Great location in the Gas Lamp. Near everything. No car needed for us. The bus from the airport dropped us only three blocks away. A short walk to Petco. A little farther to the USS Midway and Little Italy. Super friendly and accommodating staff. AC worked great. We loved the 'industrial' feel of the rooms. Did I mention quiet? Very much so as we were on the top floor. Shower was great with a wand as well as waterfall head. Issues? No top sheet on the bed-only a light duvet. Too hot with it on and too cool with it off. We needed a light top sheet but housekeeping did not understand. Lamps on the night stands would have been nice. Or at least switces for the oveheads. We had to get out of bed to turn off or on the lights. Great hotel at a great price in a great city. We'll be back!

I have stayed at this hotel before and didn't have a good experience, so I decided to give it another try this year, this is def. not a 4 star hotel, no room service, no restraunt, there was hair on the floor in the bathroom, all the shampoo lotion and conditioner contrainers where empty in the room, every time in the room above me walked anywhere u can hear it straight through the celing like someone was going to come through it, it was very loud hotel, not comfortable room at all, very big empty box also the sheets were very wrinkled the money for this hotel is def. not not not not worth it, stay somewhere else

My husband I decided to stay the night here after his military promotion and it was like trying to sleep in a nite club. It was too late to stay any where else so we tried to sleep through all the loud music and room vibrations. We left the next morning exhausted.

Hotel has lots of charm - great for a romantic night - although if looking for a quiet option it may not be the best choice. Conveniently located in center of gaslight and closed Windows block out most of the noise but still quite loud until 3am or so.

Old building - cool from the outside, smells like an attic on the inside, & there is a big style disconnect between the public areas & rooms. Overall not a particularly comfortable hotel, doesn't feel very clean, and certainly was not worth the insane prices they charged over Comic Con weekend (which, to be fair, every hotel in the area does). Hallways: Black walls, red/stained carpeting, red LED-lit railings (what?), and each floor has a random display case dedicated to a different luxury car (again, what?). It's dark, musty, uninviting, creepy & weird. Rooms: I was in a City View Stanza Vista room. Clearly redone somewhat recently, in a style I can only describe as utilitarian spaceship. Floor is painted concrete & there are no rugs. Giant, stainless steel double sink that's so large it's actually hard to reach to watch your face. (I am 5'6", my 6'1" colleague also staying here said the same). Sink basins are weird material that never looks clean. No closets, just a mostly-secured-to-the-wall wardrobe. The only drawers are under the bed. Towels felt like they had been washed 4999 times. There were 2 bathmats, 1 for the shower & 1 by the sink, but housekeeping took 1 away on my last day, probably bc they finally noticed the burn hole (not mine) - but left me washcloths, which I hadn't had the whole time (didn't really notice/care - just weird). Curtain to separate bathroom "area" was too short. Bed was comfy though! Check-out was a pain as they lost track of my CC info

This place was okay. Staff was nice. Hotel is a bit stark and you'll hear music / noise from the bar behind the building until 1 am

Beautiful room and hotel. Very unique. Very modern. Dark during the day when you need extra sleep

We've been at Keating for new year's eve. It's a good hotel, but the staff could have been more proactive: we didn't receive any suggestions for events or restaurant for the new year's eve.

My wife and I really enjoyed this hotel. We wanted a getaway from our normal orange county, CA lifestyle. Well, everything was perfect at The Keating! The bathroom was spotless, and is really modern which was nice. The shower was really cool, but make sure you go with someone who you feel extremely comfortable with because it lacks a door and is a rainfall shower so the fixture comes from the ceiling. The bed was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the penthouse and the bed was to die for. My wife continued to call it the cloud because it was SOO comfortable. The first night we were there the window treatment fell off but because the hotel staff was soon nice they refunded us a nice for free!!!!!! It's in the middle of downtown and EVERYTHING is in walking distance. If you come to SD, you MUST stay here. We will be lifetime customers, no doubt.

perfict location and great hotel, in the heart of gas lamp will recomend

I am a repeat customer to this fine hotel. It is situated in a perfect location and has that nostalga feeling

I got scared when I saw people's review about its noise problem. I got a PH room and it turnt out to be nice and quiet. Super nice staff! Location of hotel is perfect. Only a little problem was the door card becoming insensitive along time. I will book this hotel next time when I visit SD. Make sure you get a PH room.

The Keating is a very trendy boutique hotel in the center of the Gaslamp District so the location is great. The staff is extremely courteous. The hotel is within walking distance to the convention center and tons of restaurants, bars, and lounges. There is a one time charge of $14.50 that includes breakfast in the morning and wifi which is not included in the actual price but well worth it.

From the pictures the hotel looks hip and modern with a lot of character. Upon ariving at the hotel I was disappointed. Besides the location and being in the middle of the Gas Lamp District, the hotel doesn't have much to offer except old rooms that have tried to be designed with a bit of flare but missed the mark. Parking was difficult and expensive so although the room was a decent price, once you add the hotel fees and parking charges, it's not worth the value. I was disapointed and will not be staying here again.

Awesome location even though the parking sucks. Its 30 dollars to park. Very modern hotel.

The rooms here are absolutely fabulous and perfect for a sexy weekend getaway! In room amenities are amazing from the Jacuzzi, rain shower, awesome stereo system, the espresso machine, and the super-comfortable bed! Only drawback I could see some complain about is there is noise from the bars on street level below that can be heard at night, so if you want absolute silence at night this is not your place; but I didnt notice it with the sound system and TV in the room

I stayed for 1 week. I used the hotel for sleeping and a couple hrs work/night in the hotel. It's a very satisfactory experience with some exceptions. The hotel charges about $10/24h for Wifi despite the payment. My room had bare floors, which were cold. The bed was very comfortable. The room is spacious with a "warehouse" and well-decorated contemporary style. Staff was very friendly and cleaning service good. A holiday Sun. night was very noisy outside for several hrs and a Thursday night was somewhat noisy for a couple hrs; it did not bother a heavy sleeper. An additional $3/night "historic tax" was charged to my bill on checkout. The location is excellent for accessing local eateries and the convention center. This hotel is generally as satisfactory as most others except for the exceptions described above.

This hotel is not appropriate for anyone who is interested in actually sleeping at night, and especially is not appropriate for families. The pounding music and the late night parties in the hotel made is nearly impossible to get any sleep at all. That said, if you want a party weekend in San Diego this would be just perfect.

Would stay again at this hotel. The service at Keating was strong
