bed, and room (we stayed with a balcony view of the street, definitely recommend the hotel!

Needed a quick get away to recharge. The hotel and staff were great.

Our stay was very relaxing from the easy check in to the most comfortable bed and pillows. It is the quintessential historic Gaslamp quaint hotel. It's over 100 years old but with modern amenities. I would recommend to stay here for your visit to beautiful San Diego. It is close to everything within walking distance.

The hotel is near the end of the Gaslamp district so it is nice and close to so many great restaurants and bars. It is however a civilized sanctuary from the crazy that goes on in the district. By day there is so much history to explore, and the hotel even has their own tour, though I was not available to go when they held it. Rooms on the garden-view side overlook the beautiful garden courtyard. Mine was on the 4th floor so it looked over the tops of the trees, rather than into the courtyard, but this also allowed for a lovely city-view. A fireplace in the room was a cosy touch. The restaurant here appears to be an overlooked gem, and both the food and the service were excellent. I have not had such a perfect eggs Benedict in a long time.

I loved everything: the employees, the hotel, the room, the breakfast. It was all wonderful. I cannot wait to visit again.

I stayed at this hotel for a recent conference, and was pleased with both the location and overall feel of the hotel. We stayed in a "Grand Room" with a refrigerator and microwave, and the small kitchen area served our needs well. The room was very spacious and the layout worked quite well for us. The writing desk was conveniently shielded from view of the bed by the bathroom, which allowed me to get up hours before my spouse without disturbing them while still being productive. The building was beautiful and was within easy walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center. There is also a 24-hour grocery store named Ralph's (a real grocery store, not just a convenience store) within walking distance. It is an older building, so there were some signs of age with loose power outlets (our power cords would just slide out of most of the outlets very easily), very little soundproofing between floors or in the outside walls, and the shower never fully cutting off the bath faucet when it turned on.

Prepare yourself for a wonderful experience at the Horton Grand Hotel, in the Gas Lamp District of San Diego. This smaller boutique hotel offers unique bedrooms, all decorated in fun decor. Our room had a gas fireplace, coffee maker and Balcony with view of the courtyard. Rooms were very clean, and the king size bed, very Comfy. The bar and restaurant at the Horton Grand Are terrific. Food is prepared well, with nice Presentation. The hotel staff from front desk and beyond go out of their way to please you. We will stay there again.

coming back in summertime and go to Petco walking distance. Walking distance to Seaport Village also Balboa theater went to a concert there

Booked room overlooking courtyard. First night a band played until about 10 PM and party continued later. Second night another function was in the courtyard and since the windows in the room are single pain it was not possible to hear the tv. Went to front desk and clerk was very apologetic and moved us into a larger room far from the noise. Would not recommend courtyard rooms.

Beautiful hotel and room. Loved the historic building and location. The only problem was our room was near the hotel bar and the live music on Friday and Saturday nights was loud in our room.

Convenient for downtown stay. Beautiful indoor patio.

solid place. nice staff. free coffee would have been nice.

Large room. French Quarter feel. Great location. Nice staff. Great way to do Gaslamp
