The Cliff Lodge and Spa

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Loud, obnoxious guests. Non of our 3 rooms got sleep because of noise.

The setting is spectacular. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Not one hiccup the whole time I was there. The spa is great with the outdoor pool and hot tub. My room was very nice with a 40 inch flat screen TV with all great channels HBO, History Channel, CNN ect. It's satellite TV. Really great place people were so nice and it wasn't like they were forced to be nice they just were. Very special place. The food everywhere was excellent and pricing reasonable (just my opinion). I ate at the Steak Pit what a treat. Oh almost forgot so much snow it just kept coming down. March is a big snow month so be aware if you go in March you will see a ton of snow.

We spent our thanksgiving here for skiing. Fun trip and great service!

The hotel was undergoing renovation so it probably did not look its best. Everything was well run, professional, and staff were friendly and kind. I (and my friends) found the decor strange--brutalism meets Japon meets the West. It's not charming compared to places like Sundance, but it is extremely comfortable and clean. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. I imagine very nice for families.

The Cliff Lodge is as close as you can get to OktoberFest! Enjoy the festivals during the day, then relax in the hot tub in the evening.

Our favorite staycation location every summer. No kiddos allowed in the roof top pool :) plus the views are AMAZING

Cliff Lodge always delivers. Best chance to get great snow late in the season, ski-in/out location, variety of restaurants roof-top pool and spa and beautiful Alta only two miles up the road. Bell service shuttle is always available upon request to go to Alta or to nearby off the mountain restaurant.

You can't beat the location! Ski in and ski out. Staff was extremely friendly. The hotel itself is a bit dated in terms of decor and amenities from a room and facility standpoint. You can rent skis and buy lift tickets within the property and the onsite ski lockers are very convenient. While the restaurants are nice, you will run out of variety if you are staying for more than 3 nights.

This is definitely a hotel for the locals. Rooms were good. Beds were cozy. Hotel needs some updating though. Wonderful to be right on the mountain. View are great from the room. Staff is very courteous and willing to make your stay comfortable. Don't expect any "fancies". Come here to get a decent room, get some good skiing in, and eat a good meal. Expect to pay the price of on the mountain accommodations though.

Hotel is walking distance to Oktober Fest and Snowbird activities. Kids had a blast and so did Patents!!

The hotel was comfortable. The setting was beautiful and we loved the hiking both right from the hotel and in neighboring Alta.

Had a good time. Pool was nice. AC didn't work but they quickly moved us to another room. Wish we had access to the pool for the whole day after check out.

This resort was very good and the time of the season great to get good access to the lifts. This late meant that a few of the restaurants weren't open. The Spa was great but expensive. Over $200 for a massage is getting up there, particularly when you are asked to tip prior the treatment being given!

great location. We skied and had a great time here. The hot tub and outdoor pool made the day complete after skiing all day.

We love snowbird because of the easy access to chickadee especially with little kids. We love the sushi bar, it is always a bonus for us as our kids are old enough to watch a movie and get a pizza while we have a date upstairs at the sushi bar. Snowbird snowboarding is the best, we have never been disappointed! It is worth the extra money to stay if you have young kids because they can learn right outside the doors. the outdoor pool and hot tubs are a blast too!

Our overall experience at Cliff Lodge was good. Things were very conveniently located and the ski in ski out was a super plus. The rooms are average hotel rooms. Only negative was the view from the room was more of a view of the parking garage than of the mountain. So I would say save your money and stay on the cheaper side! As the more expensive mountain side view room is some mountains, but mostly parking garage view. Overall our family enjoyed and will probably return again next year or the year after. Thanks for the great family time at Snowbird in the snow in Utah.

The Cliff Lodge makes it so so easy to ski/board stress free! The ski/board lockers that come with each room are convenient and very roomy, and make it a pleasure to get ready for the mountain and just glide out the door from locker level to the slopes. The hotel even blows warm air into the lockers every evening so that all of your wet gear is cozy in the morning, and equipment is not in danger of rust. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Massage therapists at this hotel are top notch and eucaplyptus steamroom is perfect after a day on slopes. I would return again and again.

We booked this property because we ski 2-3 times a year and really prefer the ski-in, ski-out location. As our first time heading to Snowbird/Alta, we wanted something near the slopes. While Snowbird does not offer a rich variety of lodging, the Cliff seemed to be the best of the options when viewed online. Upon arrival the building looms like a concrete fortress stretching across the base. Built in the 80s, it screaming for refurbishment. We were there for the holiday season and the place was dark and dingy. Barely any holiday atmosphere with the only Christmas tree being stuck in the basement. The hotel lacks a common area or grand fireplace which would give it atmosphere. The hotel tries to hide the concrete with carpets everywhere which seems an odd fit to the Utah locale. It reminded me of ski vacations I took in Slovakia in the early 90s - large concrete souless hotels with drab interior that somehow depresses you. The rooms were functional, but nothing special. Flat screen TV a bonus. Save yourself some money if you must stay here and avoid the mountain view upgrade. It's a farce. We were on the 7th floor and you get a nice view of the parking garage and part of the slopes. No big deal. The other side you will also see the mountains as the lodge sits in the canyon. The food options were lousy across the resort. The lodge's Aerie Restaurant was closed for repair, so the only other options were in the dungeon/basement of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was mediocre. Like most buffets, they load it up with cheap carb items and I think the eggs were powdered. At 15.99 a person, you'd think they would offer more higher end options. Service across the lodge was haphazard. The breakfast gets chaotic and servers forget you. The valet staff are the best. For the rest, you could die in a corner in the place and probably be swept under one of the smelly carpets. Yes the hallways smelled musty. The coffee across the entire resort was terrible (of course this is personal), but they should just let a Starbucks in, since they can't seem to get it right. To be honest, you come to Alta-Snowbird for the skiing. Do yourself a favor and just stay in Sandy, Ut. You have more dining options and life around there and the slopes are within very easy quick drive.

This is a bit older hotel but has been maintained really well. The rooms were clean but the bed was not comfortable at all and bathroom was dated. Hair dryer was good and worked quickly. The dehumidifier didn't seem to help the dryness at all. The hot tubs were nice and not very crowed during pre-ski season. You can ski-in ski-out to Snowbird. Staff were amazing and very helpful and very nice. Not much in the Snowbird area for eating except the main restaurants- the Mexican one is wonderful. I would stay here again if there was a sale.

We had our own locker for skis, boots, helmets, etc. There was a boot warmer inside the locker. It was the quietest room that I stayed in in a long time. All the staff was efficient and quick. We loved the Cliff Lodge..our second visit there. All the restaurants in the area were delicious. We all loved Alta, even though we came to ski Snowbird.
