What a great find. First time staying at this hotel. I only gave the comfort of the room a disappointing rating due to the following. Upon checking in, the staff informed me that the air conditioner was being repaired. Later that evening, we were told the problem was fixed, however it would take some time for the higher floors to cool down. We were on a higher floor. After some time the room was still not cool, so we called the front desk and requested a fan. We received the fan within 10 min, which did help some. Unfortunately, this was an unusually humid day, so it took some time for the fan to give some relief. Through this entire process, the staff was fantastic. They were honest about the problem and gave honest updates on the expected repair time. The staff's was so professional. If it wasn't for that, it would have been a perfect review. Beds were very comfortable, microwave and fridge combo was perfect for leftovers. Location was fantastic, close to everything: grocery store, restaurants, shopping, beach, movie theaters, and banks. We are already looking forward to a return visit. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.

Great location. With in walking distance to the beach, great shopping and great restraunts

Professional and very friendly staff. Newly renovated and very clean rooms. Very convenient location- walking distance to La Jolla cove and many good eating places. If looking for a place to stay in La Jolla, I definitely would recommend the Empress Hotel, because my wife and I would stay here again.

I was in the San Diego area for a conference, and decided to use this opportunity for some "R&R" the weekend following with my husband joining me. I did my research and happily made our reservation with the Empress Hotel of La Jolla. This hotel was just lovely in every way possible. My husband & I highly recommend staying here!

Very nice and comfortable. Staff was attentive and friendly.

My husband and I flew out to SD for a wedding and stayed at this hotel. All the front desk staff was very accommodating and helpful. Over all we definitely enjoyed our stay and the Continental breakfast dominated most that we have experienced.

We were in town for a wedding and this was one of the recommended hotels. I am very glad we picked this one. You pretty much have to pay for valet ($28 a night) but it's worth it for the convenient location. The beach and some of our favorite La Jolla restaurants were within walking distance making our stay very stress free. Continental breakfast was okay. They have a waffle maker but the second morning they were out of waffle mix so it was pretty much bagels, muffins, and hard boiled eggs. The sun deck where it's served is beautiful. The room was kept very clean. They brought up a pack n play for my son at no extra charge. My favorite part was the tablets in each room. You could request your car, housekeeping, room service, all without having to call someone. Overall, I would say this is a nice hotel for the price.

Nice hotel, great location. Breakfast could be better. I waited for someone to come give us cutlery for 10 min until I gave up and went to get breakfast outside

The staff was amazing. The hotel is cute inside and is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the beach. Great value. Free street parking is available if you're willing to work for it. Otherwise, there's a public lot across the street.

Very convenient super friendly staff. We would gladly recommend and stay here again without hesitation. Staff was very helpful in every way possible.

We really loved the Empress Hotel! The location was so covenient. We could walk every where for dining, shopping and to the beach. The hotel was clean and the staff very courteous and helpful. We were surprised at how spacious the rooms were and how quiet it was, as well . The front desk staff was outstanding. They helped with restaurant suggestions and made sure we had what we needed. We look forward to returning next year.

Good location and service. There were major construction/renovation going on inside the hotel and disappointed that guest room don't have bathtub.

Great location allows you to explore the La Jolla shoreline as well as the town. Nice size room.

Really comfortable stay at Empress. Great staff, very friendly and personable. Hotel room is average with nothing special but you can't beat the location! It's just 2-3 blocks from the beach and very central to downtown la jolla with lots to do and see. loved it. only annoying part is paying for valet parking...but there aren't many other options around there.

Great service. Pretty close to the ocean. Affordable.

Good place - Great people ! Would stay there anytime I'm in San Diego area

The staff is very nice and they try to do their best to make you feel good. The location is good to go to the beach . Not a lot of bars around and most restaurants close by 11.

The staff is very friendly. The room is both very clean and very comfortable. From cookies and apples at the front desk to maps for getting around town, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel is nice and quiet, so I got two good nights of sleep. I would definitely stay here again.

Things started off badly because the room "promised" two weeks earlier was a deluxe King, but the room actually reserved was a handicapped queen. After a half hour of discussion with the hotel desk and booking agency customer service we settled on taking a standard queen - same price. The hotel insisted that the reservation came thru as a handicapped queen; the booking agency insisted that the hotel was responsible for the change. At 4PM there were no other attractive alternatives, so we settled. Aside from the obvious problem, the room. hotel and staff were fine. We were offered free valet parking (normally $10) as compensation. The front desk staff were very helpful during our stay.

we travel to CA every month for medical reasons, this hotel has a nice location and was very comfortable. I walked down to the beach and around the town. We found great restaurants close by.
