The hotel had no hot water at a temperature of 3ºC, we were unable to shower, complicating the night's sleep. The front desk attendant was grossly ignoring the situation. Never stay at this hotel hotel.
The hotel Ivanhoe is a beautiful piece of art hotel in the right place in Rome in walking distance to colosseo and the trevi fountain and many other historic places in Rome and walking distance to metro train station cavour , that for a few euros you can travel all over Rome , the Vatican and Spanish steps only a few stops away from hotel Ivanhoe, the hotel has beautiful wonderful helpful staff and excellent service and the breakfast was excellent !! I'm so happy with my holiday in Rome !! The rooms are clean and large for central Rome !! We had the time of our lives walking around Rome so close to historic places !! Hotel Ivanhoe 10/10
The location of the hotel is good and the staffs are brilliant. There are alot of things around the hotel if needed, restaurants, shops, coffee shops, metro etc. It is a short walk from the Termi station and other sites (apart from the Vatican). The room is ok but the bathroom is too too small. The hotel needs updating. Paints are coming off and chipping on walls. Breakfast is same everyday with limited choices.
Great hotel that is close to most sights. Nice small rooms that are clean. perfect to rest up in after long days walking around the sights of Rome. A very nice rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a glass of wine. The staff are all very helpful and polite. They all made our stay memorable. Thanks to everyone. Hope to return sometime. Best wishes Thomas and Ellinor.
I loved my stay at the Hotel Ivanhoe. Yes the room and bathroom was very small but then it is right in the historic centre of Rome. You are a ten minute walk from the Colosseum and the main rail Termini. The staff are really friendly and helpful - they gave me a brilliant tip of where to eat locally. I would have preferred breakfast to have started slightly earlier (it starts at 0730) but overall for the price I paid and the amazing location the Ivanhoe is great.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend vacation. Great location, friendly staff and ok breakfast. The rooms are small and some of them too small for two persons. We had to ask to change our room and we got one with some better space.
Its located approx 10 mins (by walking) from Roma Termini, and less than 1 min walk from Cavour Metro station. Hence you have several options to reach the hotel. It's stuck in a small street, rooms are clean, bathroom is ok but the shower cubicle is really tiny. The reception staff were really helpful and kind! Tq to the team for the nice stay!
I made reservations 5 months in advance. I booked one room with two beds. I even emailed the hotel to be sure they understood I was fine with single beds, I just needed two of the them. I was emailed back confirming my request. Fast forward to the day of check in - and mind you, we were there ahead of their posted check in time - and I was informed that they had just rented their last room with two beds, all they had left was a room with one bed, but they'd be happy to give us towels to roll up and put between us (because it somehow makes sharing a mattress and blankets easier to do if you take up more bed space with rolled up towels.) I'm guessing that because I was only staying one night, and they had another guest that wanted two beds who was staying more than one night, it made sense to them to give my room away. But that is the EXACT reason I made a reservation so far in advance, so that I would have priority on my room choice. That was their first mistake. The next mistake was putting us in a room so small we could barely walk around the bed - a bed which was literally knee-high. The bathroom was the size of a cruise ship bathroom. The shower was so small you could not bend over, so forget washing your feet or shaving your legs. The shower head was the detachable kind, which would have been convenient if only it attached to something in the first place. The flex-hose was wrapped over a screw sticking out of the wall. The shower head had to be held in one hand the whole time, which also made showering difficult. The air conditioning worked well, which was a plus. However, after running for about an hour it started dripping water so profusely that it entirely soaked a bath towel by the next morning. Our room was clean and cool, which is about the only good thing I can say, and if that's all that's important, then Ivanhoe will meet your needs. But if you also expect simple things, like getting the room you actually reserved in advance, you will be disappointed.
We had a reservation for 3 person / 3 days in September. During my booking process, booking.com draw my attention that the hotel might make a deposit on my card. I thought, ok, it's really not usual, but why not... Then - to my great surprise - the hotel made a deposit on my card to the first night two times in 10 days, which means more the 1 000 EUR on my debit card (my whole charge was about 840 EUR in total). I thought OK, that's just a deposit, no problem - I contacted the hotel, booking.com and my bank as well. The hotel staff was everything but not helpful. They promised they won't do any more deposits, I will pay on site. Great, let's do that. What happened next? The hotel kept making deposits until my card disabled... I cancelled my booking immediately. I was really really frustrated after I while. I just can't believe it's the way they handle bookings. I have never met this before and I can't accept it.
Overall, I give a three for the following reasons: The hotel appeared to be cleaned and the staff was super friendly. The location was great - there are a ton of shops and restaurants around. The Colosseum is a 10 min walk. I walked everywhere with in 30 min - Trevi, Spanish Steps, Borghese gallery, Pantheon, etc. I really enjoyed the roof top terrace. They offered breakfast - however, I only had it once. Personally, I didn't care for it. The AC didn't really work. But based on my own reading, it appears that if a person wants top notch AC in Rome, you must pay more for accommodation. I had a great sized bathroom. But the over all setting of the bathroom needs to be addressed. The tub was only partially covered. So, every time I showered water got all over the place. I tried my best to prevent this, but to no avail. If I was the owner of this place I would want to get that fixed to protect my property from water damage/leaks I would recommend this hotel to a friend that was on a strict budget.
