I frequently stay at Choice Hotels, some are better than others. This one went beyond my expectations. At check-in, the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was attractive and spacious and the bed makes me sleepy remembering it. There were many breakfast offerings and the staff kept the area stocked and running smoothly. The hotel is not as convenient from I-70 as it is from I-135, but it's worth taking the few extra minutes travel time to get there. Be sure to ask about good local restaurants. The recommended Tuscon's Steakhouse Saloon and Grill would have been a better choice than the Red Lobster where we went and it was in the same area, close to the hotel.
This hotel isn't "Dirty". But is definitely not well maintained. It is nice looking on the outside, but lacking on the inside. Our room did not have bed bugs or anything, But has red and black scuff marks all over the walls, foam exposed in sofa because of broken zipper, some stains on sofa and chair, shower is weak, shower curtain stained, rusted fixtures, at least the beds are clean... Overall this property is not deserving of the Comfort inn or comfort suites nameplate. I got a good rate, but we probobly won't be back. We have stayed at many comfort inns and comfort suites and this is the poorest we've stayed at...
Pretty underwhelming experience all around, although the staff was generally welcoming and helpful. We arrived very late so we didn't use the pool or other amenities. The room had some problems. There were some tight spaces between beds and walls, and those areas were not cleaned. Walls next to beds had dried stains that needed attention. Shower also had residue on the walls. Bathroom fixtures were rusted and showed lack of attention. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ... interesting. Sausage, eggs, waffles, cold items ... typical fare. However, the staff was having trouble keeping the area stocked, and apparently one of the staff had her children there eating breakfast. They weren't the least bit disrespectful or troublesome, but it didn't help with the food supply problem. We ended up stopping at the convenience store nearby to finish eating. I'd look at other options before stopping here again. Our experience was definitely not reflective of the high rating this facility has right now. The Choice Hotels brand has been very hit and miss for us lately; at this price point my expectations are much higher.
we got to this hotel on Saturday night about 7:30 after 500 miles of driving which included a hail storm so we were ready to get some rest - but when we got to our room, it had NOT be made up - so I had to let the front desk guy know and he promptly got everything to do it himself - he was very nice about it, had a good attitude - while I was bringing in more things from our car, I saw a lady waiting at the front desk and I told her that he was away making up our room and she said that she had the same problem - so apparently housekeeping is poor - at breakfast it was apparent that someone had NOT purchased adequate food - the lady who got the food out said that she had sent someone to the store to get more of various things and she was very pleasant and gracious - while getting our car loaded up, one of the housekeepers talked with me and I let her know about our room not being made and she said that the hotel had had a power outage but I don't see how that keeps someone from making beds and changing the towels - or coming back later when the electricity was back on - this hotel has great facilities but is poorly run - the general manager should have been present to make sure the problems were being resolved but NO sign of such a person - there are obviously many employees who care about taking care of the guests but some who don't including the GM - other things - although not on I-70, it is just six miles away and while the entrance to the hotel is not easy to find, the hotel is easily visible from the highway - we asked for a mobility accessible room and all we got was a room on the first floor close to the back entrance - if someone needs help getting off the toilet or into the bath, there is no help so to say that this is mobility accessible is misleading - if were to stay in Salina again, I'd check out the Best Western Plus which is next door or stay in Abilene
This is a great location. It's just right off the freeway, close to restaurants and shopping. The front desk gentleman was very accommodating. We had a cook out in the parking lot as a team and we were allowed to use the breakfast area to eat as it was quite cool outside. Check in was a breeze. they has tea, water and pretzels at all times in the lobby. Kids enjoyed the pool. There was a sauna but no hot tub. The room was nice but the beds were quite hard for me. I did not sleep well. they were also very close to the wall and AC unit so made it very hard to get in and out with two people in the bed. Breakfast had all the main items and they kept it well stocked. Not an easy feet with at least three ball teams staying there. I think the attendant for got to turn on the gravy. It wasn't very warm.
My husband surprised me with an overnight stay in Salina -- just a little break from a strange and hectic week. On a whim, we decided to go with Comfort Suites, since we'd had a good experience in one on a recent visit to Silverthorne, CO. And we were pleasantly surprised by this particular hotel, too. Very clean, very friendly, good breakfast selection, etc., but the personnel is what really made the place. Nathan did a great job checking us in and informing us about the hotel amenities, but it was his willingness to go above and beyond later in the evening that really stood out. After settling in, we were disappointed and puzzled by our inability to get only one channel on the room TV. We both tried, over and over, but couldn't get any of the channel selections listed in the room's hotel services guide. We finally gave up and called the front desk and Nathan came up to our room to check it out. Come to find out, the connection was completely broken, but he worked with it until we were at least able to change channels ... if we stood at just the right place in the room! So yeah, the problem wasn't fixed, and he couldn't fix it, but he was persistent and kept at it until he was able to resolve the issue as much as possible. Also, the lady at the breakfast buffet was such a sweetheart and also extremely helpful. Now, we did encounter a couple of "cosmetic issues" that should be addressed, in addition to the broken television connection, that being a big gouge and "run" in the carpeting, right next to the bed, as well as a broken handle on the bathtub faucet. But overall, these weren't really serious enough to change our positive experience and impression of the place, and even though we only live a few miles away, we will be visiting again the next time we just need a quick get-away and change of scene. Thank you so much for a lovely visit!

Another of my Best Kept Secrets when I travel is the Comfort Suites in Salina, Kansas. The hotel is clean, the breakfast is great, the staff is friendly. What more can you ask for? Do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel.
Dirty walls, carpet torn up, smoker at entrance, toilet paper 1/8 of a roll, reserved a king got a queen, sent to an occupied room. Hallway unclean, beat up walls. Desk attendant was pleasant, but Could it be any worse
The room was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Hubby got a back ache from the bed but I slept fine. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. The food was cold. We were there with a group of about 15 people and we gathered in the lobby after dinner.
