Clean, comfortable and warm but a bit dated. Certainly not a luxury hotel but ok as a place to sleep. Needs updating and a bit of TLC. The car park was a bit of a nightmare as it was very busy and has a strange design, but we managed. Fabulous view from the room of the thermal area made up for any deficiences.
We don't expect much because during our visits, it is quite cold (July). After staying in a campervan for a consecutive 8 days in South Island, travel to North Island is just normal & not that bad. But we're so tired and not expecting anything. At least just a bed to lay. With price nearly $70/night, to us it's quite OK. The surroundings of the hotel full of the sulphur/geiser smells (but not at all in the room) because its location is just next to Te Puia thermal park. The view also quite interesting as we can see the thermal gas at the back of the hotel, almost all the time we gone outside.
Hotel in great location with great view. Gave us wrong room but rectified immediately Though clean hotel is dated & in desperate need of refurb. No wifi & no 24 hour reception. Also taxi ride from city centre
The room was nice and warm good view of the thermal area but that was all this hotel had going for it. I could not believe I had to pay $195 for such terrible accommodation. The bed was so uncomfortable and creaked every time you moved, the top of the toilet cistern was cracked, the ceiling and wall had been patched, the curtains had the backing peeling off, we had to ask for milk. I feel like I was totally ripped off . This was not my hotel of choice as the place we had booked was full so they sent us here.
I was booked into this hotel as part of a work group. After looking at our rooms we checked out. My room had a stained wet carpet. A colleagues room had no fridge and the space where it had been was filthy and the carpet had a rotten hole beneath the space. The room smelt of rot. The ceiling fan had exposed wires hanging from the ceiling. This hotel is a disgrace and I would strongly recommend that it is avoided at all costs. If I could give it no stars I would
We booked a cheap room online and got given a room by the pool. Basics bed,fan,shower,toilet,TV sweet. Still old looking worn out. Comfy bed. Didn't test the pool out looked Un inviting. But when you wake up to a cockroach next to you. You squash it on the wall and leave asap. Never ever again. Yuck
Very dirty carpets, dirty curtains, every thing is so worn out, no phones, no bulbs in lifts, dirty worn out sheets and towels Customer service was good Had geyser view and that was only nice thing about the hotel
My wife and I booked a midrange room with a view through booking.com, we decided to stay at a place with a spa pool and pool to treat ourselves during our road trip. Upon arrival we were told by Richard (manager) we had to pay for our room up front. (Red flag #1) we thought this was unusual but paid anyway. Collected our key and found our room. (Red flag #2,3,4) we had to force the room door open to find the most disgusting dilapidated room I've ever seen. Exposed wires protruded from the wall, carpet ripped and stuck down with duct tape, ranch slider nailed shut with lockes that looked like they had been torn off, broken towel rails, water soaked vanity cupboards, no view and no way to exit the roam to the patio area the list goes on.(photos provided) We escaped the room in search of the pool to find it half empty, spa pool empty and in pieces & sauna inoperable. We promptly went to the front counter to ask Richard why the room and services were nothing like the description listed and we wanted to use our free cancelation and get our money back. Richard said no cash is stored on site and he is unable to provide a refund because the merchant card is in the offices off site he did however agree we had been mislead and lied to regarding the room and pools etc. Richard refused to speak to booking.com representatives demanding our refund, told us to "take furniture as payment" and then threatened to call the police because he did not like our attitude. We decided to leave knowing we'l we're entitled to our refund. For a month following our visit to silveroaks geyserland my wife would ring asking to speak to the owners of the buisness which we were told pop in daily. No return phone calls or responses from emails. We were told Linder is the only person that can provide a refund but after speaking to Linder we were told this could only be dealt with by the owners.I myself stepped up and did a little research on the company and subsequent owners of the buisness Denis Wilson, Dawn Wilson and Greg Wilson. I found that Greg Wilson works on the front counter of Silveroaks Heritage, my wife and I made several phone calls to Greg regarding our refund only to disregarded. I was only granted a refund when I tracked down his family's personal residence. P.S there are no company offices according to Greg ( merchant card location)
The amazing thing about this Silveroaks Geyserland are the incredible views of active geothermal areas. From our room we witnessed the geyser, large mud pool, silica terrace and a hot pool and saw it in the early hours shrouded in steam and late at night with lighting from a nearby park, awesome! This is a budget hotel but it was warm and clean with very helpful staff. Don't stay here if you are after a luxury stay, it is basic and a little rundown. It was our second stay and we wouldn't consider any other place as none have the views you come to Rotorua for. Cheap hotel.. priceless view.
We had a one night stay here and in the morning we found our one of the window glass of the car was broken and the stuff inside was stolen, the same thing was happened with other couple also ,when we informed reception they just said sorry and said may be the naughty guys done this. We come to know that it generally happens there.we suffer a lot to fix that and it spoiled our day . In the room refrigerator and phone was not working... very disappointed..highly inadvisable
