La Jolla Beach Travelodge

The hotel is comfortable and pleasant and is located in a very convenient location if you're looking to spend time by the beach. It is about a 5 minute walk away from the local WindanSea beach. There is a cafe (Cafe Vahik) right next to the hotel and a specialty coffee shop (La Clochette Du Coin) about 2 minutes further down the road. There is also a Starbucks about a 5 minute drive away for Starbucks lovers. This hotel is right between Bird Rock and La Jolla Cove, two popular areas with great restaurants, shops, and plenty of sight-seeing. The hotel is about an 8 minute drive La Jolla Cove and a 5 minute drive to Bird Rock.

This hotel was just a few minutes' walk from the beach! The room was clean and very quiet, and the bed was Very soft! The AC was a little rickety, and the rooms could probably use a little updating, but everything was clean and comfortable and you can't beat the location! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great little sandwich cafe next door and a decent Mexican restaurant right across the street. Once I checked in, I never had to touch my car again until it was time to head home.

But the reception service quality need improvement especially the lady on duty on feb. 25 night, we need boiled water for my baby but she doesn't want to help. And the room is really cold at night with no more blankets

Clean hotel - room was spotless. Maids did an excellent job keeping the room clean during 3 night stay. great location - less than 5 min walk to the water. Short drive to downtown La Jolla. friendly staff- staff was very friendly and provided useful info on recommendations to see/visit while in San Diego/La Jolla

Our family of 4 (with 2 kids) stayed overnight on our way to San Diego. We arrived late at night and left next morning. So we did not experience its closeness to the beach but it is close to many sightseeing spots and mexican food stands. Pros: friendly staff, clean room with everything you need Cons: beds are a bit small (full instead of queen size), small bathroom, no separate breakfast area and you have to bring the food back to the hotel room

The Travelodge was a great place to stay. We are not picky people and enjoyed the simplicity of the hotel. It was clean, had a nice continental breakfast and a nice pool. Parking was difficult because the lot was small but we always had a space. the hotel was very close to Windansea where my husband surfed and was easy access to other parts of La Jolla and San Diego within a short drive. We loved our stay at this Travelodge!

Very good for the price/location. Close to bus stop that takes you downtown. Restaurant nearby are good

The staff is friendly, and very accommodating. Due to a business meeting that ran over, I needed a little extra time to check out & Olga at the front desk was understanding. I definitely recommend this place. Thanks again!

value property will stay again and recommend no Ritz but wonderly budget stay as good as it gets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our group had 5 rooms including 2 family suites. This review focuses on the suites. Excellent location and value for a beach hotel with a 3-5 minute walk to windandsea beach through a cute neighborhood. Friendly staff and maids nice pool and jacuzzi strong morning coffee. One of our suites had a terrible smell coming from the carpet, the front office gave us a bottle of Febreeze. The hotel was sold out and this was our only option. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable (not firm). We booked the suites because we had 6 per room. The fold out beds in both rooms were terrible, the mattress so thin that even the children could feel the springs and metal slats through the mattress. We ended up placing the mattress on the floor. We mentioned this when we checked out and the staff told us that next time we should ask for rollaway beds because they are super comfortable. The information didn't help us at check out and also doesn't justify paying extra for a 'suite' with a fold out bed. We had elderly relatives with us and didn't realize that the only ADA rooms are on the first floor and the suites are upstairs, no elevators.

The hotel was a nice budget location in a fairly expensive town. The front desk was very friendly and offered good recommendations of places to eat and things to do. I had already scoped out a walking tour of La Jolla but they supplemented the walk with some additional routes and sites. That was very much appreciated. The room itself was modest but totally sufficient for our needs it is not like we spent a lot of time in the room except to sleep. But the refrigerator, TV, bathroom and bedding were fine. The breakfast was simple but easily sustained us until lunch. The hotel is just up from the beach and only a short drive into town if you don't want to walk. Though I am not sure when I will visit La Jolla again, but if I get a chance to visit again, I would not hesitate in booking a room here again.

Very excellent location relative to the ocean. Great price for location in La Jolla although slightly far away from the hustle bustle, but it is accessible from this location via car.

The hotel was clean and quiet. Staff was very polite and very professional. Continental breakfast was very well stocked and clean. Wanting to go back as soon as possible.

The Best hotel in La Jolla village for the price and location.

I was very happy and satisfied to see how clean, helpful, and convenient the location was. Well be back for the price and location.

I am writing with my parents who stayed in this hotel. They said they love the location-5 min to the nearest beach and inside a residential area with warm atmosphere. The staffs were very very patient while they talk to my parents, and we really appreciate that. The only problem is that the laundry was too expensive: $5 for washing and drying.

Very nice place, close drive to main la jolla, wish they had a better blanket, got very cold at night and i didnt like using a heater

Rooms were very small and outdated. Lots of daytime noise. Felt like we made bad choice of hotels for the money. Location was good.

Location was good. 1.5 miles south of la jolla town center and a block or two away from the ocean where the surf is good. The hotel is very clean, mattress and box springs both bagged. They clean the carpets on a regular basis. All furniture was reasonably clean. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The breakfast is mostly pastry toast and some fruit-apples and oranges. They have a heated pool which is comfortable to swim in and a jacuzzi. A reasonable place to stay for such an expensive area.

Dear Valued Guest, We appreciate your feedback and are happy to hear that you enjoyed our location. We apologize about the misunderstanding with the receptionist, although our front desk person doesn’t have facilities to boil water. We always have a kettle of hot water in the office for our guests during business hours, also all our rooms have microwaves, coffee and tea pots to boil water right in your own room. We have top of the line Friedrich heaters and air conditioning units in all our rooms if you start to feel a bit chilly at night. If you need more blankets just call the office and we’ll be happy to provide you with extras so you can have a comfortable nights rest. Thank You

Clean hotel, great location and excellent staff is truly a delight and music to our ears. Located only 300 yards to the beach, walking distance to many shops and restaurants, a short drive from all major attractions in San Diego and only a mile from downtown La Jolla, the La Jolla Beach Travelodge is in a wonderful location. We really appreciate you taking the time and writing us this nice review and hope to see you the next time you visit La Jolla!

Thank you for the nice comments about our staff and the cleanliness of our hotel. We are happy to hear that you found our new top of the line Simmons pillow top mattresses comfortable. As for our swimming pool, due to limited space we cannot fit a larger pool in this area. Our swimming pool is still larger than most, which can occupy 16 people and a Jacuzzi that can occupy 8 people comfortably. No need to bring any conditioner, we have it all for you at the front desk free of charge. We have, conditioners, tooth brushes, toothpaste, shavers, shaving cream, body lotion, deodorant, sewing kits, mouthwash, coffee and more. Once again we appreciate you reaching out to us in this review, we hope to see you the next time you’re in beautiful La Jolla!

We appreciate you taking the time and giving us your feedback. The La Jolla Beach Travelodge is conveniently located next to many shops and restaurants and is only a 3 minute walk to the beach. Due to limited space we do not have a separate area for breakfast. We offer bagels, pastries, Danish, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, toast, coffee, orange juice, milk, tea, hot chocolate and more. We do have trays in the office so you can enjoy your breakfast in the fresh morning air at one of our covered patio tables alongside the pool or in the privacy of your room. We have six different room types all with different sized beds and bathrooms. We recommend that you take a look at a few of the rooms on Expedias website before you make your reservation to see which room would fit your needs the best and make your stay more enjoyable. Once again we thank you for this nice review and hope to see you the next time you are visiting La Jolla!

The La Jolla Beach Travelodge is by far the best value in La Jolla. We have 4 outstanding restaurants all less than a 3 minute walk from our property. There is Su Casa which is Mexican Food; Mandarin House which is Chinese Food; La Jolla Tap and Grill which has a variety of gourmet food and beers and Café Vahik located next door which has an excellent breakfast special, coffee, sandwiches and salads. Downtown La Jolla is only a mile north of us which has hundreds of shops and restaurants. When it comes to public transportation, bus line 30 runs every 20 minutes and will take you just about anywhere in San Diego you would like to visit. We appreciate you taking the time and giving us this 5 star review. We hope to see you the next time you stay in La Jolla!
