Hotel La Jolla, Curio Collection by Hilton

My stay was average, our room had stains and there where no convenient parking you are forced to pay the $35 parking fee. The room was very noisy due to the outside traffic. No a very pleasant stay.

This is the 5th time I have stayed at this hotel as it has a true neighborhood feel, but is just a quick walk away from the beach. The exterior and lobby are striking and inviting. The room balconies are comfortable, many with views, and I spend time on them each day of the stay. There is a nice salt water pool and an exercise room as well. The Cusp on the 11th floor has spectacular views of the shore line and ocean.

I was only here for one night on business. I got upgraded to an ocean view room which was very nice.

The only reason my rate wasn't a 5 is due to being right on a main busy road. While they give you ear plugs (more for if you want to sleep with your door open) they are needed even if the door is closed due to needing to upgrade the weather stripping for a better seal on the sliding doors.

The hotel was nice and comfortable. Had great views of the area. The staff were all very nice and welcoming.

The room was a modern retro style and quite uncomfortable! No amenities , not pleased .

Amazing views & location. Excellent place for a low key getaway.

1)Pulling up to valet we were informed of 35 $ a night parking fee.. Outdoor parking right in front .. Not even covered garage .. Valet says only other option is to park on street on main road .. Which was a lie .. The residential streets had plenty of parking .. But we found that out after the fact 2) no smiles while checking in .. No offerings .. no perks or upgrades not even for our anniversary/ birthday stay! Nothing .. Not even a room with slight view of ocean .. We got 35 a night parking lot view.. 3) unsightly bleach stained carpet 4) hot water faucet in bathroom sink wouldn't turn 5) while checking out no one bothered to ask how stay was .. I offered my experience though .. No reaction.. No apology .. Just scribbled notes on a paper

everything is great in this hotel. i would definitely go there again.

This was my first time staying in a Kimpton Hotel and I was delighted with the service and room. The hotel is very stylish with many amenities. I really enjoyed the complimentary shuttle service and the complimentary bikes available to explore La Jolla. Will definitely come again.

Great location for walking to the beach, local services, staff is friendly and fun. Great organic coffee shop just two clocks away, wonderful restaurants, beautiful beach Cleanliness left something to be desired and we experienced some significant malfunctions that made it a little more challenging. They do allow dogs which added some fun factor- we saw them meeting at happy hour and could hear the barking from our room.

booked this hotel last minute and was such a pleasant surprise. the hotel is in a great location in La Jolla, only a 5-7min walk to the beach. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Stayed on the 3rd floor, had water glimpses of the beach, if you stay at a higher floor, 4 or 5 above would have some fantastic view of the beach. there are some fantastic restaurants down the road. the hotel has complimentary bikes you can use as you please. the only negatives are the cost of parking/valet at the hotel of $28+tax per day is very steep, the hotel also doesnt provide free Wi-fi for guests. there is a starbucks next door though if you want to go and use the internet and get a coffee. the hotel offers free morning coffee for all guests and every evening from 5-6 has free wine tasting with nibbles which is a great touch. the hotel has a wonderful bar downstairs and also on the 11th floor called Cusp, which has the best view of La Jolla. There was no kettle or coffee making facilities in the room, though was provided with pitcher of hot water so I could make my own tea. one of the nights, they had a movie night at the bar in the outside bar by the fireplace, which was such a nice way to end the evening. also, when we headed to the beach, we were given a beach pack which was such a nice touch that contained, towels, sunscreen, chapstick, bottles of water, sand bucket. i recommend eating at Cusp restaurant on the top floor for drinks and the food and seeing the sunset. We had such a pleasant stay and would definitely be back!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. First room we were given, was one with no view and lacking most amenities; hair dryer, TV channel list, etc. Plus the room had bugs, including mosquitos. Next day, we requested another room and was given a room with a fantastic view on the 8th floor. However, one of the rooms were experiencing plumbing issues which created some bad smells. It would of been nice to be made aware of this situation, as these things happen. We would of liked to see more offerings for breakfast, besides beverages. One other surprise was the forced valet service, which understood, but would of been nice to have this knowledge before hand. Again, the décor, and especially the staff were all very special. We would stay again, but make sure we have a view room and extra tip money for the Valet!

Hotel La Jolla was a beautiful experience from start to finish. The staff was 5-stars all the way. Every staff member from Check-in to bar to restaurant to vale' was overly friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean with a nice balcony view of the ocean. We definitely recommend this hotel.

top notch, the sheets were super soft frette The flat scren t.v pulls out to any angle . all rooms face the ocean . great decorating in rooms. Everything looks brand new . super Clean

Kimpton did a nice job on the remodel, the staff are engaged and upbeat. The location is right off La Jolla Pkwy. and next to a Starbucks for early breakfast. You can walk to La Jolla Shores in 5 minutes and are roughly 2 miles from the Cove. I recommend, fourth visit to the hotel in 4 months.

Very convenient if you are going to the beach, but the rooms are small, old and noisy. I could hear the television next door, and the walls were thin enough that my TV remote could turn on/off the neighbor's TV. Made for some awkward late night moments

This hotel was already a good location and deal but now changed owner and is very slick and comfortable... highy recommended .

This hotel is just three blocks from the beach for a reasonable price considering the area. Most rooms have a limited view of the ocean from a rather bland balcony. The hotel staff was top notch in terms of helpfulness and courtesy. The maid and valet service was outstanding and cheerful. The room and amenities were average and ho hum despite an attempt at a modern asian motif. Warning: the bed frames are very low and the mattresses will soon need replacement. The complimentary morning joe was quite tasty for this American style coffee lover but expect nothing gratis beyond this. For those requiring espresso based concoctions, a S___bucks is next door along with a convenience store and a S__way. The hotel room service menu looked very pricey for breakfast and dinner. Lunch looked more reasonable. I cannot comment on the quality but the menu selections looked quite trendy and upscale as would be expected for the area. There is no self service laundry area. There was a full-service off-site laundry available at rather high rates. Ice is available but beverage machines are not present. The exercise room was equipped with dumbells, treadmill, low impact machines with a picture window viewing their nicely manicured but average looking grounds. A small heated outdoor pool was handy and private for family or parties with plenty of towels available for guests. The pool temperature was a bit too high for my tastes (like bath water or higher). There was mention of a spa but I had no interest and never saw it. The hotel restaurant, The Grill, was on the top floor. I did not investigate it but it gave the impression of being trendy. Only two extreme negatives: First, the lavatory faucet handles were so modern and smoothly cylindrical as to make them nearly impossible to turn with wet hands. VERY irritating! Second, there is a fifteen dollar per day parking fee. It added a small measure of dissatisfaction at the end of an otherwise very pleasant stay. On the positive: First, there is a complimentary shuttle service, on demand, to take you to the beach, a local restaurant or downtown. Rooms are equipped with a 46" flat screen TV, programmable safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, large closet with verticle shoe shelving, the bathrooms are mostly marble tiles with glass shower enclosure, all kept immaculately clean by the very friendly housekeeping staff. For our family vacation purposes, i.e. sightseeing and beachcombing, we had a very pleasant and comfortable week long stay.

Any short comings this property has is more than made up for by the staff. Especially take advantage of the Valet shuttle suggestions for dinner. We were taken down to the village and was dropped off and picked up with no waiting. I would take my family here again for sure, next time I would definitely book 7th floor and up for the ocean view. Short walk to local eating and markets. Oh the jacuzzi was empty and it didn't look like it was being worked on, property was well groomed but the pool area needs some work.
