Booked a room through Orbitz. The room smelled like paint. Alerted staff and they quickly changed our room to a bayside sweet for a small up charge.

We had an overnight stay at this hotel. There is really no view at the lanai. The body wash liquid provided also had a terrible smell. It might be just the bodywash bottle in our room, but it didn't smell right.

We had a great stay at PP! The grounds were beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful and our bungalow was very nice! It was mentioned the bungalows in the 500s were renovated, which is where we were, so if that's important, put in that request.

I wish I could have stayed longer, with a late check in I did not get to fully enjoy the hotel as much as I would have liked... A perfect staycation as I am a local San Diegan . Lovely grounds lots to see and walk around and enjoy nature. Clean and comfortable . Great Pillows!! I forgot my tooth brush and they delivered one to the room very quickly . The bathroom is a bit outdated but clean. To be fair I do have a main complaint for the price ( Over 200 dollars a night) a couple of bottles of water should be included as a courtesy .. 4 dollars for a bottle of water is downright wrong! Clean water is a need not a luxury and I expect a good hotel to include a few basic things.

While the staff was exceptional the rooms and the grounds were very disappointing. The décor of the rooms were from the 60's era. The chairs outside of the rooms were filthy. The fences around the rooms were in disrepair. The rooms did not have electrical outlets that were convenient to the bed. I had to bring a chair over to the side of the bed to plug in my phone as the table and lamp between the beds had no outlets to use for such. The curtains in the room did not close all the way so I had to use a clip of sorts to make them close for privacy. I saw no security on the grounds. I made 2 phone calls to the front desk tat went unanswered. The lighting around the streets were very minimal which made it uncomfortable walking back to the room after dark. I was in room 102. My business partner, had to deal with holes in the roof and birds in the wall while he slept, and a wasp nest outside his door. He was in room 150.

Excellent hotel room in a hidden oasis. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in San Diego. It was perfect for a romantic retreat or family vacation.

Room was clean and well attended. Phone answered promptly and helpful with questions. Good communication between requests and service. Very friendly staff

One thing I need to learn is when you book through a travel website other then the hotels, you are often treated differently. we had a problem at check in and when they asked how we booked the room and we answered Orbitz, suddenly they acted almost annoyed with us. The attitude was, what do you expect when you book it through a discount website ( not the first time we have noticed that at hotels). Also the staff needs to understand you are on vacation and your schedule might not be the same as theirs. Case in point, if we want to relax in our room on the beach and have a nice cup of coffee while enjoying the beach that might entail us not leaving our room until 10am. Problem is if you are not out of your room early (10am on vacation didn't seem too crazy late) your room will not get cleaned till the following day, even if you call and request it. So we learned that we had to get up and out of the room early every day to accommodate the housekeeping staff . Not a problem while on a business trip but not as much fun when you have a family of four all having to rush to get out early to accommodate housekeeping. Other then that , the food was good the beach was incredible and the rest of the staff was fantastic.

Beautiful hotel, love the fire pits and how green everything was. The only down side to it is the hotel staff is terrible. When I arrived to check in the lady at the front desk didn't show me where my room was or how to get there. There are 3 restaurants which are good but expensive. Everything closes early so bring your own stuff to the fire pits on the beach. The pools are nice and heated. The gift shop was very expensive. The room was great. I loved the private patio out back.

We stayed in an ocean-side bungalow for a week in March/April. It was me, my wife and 2 kids. I can say that the place itself is very cool and had a lot of things for the kids to do. They had bike rentals on property, the beach, a few pools, tennis courts and just a lot of space to explore. The reviews I read leading up to it really did a good job of describing the rooms. They are just dated all around. The bathroom was completely functional, just not something you'd find at a high end resort. The beds were ok, no complaints on that. The rooms themselves were kind of stuffy, no real drawer space anywhere. The rooms will not knock your socks off, but the rest of the resort was great. The restaurants are a bit overpriced but the food was fantastic. The kids really loved the main pool, it's a 0 depth pool which was perfect for my 5 year old. Everything was as I expected it for the most part.

Brought my family here. We rode bikes, swam in pool, paddle boarded, had a bonfire! We absolutely loved our time!

The rooms are so humid your clothes are left damp, the soda machines all say sold out. You ask for something at the coffee stand in the lobby & it's also sold out of everything. They whole hotel is badly distributed, you have to have a bell man escort you to the to your room & back in a golf car which causes you to spend more by tipping them. And everything is extremely over priced. A kids mac & cheese with milk and apples was $27 dollars!!! Outrages, never going there again.

The rooms could use a complete makeover. Bed was uncomfortable and the water temp in the shower was never consistent. Step out the door onto the beach made it all worth the stay though. Homey feel as well and the room was good size.

From the moment I open the door and stepped inside...I knew this would be a very short stay. The room has an old smell to it and there was an outdated couch in the corner that's made of fabric that it so dirty, we had use our bath towels to sit . Although there is a great view of the bay, the windows were dirty and at night we constantly we killing flying bugs. In short the rooms need to be better kept! The internet connection is not very good, causing us to constantly reboot and to re-log on. The cable TV channel selections are poor.

Amenities were great. Bathroom was a little dated. No fridge in room or micro but price was good and food at restaurants was great

Did not like the uncarpeted room. Blanket was rough.

My stay was peaceful and relaxing. Room was spotless. Staff was great. It's always a pleasure to stay here.

I have stayed here while attending a conference at San Diego Convention center. It's quite relaxing and comfortable. Especially, the individual home style was giving me a good impression. I haven't had a chance to enjoy many activities there. But the restaurant was much better than I expected.

Even though I had a confirmed, paid-in-full booking of a room with a king size bed, the staff gave my room away due to checking in at 6pm when check in starts at 4pm. They stated they were fully booked and another customer checking in before me wanted a king size bed. So I was placed in a room with 2 queen sized beds. They asked me if I would be okay with the room change, I stated my displeasure, so they found me a room with a king sized bed the next day. Then, during the third day of my stay, I requested my room be cleaned since I had left the "do not disturb" sign up during the cleaning staff's regular rounds in the morning. Apparently the request was forgotten; also to my displeasure. After these instances, service was quicker and more efficient. But because of these instances, my rating stands as it is.

It was a wonderful, relaxing vacation with wonderful grounds to walk around offering many pool options. The fire pits at night at the one pool was great. Nice places to eat on property as well. Will recommend to friends and family.
