Hotel Goldgasse is a wonderful, small (16 room) hotel located in the heart of the altstadt (old city) on a very picturesque narrow alley. If you come by car, you will need to park at the Aldstadt Garage, about a 5 minute walk away. For those with lot's of luggage, you can get a code from the reception to enter the old city to drop off you bags at the lobby. Martin at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful orienting us to both to the hotel and the city. The room was very comfortable and well stocked with free water and soft drinks, coffee and teas. Breakfast buffet was also very good. Location is fantastic to venture out and explore the aldstadt, and is also close to pedestrian bridge to cross to new city and bus stop for a day in the mountains.
We really enjoyed our stay, it ticked every box. Let's start with price wasn't an issue. It was a last minute booking and Salzburg was 88% full. Central location in old town, and near the Dom, nice area, lovely, helpful staff, room in attic with terrace access. Room had WOW factor with full opera themed mural poster on the wall, Smeg mini fridge with complimentary drinks, welcome pack of goodies, and the most comfortable beds. The bathroom is lovely and modern, but the shower is a little small, but is an old building, so great job and it had great water pressure and heat. The room showed a little wear where suitcases have bumped the walls and left marks, we felt that was a good sign, that many guests had enjoyed this room. We had dinner in the restaurant (separate review), and on departing a taxi was ordered and for the 200 metres to the taxi, umbrellas were supplied. Nothing was too much for this hotel. Thank you for a fabulous stay !
My husband and I stayed here for two nights. We had a wonderful room with a patio outside. The room was plenty big for the two of us, the room was equipped with everything we needed included coffee and drinks. The service was great, the location was perfect - we highly recommend this hotel.
Had a great stay at the Goldgasse...we arrived after a 30 hour trip from Australia about 11am and were checked into our room immediately. The location is perfect right in the heart of the old town , bed is super comfortable and bathroom small but modern. One improvement re bathroom would be to replace toiletries daily, these were not replaced at all during a 3 night stay. Highly recommend this hotel.
Look we loved this hotel . The lady that welcomed us what great . Warm charming and gets 5 stars . The room is in the heart of Salzburg . You couldn't have a better location . Rooms are modern small and quirky . I loved them but not luxurious if thats what your looking for . Great beds . Great of the top shower . My only gripe is the lack of training of the hotel staff to help you with activities around Salzburg . We had two separate staff members attempt to help us on two different days. One booked a tour and sent us to the wrong location . You can not image the mess this caused . In addition, another staff member the very next day gave us incorrect bus information to eagle's nest .(A popular tourist destination) . Look ,i don't really blame staff . I blame management. Staff member are helpful and want to help . More education on popular sites needs to be done . By the way, i wrote the hotel privately before posting with no response . This was a little surprising . Regardless , otherwise .. go for the little gem .
My friend and I stayed here for one night while visiting Salzburg and had no complaints. The room was super cute, spacious for the two of us (there was the main room then a step down to a sitting area), and had a nice sized bathroom and shower. They gave us a nice little welcome package and the first round at the mini bar was free. Our room faced into other buildings so we were able to keep the windows open without any noise (other than birds and church bells!). We did not eat at the hotel at all so I cannot comment on that. The location is great! Right in the heart of Old Town. We walked everywhere and had a great time exploring the city. That being said, it is in the heart of Old Town which means no access directly from the street. You will not be able to pull right up to the hotel. We had to park our car (the hotel gives parking suggestions) and then carry our luggage through cobblestone streets to get to the hotel. We did not mind and knew it was the price to pay to stay where we were. I definitely recommend this hotel if you want a great boutique hotel experience with a lot of nice amenities in the room in the heart of the town!
It is essential for other travelers and all future plans made by others that I record here a fair 1 out of 5 score for this place, a true disappointment to me for several important reasons. This is ideal accommodation for a small creature with poor taste - Hotel Goldgasse, Middle Earth, is the perfect hotel for a hobbit. This is a truly diminutive hotel suitable for people who have no interest in views, light or panorama. The hotel is a cave system that will genuinely test the resolve of many guests. Please do not travel to stay here with hopes of mountain landscape or indeed any form of openness and space at all normally associated with The Alps. I felt profoundly claustrophobic and it is reasonable even to say entombed. Other travelers on this site have said quirky, odd, deranged- these would all be kind descriptions. An early form of live burial would be far more apt. The occupants in the homes that surround this strange place will be able to watch you as you sip a cup of bergamot tea in your benighted room. This is a tardis - an inner city stone confusion from well before the dawn of classical music. It is fair and right to say - check in at your peril. Please at very least check the stone complex over before you transfer any funds and commit. And do not expect any refund if you have to leave earlier than originally planned because of entrapment, claustrophobia or deep and general disappointment. A more detailed account can be provided in response to any specific questions from any traveler.
I visited Salzburg with my family and we all enjoy this hotel. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful, making as feel at home. The location is another advantage, since you are in the heart of the old town and that gives you the chance to walk around, go into all the little stores and enjoy the city. We only stay for a night, but we would like to return and spend more time in Salzburg and at the Goldgasse.
Well, i did not really understand why it is called a luxury hotel. It is a very ordinary place and there is nothing above average. So here are the negatives: -noisy room (our room was facing the street so we could hear any child screaming out or anyone talking loud. Also the room was next to the lift, hence another source of noise. I am a heavy sleeper but even i got interrupted several times)... Plus, on our first day someone was hammering the wall for quite a long time. When i called the reception, the lady told me she is working there for 10 years and this is always the case: awkward ! -average room size and quality -toiletries not replaced -average breakfast So all in all, not worth the price paid... Few positives: -location (main reason why we picked this place): close to all main attractions, but Salzburg is a small town anyway, so not sure how much the location can increase the price this much really. -the lady helping with the breakfast was full of energy and very helpfull -best part of the breakfast was the coffee...
From the moment we were dropped at the end of the land new Goldgasse, I knew this would be a magical place to stay. Right in the heart of old town, in a beautiful little lane way, and a quick walk to everything! The staff are superb and genuinely glad to welcome you - and nothing is a problem for them. The hotel is small, but truly beautiful, with very cool artwork throughout. I can't more highly recommend a stay in Hotel Goldgasse - perfect in every way. Thank you - we will be back!
