Kimpton Solamar Hotel

Hotel service was great and the room was amazing. I'd say the only lacking portion of the hotel was the pool area and no jacuzzi :(.

The staff was very courteous and went out of their way to make it a great stay!! Pool bar area is pricey but worth it!!

Very close to gas lamp n convention center Clean n accessible to the whole city experience

The employees are wonderful. The shower had mildew and the shower head made an extremely annoying high pitched squeel when the water was on. The bathroom had no fan which made for a very humid room when someone was showering. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of gaslamp which makes the stay fun. The smoking area was advertised to be on the 4th floor, but they closed that down and we had to stand on the street and smoke, not my preference especially late at night. Overall would most likely stay there again.

Great location! Loved wine hour! Started the day off right

Beautiful room with a big whirlpool tub. City views. Free cocktail hour from 5-6 offering wine and beer. We were disappointed that the rooftop pool/bar was under construction. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay at the Kimpton!

We had such a great time at the Solamar. It's the perfect location to all of the Gaslamp bars and restaurants. They have a happy hour for guests with free drinks and appetizers. All of the staff were wonderful and very accommodating. Definitely staying here next time we are in town.

Nice stay staff was helpful and location was great.

Arrived around 11 pm on a Wed night for a one-night stay. The Gaslamp District was surprisingly busy that night. The staff told me that it was actually a quiet night, and that there are over 100 bars in the area. So if you want nightlife, it's a nice locale. I just wanted a quiet, comfortable room, and it was all that. My only complaint is that parking is $47 per night, and they don't disclose this on the Orbitz listing.

A little noisy since a club is right across the street. Glass on windows are not enough to keep noise out. Also, didn't have a working remote control in the room. They were nice and tried to bring another one, but it also didn't work. We got a working one the next day. I found it a bit annoying, however, that when I mentioned this as we checked out, the person in charge (I think he was a manager!) was dismissive and just said, "but we got it fixed, right?" Yes, they fixed it, but I wanted the remote the night I needed it, not the following one, when I went out to celebrate the 4th of July.

I had a couple night stay at the hotel, and upon check-in I was told my room wasn't ready (at my fault, I was a few hours early) and I ended up checking back in around 6PM. At that time, they informed me that from 10PM-6AM the power would be completely out. I was left a glow stick in my room to conduct any business at night that needed to be done. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, there was just that inconvenience of no electricity for the entire night. The tub faucet was completely dislodged from the wall of the shower and just looked very beat up. The staff was always helpful and pleasant and at the end of the day what matters most in this situation. I would have appreciated more of an attempt of an apology upon my departure and maybe a potential discount offer on my next stay, but instead was greeted with a "resort fee". They realized how little sense a resort fee made when I had to remind them of the lack of electricity in the building for 50% of my stay and removed the fee.

Great location in Gas Lamp quarter. Friendly staff.

Kudos to the hotel staff for being very friendly, courteous and patient on a busy travel weekend. The rooms were clean and problem-free. Housekeeping and room service were spot on. I could not be more happy with the whole experience.

The Hotel is great, the location can´t be better, and the staff was awesome

Clean high end hotel. Very happy with the quality and service. Best pool/outdoor bar area in sd!

The stay was amazing. The people working there we're nice. The room was amazing as expected.

I think we got the worst room in the hotel. On the pool level, the window looked out to a giant water pipe and a very tall wall that shielded the ugly water pipe from view of pool goers. Not worth spending the extra bucks on a nicer hotel.

There is nothing special about this hotel to justify the premium pricing. Stayed there for three nights.

Everyone at the hotel was so accommodating to my parakeet and my little dog. Everything we could have asked for they provided. The Staff was so courteous and could not do enough for us. The service was amazing.

We rarely get a weekend away, so it was important that we found a comfortable room, close to the action. Solamar was super nice with big, clean beds and a chill mood. Location is great and they allow all size pets.

Thanks for the review, Joanie! While I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us, I'm sorry you felt the pool area was lacking. We just finished a complete remodel of the pool and bar area that we're super proud of so it's a bummer to hear. Hopefully you're able to join us again soon. Best, Marissa
