I’d like to point out that there is a serious problem in booking with this hotel. They offer the option of a “discount” price, which on closer inspection means that no alterations are allowed. We made such a booking and because we had to change our plans we lost the entire amount paid (not only the cost of the first night but the cost of the entire stay) even though we cancelled our original booking more than two weeks in advance. So advice to other travellers: BE WARNED!
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Room Mate Vega. At first felt like a glorified hostel. Sure, it could use some updating. My room was on the top floor and only had a sky light. Which provided plenty of light. Was a decent size. Bathroom was big enough. Could use some refreshing. Yet between the location (excellent), the amazing staff, and cost it all worked for me. I can be a bit particular about hotels. In this case it was all good and I would most definitely stay here again. Also, if coming by train the No. 1 bus across from the station exit drops you off within a few meters of the hotel. All was seamless while staying at Room Mate Vega.
Starting with the positives, I found both the desk staff and the housekeeping staff to be super smiley and friendly. The location is quite close to the Plaza Mayor and all the major sites. However, my room small and dated. Carpet needs updating and the bathroom was so small when I sat on the toilet my knees were under the sink! Seriously not sure that a bigger person would even fit in this space. When I turned on the bathroom light it made this weird kaa-thunking noise every time and took a while to turn on. I found the mattress and pillows to be adequate. While in Salamanca I also stayed at the Catalonia Plaza Mayor and thought it was a better choice for me.
We stayed in Salamanca for 1 night , and wish we made it 2! Upon arrival the hotel is nice and clean staff are ever so friendly and helpful. Also good with English!! I didn't think it would be difficult but Spain has proven that there is quite a bit of a language barrier. The room was a nice set out which was spacious for 2 people. Beds and pillows are VERY comfortable for a little '3 star hotel' Breakfast was 13 euro for 2 people and just what you need. Only a couple of things that we noticed: Our bed wasn't a double , rather it was 2 singles pushed together which wasn't what we had requested. However, It wasn't a big enough issue for us to bring it to receptions attention so we had left it, especially as it was only one night. We were happy with our stay.
Lovely up market hotel. It is only a short distance from the Plaza Mayor. It has a discrete entrance that was hard to find . The garage was down a side street and free for motorcycles. The reception was cool. The room great ( except for the slowest filling bath I have ever seen) Decent breakfast with a wide choice ( including 3 hot choices... really rare in Spain )
The price/quality ratio of this hotel is above standard. Everything was very clean, rooms are large and very confortable, you are just 5 to 10 min walking of all the historic places in Salamanca. Breakfast with lot of things until 12h00. Parking is available, wichi is very important in this area of the city. We would stay there again, definitely!
We loved Salamanca and this hotel was in the perfect spot. It was clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was just OK and staff were helpful. Secure onsite parking is available but, even in our small car, it was a tight squeeze. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.
Great little hotel steps from Plaza Mayor. The hotel has a parking garage underneath building that is recommended to reserve a spot before you arrive. Like many streets in Spain, the garage is accessible from tiny hard to maneuver streets. If it's your first time driving in Spain, I can guarantee that you will feel a bit intimidated driving...especially if you're used to wide open pedestrian friendly roads of the USA. All of the staff spoke both English and Spanish, and were very helpful with suggestions or general info questions. The hotel itself is quite hip. The personal products are amazing. Great shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and pretty much anything you'd need. Our room had both a toilet and a bidet, and great water pressure in the shower. The mini bar was well stocked, although we never took advantage of it. There is an "Express" store not too far from the hotel. It's kind of like an upscale 7-11. Our room was in the back of the hotel, so we didn't hear much street noise. We visited in the middle of a major heatwave, and the A/C performed wonderfully. In fact, I had to turn it down because it was so cold. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
An upscale boutique hotel steps from the plaza. Rooms were spacious and comfy, noise from the street present, but bearable. Service spotless, breakfast bar more extensive than most. Comfortable bed and climate control. Will look for more of this chain in other cities.
This is a fabulous little hotel, truly boutique, in the heart of the city. The Staff were cheerful, friendly, helpful and polite just what every hotel should copy. Bedroom was compact but with a very comfortable bed, the bathroom was compact but with all the facilities. The location is just by the main square and all of central Salamanca is accessible by foot. What was also brilliant was the email from the hotel explaining just how to reach it by car. It has belowground garaging facilities which is very important in the centre of the city but it is a tight ' squeeze'!
