Staff was exceptional. 2 blocks from the River Walk – which was perfect! Enjoyed our weekend.

We loved staying, our room was in the perfect location, the hotel restaurant was excellent, the staff was great, they were eager to please and very helpful when we had questions. The location of the hotel is also great, close to the river walk and the Alamo, many quaint shops for touring. We would definitely recommend it and if we come back we will stay at the Marriott Plaza Sa Antonio again.

Hotel is close to Riverwalk, Alamo and nearby sites. Staff were extremely kind, from check-in to breakfast staff through to check-out. Visiting with kids who loved the peacocks and pool. The room wasn't ready when we got there, but other than that, it was a great stay.

The view from the room was nice, and the room was big but the hotel staff is a bit rude, the rooms are pretty expensive and not only do you pay crazy nightly rates but you are also charged per day to park at the hotel. I was told one price when I booked the hotel and when I checked in I was given the quote for the room which was $300.00 more expensive than what I was told originally. Needless to say the hotel was a bit of a let down

Good experience overall during my time there. The staff was nice.

Second time stayed here for family trip. Management very courteous and attentive. Nice pool and bar service and very kid friendly

Had a great experience, close to the river walk, friendly staff, very welcoming. Room was very spacious and comfortable! Parking convenient!

Enjoyed the hotel really nice and beautiful. It was close to everything! The only problems we had was the big black beetles in our room. One was on my pillow the first night!! Our sheets had blood stains on them. House keeping didn't give us another roll of toilet paper. We woke up the second night at 4 am to our neighbors headboard banging on the wall, they were getting it on too loud. And we got stuck in the parking area for a good 30 mins because the gate was not working. But other than all that we had a nice stay like the pool and the peacocks it was fun and beautiful. :)

I stay at this location 6 to 10 times a year on both personal and business. For nearly 20 years this has been my favorite SA hotel. Even though there have been many changes from hotel brands to interior and staff it still consistently delivers a great stay. There are many great hotels in San Antonio but the Plaza is still my favorite!

I enjoyed my stay. We were not informed if continental breakfast or room service was available. Although I could of just asked as much traveling as I did it would of been nice for someone to remind me.

This was a kinda a “spur of the moment” trip for the family to San Antonio (SA). We used a travel website that rhymes with “buybak” to start looking for hotel rates in the Riverwalk area of downtown SA. The Marriott Plaza San Antonio had the best rates and looked to be fairly close to downtown / Riverwalk area. Location – It’s within 3 – 4 blocks walk to the Riverwalk. There are stairs down to the Riverwalk behind the Hiton Del Rio (?). The hotel is 5 – 6 block walk to The Alamo. It’s an easy walk, and our family walked to the Alamo twice. We took the River Boat Tour also ($8.50/pp) – the ticket stand is right behind the Hilton (again, 2 – 3 blocks from the Marriott). Another poster wrote that the bus stop is right outside the Marriott – this is correct. The published rates were $1.10 per person to get on the bus, and I think the bus goes most everywhere in the downtown SA area. Staff – The staff at the check-in desk was nice. They had incorrect information regarding the hours at The Alamo, though. The valet / bell stand guys were really nice. The restaurant staff was the best – one guy even brought my daughter and me a muffin from the restaurant while we were waiting in the lobby for my wife and son. Just because he saw us sitting there by ourselves. Breakfast – Get the buffet breakfast – even better, if you’re offered the option of “adding breakfast” at the hotel for a $20.00 or so upcharge – take it. It’s a steal, and the buffet is really good. Made to order Belgium waffles and made to order omlettes. Hot food selections were bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, and hot oatmeal. Then your selection of cold meats and chesses including salmon and capers. Fresh cut fruit, cold cereals, and muffins, toast, etc were also available. By far the best value on the trip, and I urge couples and families with children less than 15 to take advantage of the “add breakfast for $20” option if it’s given to you on one of the travel booking websites. Room – Nice enough – two double beds, rather than two queen size beds. Room looked like it had been refurbed within the last 2 – 3 years, but the hotel was definitely an “older” hotel. The pool was nice, but there were quite a few mosquitoes about. Our children enjoyed it, though. We asked for more towels, but they were sent to the wrong room. One MAJOR issue I had with the room was that Marriott wanted to charge you $12 per day for internet service in the room. Internet (Wifi) was free in the lobby. This is simply unacceptable in 2012 to charge for internet in a hotel room – especially when it was available in the hotel. The room had a mini fridge, but it didn’t get real cold. If you have ice packs or you are carrying things that have to be kept frozen, do not rely on this fridge to do this.

Staff was generally helpful and professional. The room lacked a microwave, and the complementary coffee maker and fixin's were average. Location of this hotel is superb; 2 Blks from RW, 2 Blks from Hemisfair and tower of Americas and 2 Blks from Williams historical district. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

VERY NOISY ROOM-325- GUEST WERE TO ROUDY AT NIGHT. POOR INSULATION BETWEEN ONE ROOM TO ANOTHER. HAD TO GO TO SLEEP AROUND MIDNIGHT, WHEN THEY WOULD CALM DOWN. WHERE IS THE GREAT MARRIOT EXPERIENCE?

I really liked the staffs at this hotel. They were very kind. Also, it was overall clean.

The hotel was OK, but for the price we felt it could have provided more value. The restaurant in the hotel was OK, but overpriced. We have stayed other places similarly priced that provided a free breakfast buffet. The location was close to the riverfront which nice. The room, itself, was nice and well decorated. We enjoyed the balcony and view.

Be prepared for paying about $25/day for parking. The room was kind of loud (strange humming sound that kicked on and off), we think it was from the AC. We got 2 rooms, one on the 3rd floor and one on the 7th. Both rooms had a problem with the bathtub drain, it drained soooooo slow while taking a shower we thought it had completely backed up. The big plus for the hotel was that it was only a 5 min walk to the Riverwalk.

I booked a weekend at the Marriott on the spur of the moment. This was not a planned weekend, I just wanted to get away, so I chose the Marriott because it seemed to be close to the area I had planned to visit, I was told the estimated check in would be 4:00, but I was allowed to check in at 12:30 which was great, the room was wonderful and the scene from our balcony was superb. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were close to all the attractions that we wanted to see. A big thanks to the Marriott.

everything good , only the pool a little cold even at 5pm in the evening

The hotel rooms were clean and spacious however we were disappointed in the lack of amenities. There was no refrigerator or microwave, the sheets were only changed every three days, and they charged us to use the parking facility. The staff however was super friendly and filled with helpful information on local hot spots.

The accomodations were great but found you could not have internet connection in the room without paying an additional fee and also found that they charge for parking which was not disclosed. However they did take off the parking charge when asked why it was not disclosed when checking in. The location was great for the riverwalk and the Alamo.

Dear Kels, Thank you for your comments. I do apologize for providing you anything less than exemplary service during your stay. Our goal is to always provide first in class accommodations and service and I am sorry for falling short of that. As you mentioned, we do have a charge for parking at the Marriott that is very competitively priced for the market. Thank you again for staying with us and we do hope you will allow us to make it up to you in the future. Sincerely, Maria - GM
