Grande Colonial Hotel

My son suffered terrible allergies in our room. Ceiling fans was wobbly, shelf in bathroom loose and unstable. Very small room (could' do yoga, which is usually possible in hotel rooms)

Pretty hotel. Staff moved half heartedly at half speed. Expected more for the price and type of hotel. Valet was on his cellphone standing in an alley when I arrived and kept talking on his phone, didn't greet me. I thought he was just a person and not staff. He watched me pull my car into a parking spot and park then hung up his phone and walked over to tell me that wasn't a spot and I had to move my car. Front desk staff moved halfheartedly at half speed. Pleasant enough but felt like students that hadn't had customer training. Service is what I'd expect at a motel not up to snuff for the price and the place. Guys at the front door and valet seemed much more interested in one another and texting on their phones than greeting customers, opening doors or answering questions.

Front desk personnel does not look up or acknowledge you with out greeting them first. This was observed all 5 days of our stay . Not a welcoming feeling..

Very friendly and accommodating staff! Great location with close proximity to shopping and the coastal walk. Hotel is charming!

Wish we could have spent more time there. Nice hotel within close walking distance of the LaJolla Cove, saw the sea lions there. Right downtown. Lovely.

I loved my stay at this hotel, don't really have any complaints. The hotel is lovely and the staff was excellent. I will definitely be back.

Had a very nice stay at Grande Colonial. The hotel was very nice overall, and the room was too. Valet is expensive and you can save on parking by keeping your car in the street behind the hotel (free all day and night) if you can find a spot to park.

First class experience. Andy in the valet area was most helpful. Staff courteous throughout the property.

We loved that we could walk out the door and be near a stunning ocean broadwalk as well as reasturants and shops The staff was welcoming and the view from our room was wonderful We loved the cozy but professional feeling The bed was very comfortable too We would definitely return

Very peach and enjoyable couple of days. Used the kitchen to our liking and able to walk to whatever we required.

Terrible hotel that asked us to leave, as we had a emotionally needed pet with Physicians papers, We were embarrassed in the lobby which needs remodeling.

I have stayed at this the Grand Colonial 4 times now and each visit surpasses the previous one. This is in my top 5 go to place to stay.

This is a very cute hotel in a perfect location. The hotel and room are very quaint and you can walk very easily to anything around lo jolla.

No refrigerator, No microwave, Very small room for two queen bed, Lots of bugs in pool Good location, Kind staffs

We arrived at 11:00 in the morning and they allowed us to check in since our room was ready- very nice. We loved the hotel and the location, our room was very close to the street and on the first level so not perfect, but for the price and location and amenities, we were very happy.

The room was disappointing, no dresser, & little storage space. The safe did not work, had to call maintenance The TV remote did not work, had to call maintenance. Even with new battery the remote did not work well. we just gave up in the end. No TV The toilet leaked water and flooded the bathroom floor, had to call maintenance. Still leaking when we left. The lightbulb was out, had to call housekeeping

The location was great, right in the middle of La Jolla, walking distance to many places. Our room was average but the location of the room was lousy. We had to walk past the kitchen, dodging waiters. The view out one side was of the garbage area with large garbage containers. Needless to say we didn't open our windows to listen to the ocean. The bellman was the best. Very welcoming and great at making recommendations and taking pictures. I probably would not stay here again. I wondered if we got a bad room because of the discount through our booking site

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to where I needed to travel to for business a few days in a row. La Jolla certainly is a pretty neighborhood, but there's not a whole lot to see or do. The hotel is historic and very pretty but my sleep was affected each night because of hearing noises in the hotel, in particular the hotel door kept rattling and shaking. The first day I was put in a basement-like room with no view and chairs were stacked outside of my door in the hallway (and this room is intended for handicapped individuals). I was moved to a much nicer and more comfortable room the next two nights which made the stay significantly better. The staff is extremely accommodating and the restaurant on-site is fantastic. The pool looked nice but I didn't have time to go in and the weather was surprisingly terrible during my stay.

My husband and I normally stay at La Valencia up the street from the Grand Colonial but saw a great deal on this place and decided to stay here. We were given a complementary upgrade to a partial ocean view. The view was great. The room was large, comfortable and clean. I would stay here again.

My husband and I travel a lot and the Grande Colonial is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at!! Everything is perfection...location, staff, comfort, ammenities!!! You will not be disappointed, this is a must stay!!!! We love the GRANDE COLONIAL and cannot wait to go back!!!

I appreciate very much your extremely comprehensive and detailed review of your recent stay with us. I'm happy you enjoyed our location and accommodations so much but am sorry that the service you received was not up to our very high standards. We strive for excellence at every single touch point and the service you received from a few of our staff members is certainly not indicative of our reputation, nor is it the type of impression with which we want any of our guests to leave. But I do appreciate you bringing it to my attention, as it is only through this kind of constructive feedback that we can continue to improve. While I do realize that you have many choices of where to stay here in the La Jolla Village, I hope you will give us another opportunity to earn back your trust. Sincerely, Terrence Underwood, General Manager

While I am delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your accommodations, I'm very sorry that the service you received did not fare as well. We strive for excellence at every opportunity and clearly the service you received from our front desk team is not representative of our high standards. But I thank you for bringing this to my attention and hope you will give us another opportunity in the future. Sincerely, Terrence Underwood, General Manager
