Arrived on Saturday just after lunch and our business deluxe room was ready. The room itself was very spacious with feature chaise longue. Bed was huge as well and extremely comfortable. Aircon worked although controls a bit outdated. Bathroom could do with updating although clean and functional. Some may find the room decor a bit bland and clinical. TV was a bit dated and picture on it was poor. View over the canal nice but there’s a lot of building work going on so don’t go just for the view. Mini bar with standard ridiculous pricing available - £2.95 for a standard packet of Maltesers? I know that they will have guests that wouldn’t care what the price is but really!!?? Breakfast slightly disappointing. Plates were cold and the cooked food also was on the tepid site although ingredients, except black pudding (which was not good) were fine. Lots of choice on continental. Decent service. Didn’t use restaurant or room service. Overall, whilst I enjoyed the stay I wasn’t convinced I was in a 5 star hotel. I stayed at the Pullman in London recently which is an Accor 4* and I would say that was as good if not better than the Lowry. I couldn’t fault any of the staff that served us but at over £300 for the room, breakfast and parking I would try out alternatives in Manchester.

Recently visited for champagne afternoon tea and spa treatments. I have visited the hotels facilities before and always had great service, my recent visit was no exception. The thing that stands out most if the friendliness of the staff. The spa treatments were lovely and again the spa staff were lovely, although the lack of spa facilities such a pool or jacuzzi is disappointing for a 5* hotel.

Service at the bar was slow. Upon arrival, we were told it was table service and then waited 15 mins before giving up and going back to the bar to order directly. But, by far the worst bit, was being charged almost £50 for car parking! The hotel advertises valet parking but upon arrival, we were just informed by the staff outside the hotel, that there was a car park around the corner. There is a lot of construction going on around the hotel and temporary traffic lights between the front of the hotel and the car park so it was confusing, to say the least. The entrance to the car park is also under construction boards and no barriers are in operation so no ticket machines issuing tickets. We parked our two cars and made our way to check in. We were not asked if we had parked in the car park at any point other than when we came to check out at which point a charge of £48 was added to the bill. When we challenged this, the receptionist simply stated, several times, that there are signs in the car park that tell you how much it is! We pointed out that, had we been informed when we checked in we would not have parked there and asked to see the Duty Manager. The DM manager did reduce the charge to £24 but this is still excessive and guest should be informed of the charges when they check it and not left to read signs which are amidst a building site. The aforementioned construction is also very noisy with our room facing directly onto it and work commencing around 8am. Again not something mentioned when booking. I also emailed the hotel spa in advance to book an early yoga class but never received a reply. Rooms are lovely, location is great. Sadly 5-star service it isn't!

I've stayed here many times, but have recently been really disappointed. I stayed here for my birthday on the 26th May as I was going to a concert. When we got back we went to the bar. I was stopped on the way in and told that I was not allowed to stand at the bar and that I should sit down and wait to be served. I then watched lots of people come in and stand at the bar and get served before me. I asked the bar lady why, and she said I was just to expect a long wait but that she would get me some water while I waited. I then saw her serve the table next to me twice while I waited. I asked her why again and she just said she had planned to come to us next. I messaged the hotel and said I was due to stay there again the following week and would like to speak to someone. I have had a few messages confirming that someone would call me, but they never have. I am really disappointed with this as this hotel holds fond memories for me. I was really embarrassed by this as I had recommended this hotel to my friends who were with me.

The venue is modern and clean. The food was absolutely delicious. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, save for the six people on reception. The person next to me needed some local information. They couldn't assist and eventually the doorman assisted. It took three of them to work out what to charge for the car park and 10minutes to take payment and print a receipt!!

My friend bought us a champagne voucher for a 3 course meal. It was lovely. There was the seasonal menu and the service was really good. We did have to wait a while for the card machine but then it was brought over. Lovely place inside, greeted as soon as you walk through the door and are looked after!

We stayed recently whilst there have been some ugly flats built opposite, it didn't spoil the excellent concierge meet and greet and the newly refurbed reception area.The rooms were spot on as ever, though when are we going to get those nice walk in showers??. The bar is very comfortable with a great selection of wines however the service whilst friendly felt a bit slow. Still the best hotel in Manchester. At breakfast, best sausages around!!

What a fantastic hotel. You can smell the Jo Malone as you walk through the door. The beds were comfy. The rooms massive. But best of all the celebs all stay here we happened to be in the foyer same time as Ginger spice had put pic with her. When we returned that night Olly Murs was there so had a pic with him too.

Perfect location easy but expensive parking. Super attentive service. Sumptuous breakfast spacious rooms. The dinner package is excellent value for money Views were nice from the 6th floor and it was very quiet. Looking forward to going back soon

Stayed here this week while attending the spice girl concert. Was told we had been upgraded but room was no different than the last time I stayed. Rooms are spacious with tea and coffee facilities. Black out curtains were amazing for a lie in the next day 😊 mini bar is available in the room. Up on our return from the show it was nice to have the slippers left ready for our achy feet and a bottle of water and bed turned down. Comfy bed and nice shower facilities. For a high star hotel I just felt it was missing something special.
