Staff is extremely pleasant & a young lady helped me over the phone & was extraordinarily pleasant & went out of her way to be helpful. We needed a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit but it had to be downstairs & facing the parking lot as we had a handicapped elderly person with us. She kindly assured us the room was ours and would be available after 3 p.m. We checked in at 7:30 pm, & the night clerk was also very pleasant. When we arrived at our room , it had not been cleaned, but she sent over a housekeeper, who was also pleasant & apologetic and started getting our room ready while we waited in the parking lot in our car. We understand things like this happen, but what happened next was absolutely unacceptable: The manager, charged into the situation yelling & screaming at the top of her lungs at the housekeeper while having the clerk on the phone & screaming awful things about her & the clerk we originally spoke to. She then turned to me as I stared on in shock & ordered me to go wait in the lobby & said we could NOT have the room that the housekeeper was cleaning & we should have never been promised it. That was the only reason we made reservations. We could not go anywhere else as we were preparing for our son's wedding, & we needed this location and a 2/2. The manager continued screaming, &, again, told us to wait in the lobby, but we continued sitting in our car. We eventually got the room, but carpet was stained, tub insert bowed in the middle, but we managed.

The location is great, staff and service too, but the hotel is lack of maintenance, to old and we have to ask for the room cleaning cause they didn't, too bad.

This was our first trip to San Antonio. The Hawthorne suites made us feel at home away from home. The ability to cook home cooked meals, the ability to do laundry in the premise. The location from the San Antonio airport was perfect. Not too busy traffic. Front Desk staff very accommodating to my needs. I would recommend this hotel to families visiting San Antonio.

Staff was friendly and courteous. Very nice and clean. Easy access to everything and yet quiet. Enjoyed our stay.

Hotel staff was very attentive and friendly! They went out of their way for us! The hotel needs much work. Bathtub had a large crack down the middle so we had to stand carefully in shower to not feel like we were about to fall through! Repairs to the room were not finished. Painting needed all over the room, thermostat falls off wall, torn sofa cushions and doors that either don't close or open properly.

Our suite had a large bedroom with flat screen TV and walk-in closet. The living room was was comfortable with a couch, flat screen TV, and desk with Wi-Fi hook-up. The kitchen was complete with anything you'd need. Since we were on the second floor, we had a balcony with two rocking chairs, overlooking the courtyard and pool. The only negative was the outside stairs were very steep. The breakfast room was pleasant with plenty of food available. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

This was unique to have 8 suites per building situated on very nice grounds. Nice patio or balcony and great floor plans that felt more like an apartment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great too. A lot of choices of both hot and cold foods added to the value. Considering the room rates and the savings of not having to buy breakfast for our family of four we saved a bundle. We love to come to San Antonio to shop and see the sites. We will stay here each time we travel to San Antonio for sure. I highly recommend this hotel and have already told others about it.

Pretty good experience here. Continental breakfast got challenging for table space. Also, everyone wanting waffles had a long wait with one machine. Location is close to shopping, movies, and freeway access. Very quiet at night.

The location using a GPS had me 20 miles west Of where the hotel was actually at. I was using the physical address. Using Hawthorne Suites led right to it. Update the hotels address in the GPS system with the city of Live Oak. Then others will not encounter what I did. Only bad thing about the whole stay.

Overall this hotel is excellent, the location is convenient, the room size is very comfortable, having a kitchen turns out to be very usefull and the price is uncomparable! I stayed three nights and have no complains at all! I would stay there again without a doubt!

Cozy 2 bedroom suite with sofabed and kitchette,2bath. We ate a family of 6 with 4 kids and this was plenty. We normally try to squeeze in a double but somebody always ends up on the floor. We all had a place to sleep and the kitchen had a stove and microwave which saved us on eating out which can be expensive with 6 of us.

The hotel itself was very nice, the breakfast buffet was not that great, but we went to the store & bought our own things & fixed breakfast on our own. We we would stay there again.

The hotel was an older one and the rooms were not clean well. stuff on the floor. Some wall plugs didn't work.. Bathroom small. Had kitchen but the stove was dirty and the garbage disposel didn't work. Could hear the people upstairs walking.

I stayed here over 4th of July weekend, with Family and my boyfriend for a great rate! Especially for a suite, over a holiday weekend. This was our SECOND time back to Hawthorn. We're already making plans for Labor Day Weekend. We love this place so much, we call it our "apartment" in San Antonio. It's a good 20 miles, from my cousins place, down 1604, but the drive doesn't stop us from always getting together by the pool/river to party! We actually prefer staying here, rather than their place.

We booked this hotel for Memorial Weekend and enjoyed our stay very much. Rooms were clean, staff was very nice. We will be going again soon and are going stay at this location again. We Loved It.

This was a family vacation. My husband, daughter and myself drove in from Houston and my best friend, who is like my sister, came in from Dallas. The location was very conveinient for the both of us. Very nice to be able to stay in the same place like the suites, didn't have to worry about the possibility of the 2 rooms being very far apart, or maybe on different floors. The place was clean and relatively quiet. The staff was VERY nice and VERY quick to respond to our needs, the coffee pot was cracked and had a new one brought to the door within five minutes of my call. Lovely complimentary breakfast, we got to make our own waffles-my five year old got a super kick out of that! The suite itself was like a small 2 bedroom apartment, the bedrooms were large and roomy with huge walk-in closets, beds were comfortable, bathrooms roomy and clean. Full kitchen and living room were on the small side, but would be ok even for an extended stay. Over all, I was extremely pleased with the hotel and nicely surprised since I was just a little wary about not having any previous reviews to read. We went to Sea World, the Safari Park, and of course, visited the Alamo and surrounding venues downtown. Everything was easy to get to from this hotel, and the wireless internet service made it even easier to locate places such as restaurants or other touristy attractions. We have already started to make plans for a future trip to include staying at this hotel, I was that pleased!
