The Dana on Mission Bay

I'm so mad it took me 15 years to find The Dana. I've been to San Diego too many times to count and have never had a more pleasant visit. We stayed for four nights. For what we wanted to do, which was relax, eat good food, visit friends, sight-see, shop, etc., the location couldn't have been better. Even the guy at the bike rental shack was great. Love his little dog, Ralphy! Every day, housekeeping left a different animal shaped towel sculpture. One of the ladies even took the time to teach my mom how to make an elephant.

Nice pool areas, Great Bar, Very kid friendly, Centrally Located to the beaches (Ocean, Mission, Pacific all within 10 minutes). Buildings could use a bit of refurbishment as the property is aging but it seems as if they are trying to keep up with it. Security was a concern for our family as we had to deal with a person who tried to get into our room on multiple occasions, had a dog in the pool, glass bottles in the pool, etc but was still allowed to stay on the property.

The hotel staff exceeded expectations. Beautiful hotel. Thank you!

We loved the resort area. We are usually ones to go...go...go but with the walking paths around the Harbor, my husband and I were able to take long quiet strolls and just relax!!!

It wasn't worth the money. We have stayed there in the past but will be looking for a different place for next year. Dirty dishes were left outside the rooms for a couple of days even though you'd see housekeeping around. We even spoke to one about picking them up but they just left them. We had no view even though they had said they give us a nice room near the Marina. It was a good location for going different place and nice to walk around the hotel area. That's all I have today but this review apparently wants me to write a novel because it won't like me submit this without writing more. I'm thinking it only wants high marks or it won't let your review get posted.

We enjoyed everything about this hotel. Excellent location, clean rooms and everything was amazing. My only regret was not staying a few extra nights.

Short 5 night stay but what a relaxing and comfortable one It was!

I like the place, great location for getting around SD. Only complaint is the tiki bar by the pool should open earlier.

Beds were very comfortable and room was very clean. Our room had 2 queen size beds that seemed to take up the space of the whole room, very little walking space between the dresser & end of beds and the desk was squeezed between the wall and side of one bed. Bathroom and toilet separated by a door from the vanity area so that felt very small also, other than the size, the decor was tasteful & comfortable. Breakfast was included for two and it was very tasty. Service was excellent. I would recommend it.

EVERYTHING WAS GREAT, BUT THE PILLOWS WERE HORRIBLE.

Enjoyed our stay and breakfast. The staff were all welcoming and the views great. Beds very comfortable.

The hotel was great. The staff was friendly and accommodating even when I requested a room change. The resort is picturesque but a little secluded. All in all I'd recommend a stay here if you are looking for a resort feel.

The Dana Inn is a comfortable hotel - nothing too fancy but clean and well kept up. There is a nice walking path close to the bay and the grounds are well kept and beautiful. There are a couple of nice pools. The front staff was very accommodating.

Very relaxing Nice room Great view Friendly staff

Stayed for our anniversary. It was our third time. Always get good service. It's worth it if you can get a good discount, because the $30 daily resort fee adds up.

Very nice hotel. Close to everything. Great accommodations poolside restaurant, bar with music. Great view of bay.

Resort definitely made you feel like you were in the middle of the tropics. Be aware you will have an added resort fee on top of whatever you pay for your room. You will pay this during check in. Room was pretty cleaned. Seems they rushed through it a bit. I was ok with it seeing they got us checked in at 11:30am, far before check in. The view of the bay was beautiful. Pools were great, very child friendly. We lucked out and had thd last room clear to the far edge of the property so noise wasn't an issue. Walking around in order areas I could clearly see how it could be one though. We will be back, already looking to book the next stay.

Great location! It was ver peaceful and relaxing. The beds were very comfortable, And I would stay again

The hotel staff was great but aside from that the building is old and needs some upgrading. better off paying extra and staying at a more reputable hotel company.

Our room smelled of FRESH PAINT! When I arrived at 2am the last thing I wanted to deal with was "airing out" my room. We had to keep the front door wide open and the back slider to avoid getting a migraine. We had already unpacked and the kids were in the shower...and they show up 15 minutes after my arrival with a key to a different completely across the property! The kids were exhausted and quite frankly so was I. It was easier to stay in a paint filled room than trapse across the property at 2:20am with all of our bags. We then closed the doors at 3am because the kids were scared of the door being open. Fell asleep and woke up st 4am because I was so hot and decided we needed air and the air conditioner wouldn't work!! Couldn't call for maintenance at 4am with the kids asleep! It just completely sucked. One shouldn't pay $200 for a room and encounter these kind of issues.
