As the strip hotels were busy due to the SEMA show, we decided to try a Fremont street hotel. The 4 Queens was available. Considering the location, the hotel was competitive and similar to the other hotels. It is an older hotel but the room was clean.

Great location, beautiful hotel in restored historic building, friendly and accommodating staff, sparkling clean.

Stayed 1 night and loved it. The location is right in the corner of 5th and E street right smack in the middle of gaslamp district. everything is walking distance, restaurants, the convention center is around a 15minute walk down 5th avenue. add another 10 minutes to Petco park. The hotel is in an older historic building and that is part of its charm. Check in is a breeze, super friendly staff. the valets are great. There is a $32 valet fee per day which i recommend, kinda steep but parking isnt really cheap there anyway. they park your car in a covered carpark across the street. there is a pay as you go carpark next door, but for overnight i wouldnt recommend it with a lot of transients and bums in that area walking around. The rooms are of a descent size, there is a mini kitchen inside, with all the amenities including plates and utensils. there is a sleeper sofa with my room to so you can really sleep 4 people comfortably. The bed is great! on the firm side which is to my liking and comfy. i just dont understand the frosted glass suite doors. but its all part of the charm i guess. The complimentary wifi was hard to connect to, so i never really got to use it. The bathrooms are ok in size and their amenities like soap and shampoo are ok too. if you are looking for a modern hotel go somewhere else, but if you want to stay at a historic building with lots of charm and friendly staff, i would definitely recommend this place.

This was our second holiday in San Diego, both at this historic hotel. The staff are friendly and worked hard to meet our needs. We felt like we were family- Merry is always so cheerful and welcoming, greeted us warmly when we arrived. The terrace is a lovely place to enjoy breakfast and spend time together as a family! We feel at home even though we are away! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Good location. Rooms very clean. Nice staff. Poor breakfast.

We have been changing hotels in San Diego due to living by the day on our trip. Gaslamp suites was one of them. First it is sooooo convinent for the nightlife of gaslamp, which is the heart of the night seen in San Diego. Second, Rooms were clean, spacious enough with the living room, two full bathrooms was an asset and a kitchenette with the forks and knives and plates made life so easy. Third, it provides breakfast, nothing fancy but enough to start the day. The breakfast is served on the rooftop which has very nice view over the city and part of the bay. I think the hotel needs to freshen up the wooden doors of the rooms and part of the furniture which will add glamour to the place. If i come back again to San Diego on a holiday where I don't need a swimming pool, i will definitely stay again in that hotel.

We absolutely loved this hotel - the room was lovely, there is a patio on the roof with a GORGEOUS view of the city, and you can walk to everything from here (even the water!) It is in a section of town with a very active night life. That is not really my thing, but with night life comes great restaurants so we had lots of options to choose from for food within very easy walking distance, which was awesome. And the night life did not bother me a bit because our room was on the 6th floor so I couldn't hear any of it. The only reason I am giving this hotel a 4 in "hotel facilities" is due to the lack of parking. There is no parking lot at this hotel. There is a municipal lot right next to it, which would have been great if it wasn't so expensive! We paid $70 to park for just 2 days (and those were not 24 hour periods, they were just for hours that accommodated when we were actually at the hotel - so if you're planning on leaving the car for a whole day or two, I hope you've set aside some serious cash.)

Nice location and amenities. Really enjoyed our stay, although it was quick!

Friendly and helpful staff, received free upgrade upon check-in without requesting. Cool bar downstairs with friendly bartenders. rooms are very nice.

This hotel is in an awesome location. You can't go hungry in the area as there are tons of restaurants. If you like the club/bar scene then you can just go downstairs of the hotel. If you are a light sleeper then this hotel may not be for you since you can hear music from the clubs until 1am, but it's tolerable. The hotel is less than a 20 minute walk to the Seaport and about 10 minutes from the airport. We also walked to Balboa Park. The staff is great. I would stay here again.

When we first checked in all seemed well, except that this hotel does not provide any complimentary parking for hotel guests, you end up paying a minimum of $32 per night just for parking. We were only booked for one night and liked the vintage boutique hotel vibe that this place had. We went up to our room to drop off our luggage before heading out to dinner. Our room was at the end of the hall and is we walked out we heard terrible screaming coming from one of the adjacent rooms. As ridiculous as this sounds, the screaming and yelling persisted as if someone was being violently assaulted. We quickly got into the elevator and let the front desk know before heading out to dinner. At this point we were all very uncomfortable staying in the room. Upon returning to the room and checking in with the front desk, we were notified that there was nothing they could do and although we felt extremely uncomfortable staying in our room to the point that we feared for our safety, they would not issue us a refund, partial or otherwise.

Had a Jr. Suite, which was nice. The hotel is in a former bank building constructed in 1913, and the ornate trim and marble remains. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast isn't much, but its served on the rooftop dining area, which is a must-see at night for the spectacular view! If you want quiet, however, make sure to ask for a room that is not facing F(?) Street. Gaslamp is a nightlife district, and while the huge windows make the room look very dramatic, they also don't keep out much noise from people in the street. Maybe a higher floor is different - I was on the 2nd. Fortunately, I'm not a light sleeper or it would have been a problem. Otherwise, I recommend the place and will probably stay there again.

The hotel was nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again, the room was clean and very spacious for what i was looking for.

Very spacious loved having 2 bathrooms in this suite

We did a 'stay'cation there so we could go to a Redlands alumni night at Petco Park one night, then see the Lion King the next. Worked out perfectly.

The room and hotel were great but the traffic is SOOOO loud! We were on the 8th floor, facing the main street, and we could hear EVERYTHING! Otherwise, perfect hotel with a small breakfast with a view...on the rooftop.

Hotel is close to the downtown and ballpark area. Clean rooms just be ready to go to bed later as the noise from the Gaslamp can be loud and go late into the night.

Loved our room. And location was perfect! Staff pleasant and helpful.

Hotel is too old, room is too small, and cold breakfast not attractive

The experience was great! Great helpful and friendly staff. The room was bigger than expected eith a great view of the gaslmap nightlife. Only downside is the old smell that the hotel has. The hotel has obviously gone through many upgrades and construction. The least they could do is improve the ventillation in the hallways. The hallways smell like an old closet that literally hasnt been air'd out in decades. But other than that the hotel is perfect! Especially the free breakfast and romantic rooftop experience :) Great for the price. I would visit again!
